Chapter 22

"Well, telling you she wants to go to the toilet was a green light for you to led her there and then she traps you and begin her plans, can't you see she's been there for too long? She's waiting for you" she grinned as she thought Mercury's plan had failed but instead he gasped and hurried towards the rest room. Now they were both out and Mercury was shivering, and he was giving her so much attention.
"What happened?" She asked curiously and looking at Mercury in disdain.
"Nothing you should know about" he answered, offering Mercury a glass of water "you will be fine"
"Will I?"she whispered as she could barely hear herself.
"It was just an imagination or let me say you were hallucinating" he answered as he knelt in front of her.
"How did you see my imagination?" she answered, and he ran his hand through his hair without a reply "who or what are you?"
"We are here to learn and not talk about other things"he pushed away the topic. Mercury looked at the narrow corridor again and Chloe followed her gaze and found herself looking at the corridor.
"There's something about it" she thought.
Kenny got up and called them to come and Mercury dropped the towel and glass of water, they followed him into the elevator as he clicked on the button that led them to another door. He pushed it open and they got in. It was a big, quiet library, it had books which was well arranged in different rows and shelves, Mercury smiled inwardly as she could see he was an intelligent man.
"This is where we will learn", he smiled buy then Mercury frown when she thought of something.
"Did you say you live alone?"Mercury asked suspiciously,
"Did I mention such?" He questioned back as he raised his brows at her and she swallowed.
"Who do you live with?" Chloe asked before Mercury could say anything,
"Myself, I live alone but I have some companions that come around" he answered.
"You read all these books alone?" She asked again, and Mercury listened to all his answers.
"Yes, too hard to believe?",
Chloe shook her head negatively and moved around, Mercury stood quietly as she was eager to ask more questions, she couldn't forget what happened to her earlier at the corridor, she had to tell Jupiter and the others.
"You don't have a girlfriend, fiancée or wife?" Chloe asked again.
"Are you interviewing me?" He raised his voice and Chloe shivered in fear and Mercury's eye widen, he sat on the chair and took some text books and opened through the pages and then he stopped at a page.
"This is what we would begin with"he pointed at the page and turned it towards their direction then he got up, picked a marker and walked towards a small board, "sit"
The girls sat down, looking back at him and confused about the sudden change of attitude, but they had no choice. Chloe and Mercury listened to him as he spoke audibly, and they penned down the important point and answered his questions. The class became an interesting one even though he rarely smiled at them and they understood the class with ease.
Soon the classes ended, he peeped at his watch and glance at the girls who immediately looked at their Phones.
"You should go, it's 5:33 already", Kenny said to them and the girls got up immediately.
"Thanks for the classes, sir" Mercury appreciated, and he smiled at her in return and led them out of the library. They moved out of the mansion as Mercury kept glancing at the corridor, she was so curious about that place but not only her, Chloe was more curious about what happened at the corridor.
"I'm driving you both home" he said to the girls.
"Why? It's not necessary" Mercury frowned as she felt it was stressing to take her down the long road, since her house for was far away from his.
"I brought you here and since it's your first day, it's my duty to take you back and must know your house in case any need arises" he explained with a plain face.
Mercury surrendered and got into the car and noticed Chloe was sitting in front at the drive seat, her and wolf was howling, it was becoming possessive and she fought hard to control it, shutting her eyes and frowning uncomfortably,Kenny looked back at her as he could notice she was not alright but he said nothing and moved the car into the road.
He got to Chloe's apartment first, he parked the car and waited for Chloe to step down, but she didn't, Mercury stared at her curiously and suspiciously as she noticed Chloe smiling at him seductively.
"Thanks for the classes today" she smiled and placed her hands on his thigh and he brushed it away quickly and he bent closer to her, she leaned forward with her eyes shut expecting what she had always wanted but he pushed the door handle and it opened, Chloe opened her eyes in surprise and embarrassment. Indeed, she had no shame, she was expecting a kiss from the man who didn't like her a bit. She got out of the car and shut it angrily before walking away.
As the car got back into the road, Mercury couldn't stop laughing at the drama that happened right in front of her, she leaned backwards as tears slipped out of her eyes In between her laughter. Kenny looked back at her, but she didn't care then he surprised her as he joined to laugh
"I haven't laughed this way for a long time" she said in-between laughter.
"Girls could do crazy things though" he answered smiling and suddenly they were quiet, the silence in the car was awkward.
"Sorry about what happened at my place" he apologized.
"Did something happen?" Mercury raised her brows, trying to get the words out of him.
"We both know something happened at the corridor that leads to the rest room, I had totally forgotten that the lights were faulty" he said.
"Was it really faulty? Or it's a dark home for the creatures you feed, "she replied as she mimicked him using his masculine voice and repeating the words he had said "she isn't food"
"You saw nothing, and you know nothing, Mercury" he answered.
"I'm wiser than you ever know, tame those things lurking in that dark shadows, because next time we cross paths, it certainly wouldn't be a nice one for them" she warned looking straight into his eyes from the front mirror but instead he laughed.
"You were the one running and shivering in fear" he laughed loudly.
