Chapter 23

"I think we should trap them in the toilet close to the big sitting room" mercury added as she saw their curious faces she decided to spill her reasons. "what if they can break through wall? From the last toilet, there is a wall, they could easily escape if they have an escape route. But the last toilet to the sitting room, if they escape, they escape right into the light, because that sitting room is flooded with massive light" she explained her reasons and soon they were all smiling at her idea, they had finally come up with a great plan.
"we won't hurt Mr. Kenny, right?" mercury asked and they all stopped smiling and stared at her.
"we won't. He has done nothing wrong yet, but if he does, we have no option but to capture him as an evil person" Jupiter answered and swallowed when mercury's expression hadn't change, but then mercury nodded.
"I think we should help mercury; she needs a second hand to help her" Seth said as he could notice mercury wasn't comfortable doing this alone "she can't do this alone"
"I'll go with her then" Adam volunteered and then Olivia's hand was up too.
"I'll open the portal and keep it open and Seth would pass the bulb when you'll have gone in through the portal" Jupiter said and they all nodded.
"thank you" mercury whispered "I can't possibly do without you all"
"you are welcome" they all answered simultaneously with a smile and she joined them as they walked out of the cloak back to the class.
Mercury avoided Chloe as she tried speaking to her when they were back to the class, Chloe tried to talk about the previous day, but mercury brushed it away.
"you're not going to tell me anything?" Chloe demanded,
"what do you want to know? Why not ask Mr. Kenny?" mercury questioned angrily.
"oh! I see what you're doing" Chloe smiled wickedly "You're keeping everything to yourself, so I don't get him from you"
"it's totally fine for you to keep saying nonsense, but I don't know what you're talking about" mercury rolled her eyes.
"I know that you're trying so hard to be a thief, you want to steal him and keep him all to yourself" Chloe laughed and immediately mercury got up and held her tightly by the collar in anger. Jupiter hurriedly went to her side and pulled them apart.
"don't you dare repeat those words to me, I'll pull out your tooth" mercury shouted angrily as Chloe back down and walked away with a grin after successfully upsetting mercury.
"she was only trying to get on your nerves and you made her succeed" Adam frowned as he made her sit.
"she called me a thief" mercury shouted and immediately got up "I want to go home"
"why?" Adam and Jupiter answered simultaneously and stood up with her
"because I don't want to see that girl and I need to talk to your mother, maybe she would have an idea of what those creatures are" mercury explained.
"that's not very necessary and by the way you have to go to Mr. Kenny's apartment first, so you can't go home" Adam said, and she frowned slightly.
"we would talk to mom about it and would tell her of our plans" Jupiter answered, and she nodded in agreement.
The principal got into the class with Miss Sylvia behind him, the students got up and greeted them and he replied before permitting them to sit.
"your examination is getting closer, so the school decided that all the students from two sections would stay together" Mr. Fredrick began "The other class would join you all and you will learn together"
The student's nodded in understanding. Jupiter, mercury and Adam found it okay as they could easily communicate with Seth and Olivia. Miss Sylvia went out and called the other students into the class, the three immediately created a desk for Seth and Olivia beside them, the students filled the class.
"thanks for your understanding and cooperation" Mr. Fredrick smiled and bow slightly at Jupiter and mercury's direction and the girls smiled at him as he walked out of the class.
Mr. Kenny walked to the class and found miss Sylvia in front of the students, she was having a class with them, he smiled at her as she waved at him. He peeped into the class and his eyes met that of mercury, she was staring back at him with no expression and then she looked away, he took his eyes off her and met Chloe who was waving at him with a smile, he smiled back at her and his gaze went back to mercury.
She had been on his mind since she left yesterday, he was curious to know more about her and not just that, he was worried about her, how she was coping after what happened the previous day. He hadn't seen her all day, and this was the only time he could see her before Chloe join them home, he needed to apologize to her, he owed her one, but she was busy.
He noticed miss Sylvia walked closer to him with a smile which he didn't find attracting.
"Mr. Kenny" she smiled and signal him to bend and he obeyed, bending slightly "do you mind if we go on a coffee date today?" she whispered but mercury read her lips and immediately her wolf groan inwardly and she watch carefully to know his reply.
"no ma'am, I'll be occupied with mercury and Chloe" he smiled at her and she frowned at his denial as mercury heave in relieve, smiling inwardly.
