The Beginning of The End Of An Era

Elena's POV

Worried and sick, we rushed the Grand Luna to the Pack's royal clinic. The doctor was shocked to see that we came back with the Grand Luna, considering that she was fine a while ago.

My heart was in my throat as several doctors and nurses surrounded her, making sure she was receiving immediate care and getting stabilized.

Wesley was behind me looking worried, he rarely showed emotion, and seeing him so concerned about his mother's health touched my heart. I had seen how worried she could be when he was not fine, it was great to see that he also felt the same way about his mother.

"Don't worry, everything is going to be alright," I assured him, even though I was worried sick myself. He looked at me and held me close to himself, no one was here to see us as the entire royal wing was banned from anyone else. I felt safe and even though he was the one that needed the hug, I realized that I needed it too.

"We are going to be fine." He said while running my back gently. I didn't let him go, I held tightly to him and prayed to the moon goddess from the deepest part of my heart, and with all sincerity she let the grand Luna live.

"I need to call Aliyah and Ashely," I said, realizing that I needed more physical support, the grand Luna had been the closest person to me since I moved here. I didn't imagine that something happening to her would cause me such extreme emotions.

"Alright," Wesley replied and went to get somewhere to sit.

"Hello Aliyah," I said as soon as my sister picked up the phone.

"Hello." She said coldly, sounding annoyed like I had interrupted something she was busy with.

"The grand Luna collapsed a few minutes ago. We are at the hospital, thought I should inform you if you want to come over." I asked her.

"I thought you said she was already at the hospital?" She asked me nonchalantly over the phone. Even through the phone, it was obvious that she didn't care what happened to the poor woman.

"Yes, she is. I was only informing you so you could come around." I said calmly, trying to keep myself from snapping at her for being selfish. The Grand Luna was responsible for sending everything to her apartment as I had been too exhausted to.

"Okay. Thank you for informing me. I'm sure I can send someone to deliver the greetings to her like you sent someone to deliver things to my house like I was a beggar. Someone that you had picked off the street to give a better life to." She snapped at me and ended the call before I could say anything.

The call had hurt me deeply as I thought that Aliyah had genuinely cared about me. I blinked back the tears and called Ashley's number.

My voice broke before I could say anything after the call connected.

"Hey, hey, hey. What's going on? Why are you crying, Elena?" She asked me, her voice filled with worry and concern.

"The grand...the grand Luna is at the hospital." I started and blew my nose loudly into my handkerchief.

"Don't worry. I will meet you at the pack's royal clinic in a few minutes. Thanks to the moon goddess I was even close to the palace." She said and I felt better.

"Alright," I said and the call ended. I felt worse that my friend had shown more concern about me being sad than my sister was.

As soon as I was done with the call, I went to Wesley. He was looking at me closely and dragged me to sit beside him while he cuddled me.

"I really want her to be fine," I said and I felt the overwhelming urge to cry again.

"She will be fine Elena. I want her to be fine too." Wesley said.

The doctor came out after an hour and told us that the Grand Luna would like to see us now.

"Alpha, Luna. The Grand Luna has requested to see you both. It should be treated as a matter of urgency." He said and walked back to where he came out from.

We both hurried to her room and were surprised to see her drinking a cup of tea. She looked absolutely fine and if you had not seen her a few hours ago, lying down still, you would not have believed that anything was even wrong with her in the first place.

"Mother." I cried and immediately went to hug her. Hot steamy tears ran down my eyes as I wondered why I felt so emotional.

"Elena, do not cry anymore. I am better now and as you can see, still agile enough to be a mother to this big baby. I still got about twenty years of mothering him." She teased and we all laughed.

Wesley was slowly trying to relax and I could see the relief creeping into his face. He took a deep breath before walking to where we were and took a seat opposite us.

"Mother. How do you feel now?" He asked her, his voice devoid of the emotions that were flashing through his eyes.

"I am better. You both looked really worried. Seems the doctor told you both that I was going to die soon?" She asked us and then while I looked at her mortified, she and Wesley laughed at her little dark humor.

"You both better get me little ones soon. I need to have a little one to worry about. You adults are too sensible." She said and I managed a smile this time around.

"We will Mother," Wesley said and looked at me, his eyes hungry and hot. Almost like he was telling me what he would do to me with his eyes.

"You both also need to get married." She said and I nearly choked on my spit.
