The Devil’s Bean Bag
Aliyah's POV
The atmosphere in the palace was a hit cold and the entire south wing of the house had been sealed. I saw the Pack's doctor rushing up and then out, not speaking to anyone.
Even when I had asked him what was going on, he had merely ignored me like no one was there. Something was wrong with Wesley. I knew Elena was fine because I had seen her earlier and she was okay.
I needed to move somewhere, it was the only way I could do whatever I wanted from afar while being close to my family. Wesley would never look at me if Elena was always around him. If I got my own place, then I will be able to trick him to my place which he will come to alone.
The next morning, I was out of the house at the crack of dawn. I contacted some housing agents around town, and they asked me to come and see a few places. Of course, I told them I was a guest of the Alpha, and having seen me in the palace for a while, they concluded that I was an important person.
“This place is beautiful. I'll take it here and pay for it today.” I said, excited to see the first apartment they had shown me. It was precisely what I wanted, and I looked forward to decorating my own space.
“Alright ma'am,” the agent said and began to work out my tenancy agreement.
Soon we were done, and the cleaning lady came to clean It, I had to wait a while and I wondered how I was going to explain my hasty decision to move out of the palace to Elena.
I drove home and met the south wing still sealed, but just as I turned to leave, I noticed that Elena walked out of her previous room.
“Elena, afternoon,” I said, calling his attention.
She rubbed her eyes sleepily, whatever had happened during the night did not involve her sleeping because she had huge eye bags.
“Afternoon Aliyah.” She said and began to walk towards me.
“You don't look okay. Is everything alright with you?” I asked her, wanting to know what was going on with her.
“Nothing much. Wesley came down with a fever and I had to tend to him all night. They seal off the Luna and the Alpha whenever any of them is sick” she said and stopped a few steps away from me but behind the seal line.
“Sorry about that. I wanted to inform you that I have gotten my own place in town. Considering that I want to start a life here, I decided to let you two have all the privacy you need. Moreso, living on my own will help me settle in better, I was getting too comfortable here.” I said, and she looked at me shocked before sighing and nodding her head in agreement.
“Okay, sister. I will have someone get you everything you will need for your new place” she said and turned, leaving me stunned at the foot of the stairs.
I had been expecting her to do more, maybe beg me not to leave or even show concern as to why I was leaving since I could still.be here and settle in. It confirmed all that I had suspected in the last few weeks, she had never wanted me to stay.
Even when her friend had disrespected me, she had chosen to take a stroll instead of fighting her for me. I heaved and stomped to my room.
Shortly after, a driver knocked on my door and told me that the Luna had ordered him to help me move my things whenever I was ready. My head was smoking, and I nearly yelled at the man but seeing that I had no other option, I grumpily agreed.
Once I get to my new place, I will be able to do more harm. I realized that all I had needed to do all this while was to keep my enemies at arm's length and not in a hug.
While I tried to move my things inside my new apartment, a young lady hurried to help me out with my bags.
“Oh thank you,” I said as she dragged one of my boxes up the stairs.
“It's nothing. I saw you earlier, didn't know you would be moving in so fast.” She said happily, and I wondered why she was being so nice to me even though we had never met.
She was a pretty girl, around my age, and she seemed dumb as she nearly ran into the door a few times as she chattered her way up the flight of stairs.
“My name is Cecilia, I work at the Pack's clinic. I am a nurse. What about you?” She asked as I struggled to open the door. She was beginning to annoy me, but I didn't want to come off as a snub.
“I just moved here,” I answered briefly and dragged my bag inside. The apartment was still empty, and I figured that I should call Elena and ask her to send the things I needed, but I was too livid for that and needed a break.
“You can chill at mine until your things arrive. I have some really good alcohol to help you de-stress.” She offered and I nodded my head in appreciation.
Once my things arrive, I will make sure never to speak to her again. But for now, I took a deep breath and arranged some things I came with before deciding that I would follow her to her room.
“This is a really cool place to live. There's a gun, a restaurant, a swimming pool. You know we could have also taken the elevator? I wondered why you took the stairs and figured you liked exercise. Hence I decided to support you.” She said, and I looked at her. We had struggled up those rows of stairs only for her to tell me now that there was an elevator.
I was about to say something when my eyes caught a figure. My mouth fell open as I dragged Cecilia into her room and shut the door.
“Devon? What the fuck?” I muttered to myself, confused as hell.