"You don't know me, it would be the other way around. You'll hear them scream as i torment them" she commanded "stop!"
He stepped on the brake as it made a screeching sound, she got down and he watch her walk off into the apartment, he was amazed at her boldness, but he knew she couldn't do anything, she was only a human. He shook his head and drove away.
They walked into the garden listening to mercury who narrated her experience of the previous day. She had bluntly refused to tell Jupiter and Olivia about her adventure, she needed a full house, she waited till it was lunch time, she dragged them all out and headed for the garden, Adam and Jupiter created the invisible cloak together as the others waited.
"Chloe was really pushing so hard to get his attention" she grinned "but it didn't work out"
"you mentioned that she wanted kissing him" Olivia stated, and she nodded,
"he wanted opening the door and when he leaned closer, she foolishly shut her eyes and pushed out her lips, leaning closer, when she realized what happened, she walked out of the car in shame" mercury narrated to the others as they laughed loudly.
"you said you had a fearful moment and it was very important" Jupiter pointed out,
"I did, but I have to complete the good and fun part" she smiled at her sister and turned to continue her narration.
"if it's important then I guess It's time to let us know, you have been keeping it to yourself since you came back home and that pale expression you had, I don't think I can wait any longer" Jupiter raised her voice angrily and mercury swallowed and blinked.
"since you want to know" mercury began, "there's something about Mr. Kenny and his house"
"and what's that?" Seth questioned curiously,
"I can't actually point it out, my experience there was confusing" she bit her lips as she looked up at the curious faces staring back at her. She narrated, described and explained what happened in the dark corridor to them and finally it was their turn to look pale.
"what could that be?" Adam frowned, and they looked at their self after mercury was done.
"I have no idea" she answered "I saw nothing, except shadows of things I'm not so sure of"
"we have to know what that is" Olivia said immediately as they were all in deep thought,
"were you hurt?" Seth asked and walked closer to her, holding her hands, he could feel her trembling as she lowered her head, avoiding their gaze "mercury?"
"why won't I be hurt?" she asked back "those things didn't hurt me, I was scared and for the first time I faced something so scary without someone by me, no Jupiter, no help, I was all alone. I am hurt".
She sobbed in Seth's arm and Jupiter frowned as she was even more hurt and upset to see her sister in this situation, she wasn't there when mercury needed her the most. What if something had gone wrong? What if they got her and hurt her?
"we need to go there" Jupiter said and they all looked up at her, rising their brows in confusion.
"why would you do that? What we need to do is stay away" Seth argued.
"not when it dared to hurt my sister. I wasn't taught to neverback down, I must find out those evil creatures that could possibly kill humans" she explained angrily.
"how do we do that? To go into his house" Adam questioned,
"not when mercury has an access already" Jupiter answered with a weak smile,
"you think he'll open his apartment wide for us?" Olivia asked as they all hard different thoughts and ideas,
"don't underestimate the witch in me" she blinked severally and they all laughed "but I really need your ideas, I've got nothing in mind".
"we could actually make mercury invisible" Adam grinned, and mercury turned to him
"why?" she asked immediately,
"you have to go into that corrido again" Adam replied.
"and why should I?" she demanded "I'm not going in there alone".
"well we would be on a stand by, Jupiter could easily make a portal and we would be there with you" Seth added.
"how would I communicate with you all when I'm there?"
"mind link" Olivia smiled "you have to mind link with me"
"okay, that's right" mercury smiled back "so what am I going in there for?"
"to get those creatures, to capture and deal with them" Jupiter answered her sister,
"we don't have an idea about what we are going against" Seth mentioned,
"and they have no idea of who is coming up against them. Now let's be positive" Olivia said as she raised her chin.
"we can do this, when we have ourselves, we can do this" Adam smiled happily and they all nodded
"so, where do we start from?" mercury asked curiously.
"since they live in the shadows, you mentioned they hide from the light, right?" Jupiter asked, and mercury nodded.
"and it's obvious they stay inside the toilet rooms; how many toilet rooms do we have?" Olivia questioned.
"it's really a long corridor and it has a lot of toilets, I could say ten at my right and ten at the left, that's the male and female rest room" mercury answered.
"then we would need twenty bulbs, bright one" Olivia grinned and immediately they all got the idea of what Jupiter and Olivia was planning.
"I can't possible go into each of those toilets. That's where they crept out from, they live in there" mercury frowned.
"don't forget you are invisible; they can't see you. You move in there, fix that bulb and we won't turn it on till we are done" Jupiter said, and mercury shook her head negatively.
"we would be there if you need us" Seth smiled at her and she realized she had no choice,
"we would get twenty bulbs, each bulb for a toilet. How would she pass the bulbs into the house?" Olivia asked.
"she doesn't need to carry it, when she's in the corridor, we would open the portal and send it to her" Adam answered, and Olivia nodded.
"I think we should get eighteen bulbs instead" Seth brought out an opinion and they all looked at him curiously,
"why?" mercury asked.
"what if the light could kill them, we must know what they are first, if possible we could question them. We have to trap them" he explained.
"he's right" Jupiter smiled and patted him "we trap them in two toilets then. One male toilet and a female toilet"
