Chapter 39

"we should go back now" mars said Dinah and she nodded in agreement as they stood up together, he turned to face her. "thank you so much for your time"
"I should thanking you for not giving up on me and for not hating me for my insults and rudeness" she said with a smile
"if you don't mind, I would love to spend more time with you"he said to her and she shook her head negatively but instead he nodded with a smile and she frowned
"you're not upset?" she asked confusingly
"why should I be upset? I don't see any reason to be upset, it's childish" he laughed and she smiled and he began to scent a different smile and he knew someone was coming their way
"well, if you should know. I like you already" she smiled with a blush and then the person appeared behind her.
"Dinah?" the masculine voice called and she turned around in fear and she froze, mars frowned at the way she acted, wondering why she was scared and shivering
"who is he?" mars asked the scared girl who was staring at the angry looking merman but she wasn't replying and the merman began walking closer and mars could sense the anger in him
"so you could easily fall for the visitors that just arrived today" the merman shouted in anger as he shook the girl violently and she winched in pain. Mars quickly stepped in and pushed the man away from the girl. He wondered why this violent girl who could easily fight him was scared of this man.
"is he your boyfriend?" mars asked Dinah and she nodded with a frown, then he finally understood what was happening. The merman was angry because he had overheard his girlfriend telling another man how she feels about him
"Michael you have to calm down, please" she pleaded from behind mars but immediately the merman sent a blow on mars face and mars staggered and winced in pain, he hadn't expected that but he controlled himself and observed and as Michael tried to throw another fist, he caught his hand immediately and twisted the bone and he screamed in pain.
"mars stop it, you're hurting him" Dinah cried and mars let go, he didn't want to upset her but just then more mermen surrounded them and they were surprised "this is going to be bad"
"get the girl, I need to teach her some manners and lock the boy up, we would kill him and dump his body" Michael said to the other mermen and Dinah gasped in disbelief.
"you can't possible do that. I am your princess" she shouted at him
"and you think I care so much about you? Come on, I just needed go gain a lot from you but since you already like another man, I think I should relieve you of me which is a burden" Michael laughed wickedly and she shook her head and shut her eyes in tears. She had never thought this day would come and finally when she thought there was someone who loved her unconditionally, here he was telling her the worst words of her life.
"Venus, call the others. I need you all here" mars mind linkedVenus and she could hear the panic in his voice and knew there was an issue.
"we would be with you in a minute" Venus had replied and he nodded and concentrated on the mermen that was getting closer to them.
"Dinah I need you to fight now. I don't need that woman side of you" mars said to her but she was crying
"I can't fight him; I can't fight someone I love" she wept
"but he can fight you? He could easily punish you for no sincere reason, he already tells you he never liked you and was here for materialistic purpose" mars argued, trying to make her stronger "I want you to show him who you are, let him know you are stronger and can do without him. Fight him as Jupiter is willing to fight her dad"
She stared at him with tears in her eyes and nodded, then she sniffed and dried the tears that was flowing with her palms and turned to face the mermen who were closer already.
"I am your queen and I command you to submit" she screamed and a strong wave appeared and knocked them down and Michael could easily duck but she wasn't surprised, she had stupidly showed him all her weak points and now he would use it against her, she hated herself already for being so weak and useless. But she didn't back down, mars watched her summon the waters but he couldn't figure out where the water appeared from since they were on a dry surface currently. She spins the water with great speed and quickly created a bow and arrow which was made out of the water, mars was amazed and speechless as he hadn't even concentrated on his phone fight. She sent the arrows straight into the body of the merman as she moved in a circular form they all fell to the ground but Michaelwas still left, he had fled away and they both sighed in relieve.
"you did all the fighting" he grinned and just then he felt something pierce into his chest, the smiling face changed, he was struggling in pains and then his feet collided to the floor, Dinah's eye widens as she saw the arrow that had penetrated from the back to the chest, as she turned her eyes met the another arrow coming towards her but it was already late, she didn't know what to do. When she thought the arrow had gotten into her skin, she shut her eyes tightly but she felt nothing but she found herself on the floor but she felt no pain, she opened her eyes slowly to meet someone in front of her, her eyes met Jupiter with the arrow pierced into her palm.
She was surprised and confused about what just happened and when she moved her eyes towards mars, she noticed he was surrounded by his family already and was bleeding, how did they get here? How did Jupiter manage to save her? What kind of speed did she use that could match the speed of the arrow that was fired at her? She wondered where the arrow had come from but she remembered seeing Michael again, she looked around searching for him and to her surprise he was right before her but he seems to be hanging on the air then she noticed Jupiter was actually controlling him with her other hand. How is all this possible? Her mind was very uneasy at this moment; she couldn't think straight. She watched them carry mars away from the place but she still couldn't move, like she was in a trance.
"get up let's leave with the others" Jupiter said to her but she didn't move, she couldn't feel her bones. She watched Jupiter slam Michael's body to the ground with great force, then she pulled out the arrow and whispered some words, the open space which the blood dripped from closed itself immediately. Jupiter walked towards her and helped her up, Dinah allowed her to lead her up and they walked out as Jupiter used the other hand to control Michael's unconscious body.
The girls met the others at the dinning and mars was placed on the floor, they could hear him grunting in pains. Dinah frowned slightly as his screamed hurt her deep down, she moved away from Jupiter who had tied Michael's unconscious body to a chairand walked towards him with a frown.
"that arrow was a poisoned one" the mermaid queen explained to them "it could spread round his body"
"pull out the arrow" queen Laura said to Jordan and he nodded, he slowly pulled out the arrow and mars screamed in pains
"why is Jupiter's case different?" Venus asked in confusion
"she's a witch and vampire, she has some immunity that protects her from some things" Kenny answered as he explained to the confused people
"the poison is spreading faster" queen irine complained as they could obvious the green veins appeared on his body
"he's not going to die right?" Dinah whispered with pain in her voice but they didn't reply
"we don't know Dinah" queen Alexa answered "we would try our best"
"he doesn't deserve to die, mom" she cried and ran out of the dinning as Jupiter, mercury and Olivia followed her from behind.
The girl ran into a room and shut the door behind her. Mercury and Olivia followed her scent, leading them to her room.
"seems all the mermaids could walk too" Olivia said to the other girls
"ya, they have both land and water. Most part of the palace is land" Jupiter replied and Olivia nodded
"it's beautiful, it helps them in case they want to come on land. They could easily understand and have an experience of what they would face and how they would cope" mercury answered
"we are here. This is her room" Olivia stopped in front of a door
"obviously, she has her name on it too" Jupiter smiled weakly and knocked on the door but they could hear the girl sobbing inside the room. Jupiter glanced at mercury and Olivia, they understood what she meant with those eyes and they nodded at her. She pushed the door open and they all peeped into the room, they saw the girl sitting on the floor and facing the wall.
"I didn't ask you to come in" she shouted not looking at them as they stepped into the house but instead of leaving they shut the door and walked further into the room.
"we came to make sure you're save" mercury said first but she didn't reply "my name is mercury"
"maybe we could have a good start from here, my name is Olivia".
"you already know who I am" Jupiter said "you must hate me really bad, my name is Jupiter"
But then the girl rose up and turned towards them, they could see her red face and could sense she was upset.
"who cares about your name? maybe if he hadn't come to talk about you to me, he wouldn't be in that situation" Dinah flared up and Jupiter blinked simultaneously.
"hey, I didn't ask him to come talk to you about me. So why blaming me?" Jupiter asked in annoyance
"I don't want to see you, now you can leave my room. Life saver" Dinah mocked and turned away, Jupiter opened the door and left the other girls in the room and headed back for the dining room, she was upset. She had tried to start afresh but the girl was just too stubborn and strong headed, she hadn't expected this when her mom told her they would be going to the mermaid kingdom. She walked towards Selina who was sitting quietly and watching mars get treated, she sat beside her and stared at her brother who was in pains.
"they are losing him" Selina said almost in a whisper "I can hear his heart beat becoming slow"
"he's not going to die, my brother is a warrior and fighter. Maybe I could be of help" Jupiter frowned as she got up and walked towards her mother. Selina shook her head negatively, totally confused on how she wanted to help.
"get me some candles that can go round him" queen Laura said to the mermaid queen and she quickly walked away in a hurry to get the candles
"can I help?" Jupiter asked the witch queen but they all raised their eyes at her
"why aren't you with Dinah?" queen irine asked "I thought you left after her"
"she's annoying, I thought she could be more sensible at this point and what she did was chase me out of her room" Jupiter replied rolling her eyes
"oh, she's not really in a good mood. with what had happened I think she's mentally unstable" king Desmond answered
"for goodness sake, I should be the unstable one here. Mars is my brother and not hers, at the same time I took the arrow that was meant for her" Jupiter frowned in disbelief "why is everyone so eager to defend her"
"Jupiter, you need to understand, she is not the same as you, shemight not be as strong as you are" Adam said and walked closer to hug her
"so sending me out of her room was the best way to say thank you for saving my life?" Jupiter asked
"I am sorry about that" the mermaid queen said as she arrived with the candles "Dinah is just unpredictable and I want you to understand her"
Jupiter remained quiet at this point, she wouldn't want to argue with the mermaid queen about her unreasonable daughter. Jupiter nodded affirmatively at the woman and she smiled at her. Queen Alexa dropped the candle and they all began placing it around mars body. And when they were done, queen Laura ordered Venus to light up all the candles and she did that smoothly without delay.
"give us space" queen Laura said to all of them and they moved away from mars body. "I need you here Jupiter and queen Alexa"
They both stepped forward, having no idea of what they would do for her.
"you own this kingdom, this poison was made from this place, there should be a way to cure it" queen Laura said to queen Alexa and she nodded.
"I only have to use one of the rare magic" queen Alexaanswered and the witch queen smiled at her and turned to Jupiter
"I need you to join power with me and I need you to create a fog, vampires could do that. The dark fog is going to absorb the poison till it fades away" queen Laura explained and Jupiter nodded in understanding. "gather round and Jupiter you begin"
Jupiter moved closer to mars body, a tear dropped down her eyes as she saw him battle to breathe and his eyes looked like they were popping out and his skin were green and the veins moved like they were worms.
"Jupiter?" queen Laura called "you can do this"
Jupiter shut her eyes, avoiding mars body and she moved her hands in an expertise motion like she had been doing this all her life. They could see she was also battling with emotional pains and each movement she made a tear fell down her eyes. The dark fog began to appear slowly round her and then it moved over the others, it became darker that the other people could not see them anymore, they were covered by the darkness and then queen Alexa began to chant as some water surrounded only her and her tail appeared, it was the first time her tail had appeared since they came but they couldn't see it because of the darkness, but it shone brightly in the dark. And finally queen Laura began to chant a spell louder than that of queen Alexa and suddenly green gas forced its way out of mars body and the dark fog quickly absorb it not wanting any power around it.
"we are done" queen Laura said and Jupiter stopped summoning the fog as queen Alexa stopped chanting, the fog disappeared immediately and everyone quickly glanced at mars who had become quiet and breathing hard and faster