"I prefer being called Sylvia" she corrected him with a weak smile "and you could skip the extra class today, you look so stressed and you need some fun"
"I can't skip it. It's important" he frowned "I didn't say I'm lacking fun".
"teaching all day, is that fun?" she questioned raising her voice and the students looked at them curiously.
"my students are fun, my classes with mercury and Chloe is fun too. You shouldn't tell me what to do" he shouted "and note this too, I don't like you, not a bit. Stop pushing too hard".
The whole class roared in laughter and mercury stared at him till he walked out of the class and immediately miss Sylvia busted into tears and ran out of the class.
"that was amazing" Olivia laughed, and the others joined.
"she deserves it" Adam added in between laughter and mercury was quiet, she had just watch Kenny turn down a woman, what if he did this to her, a public embarrassment.
"mercury?" she heard her name and looked up to meet Mr. Kenny in front of her "let's go. Chloe join me now".
He walked out of the class and the school bell rang. They all looked at each other.
"time to work" Jupiter said, "let's go home, we would buy the bulbs in a store".
They all ran out to the park, they watched mercury, Chloe and Mr. Kenny get into his car. Mercury bit her lips, praying the plan work as expected, she waved at the others as they got into their own car and drove away.
"are you okay?" Kenny asked as he noticed her dull and moody face but turned to him and noticed his concerned face and she looked away. Why was he suddenly so concerned about her?
"I love what you did to miss Sylvia today" Chloe smiled mischievously but he ignored her.
"I'll leave you two with a little assignment today at my place, while I hurry to pick up something at the rail station" he said to them "I hope you can cope alone?".
"certainly, we can" mercury answered immediately as she found an opportunity to invade the toilet corridor in his absence, Chloe shook her head negatively.
"if mercury can cope without me then you should" he said to Chloe and she frowned "but stay away from the toilet" he warned.
He walked them down to the library as he explained to them what to do and not to. He pushed the library door and they got in. He took out a marker and wrote out some math problems on the board.
"We learnt this yesterday, so you should be able to give me answers to these twenty questions before I'm back" he said to them and they nodded in affirmation. "I'll be back in thirty minutes".
"No problem sir" Mercury answered, and he smiled before walking out, then they heard the door locking up and the keys dangling away, Mercury eyes widen, he had locked them up. She ran and hit the door but it was already late, and she could hear him walking away, she groaned angrily and turned to meet Chloe grinning.
"You're so eager to join him out, don't miss him too much "shemocked, and Mercury rolled her eyes, moving closer to Chloe.
"You know what? "Mercury asked, and Chloe shook her head negatively "well I think you should take a thirty-minute nap".
"If only you can make me" she laughed and immediately her head high t slammed hard on the table and she laid motionless.
"Well, I could" Mercury laughed and turned to the door and forcefully hit it with her leg and it broke immediately, shesmiled at herself as she picked up a torch light from her bag and ran out of the library, she mind linked Olivia without hesitation.
"I'm ready, currently heading to the corridor" she said through her mind.
"We are ready too" Olivia answered and soon Mercury found herself in front of the corridor, then a portal appeared beside her, she could see the others at the other end, Jupiter and Adam quickly began chanting a spell, making Mercury invisible.
"This is going to last for few minutes" Adam said to her as a reminder.
"You all have to be fast" Jupiter smiled "meet you at the end of the wall".
"Go in now" Seth said, and the portal was closed, Mercury breath in and out, trying to push away the fear.
She stepped into the corridor, as usual it was dark, creepy and scary. There was no gleam of light, but she could see but not so clearly through the help of her wolfs eyes. She walked down quietly, trying not to create a noise, gently placing her feet'sslowly on each step she made. Soon she found herself at the end of the wall, she mind linked Olivia again and suddenly the portal appeared, the bright light sent the creatures into a hiding place. Olivia and Adam joined her into the corridor as Seth passed a bulb to them, Jupiter had made them all invisible thereby making the plan easy and stress free.
They moved into every toilet, planting the bulb and when they were out of a toilet, leaving it dark again, they would hear the footsteps of the creatures running back to the toilet, they couldn't see these creatures except the fast shadow moving into the dark. But it was even, the creatures couldn't see them either because they were invisible and the bright light from the portal made them run away and they couldn't notice them.
The plan went successfully, they had succeeded in fixing the bulbs in the toilets except the last two, Olivia and Adam left through the portal and they shut the portal, leaving her to her fate. Mercury began to move out the of the corridor but then she noticed her invisibility was fading, she began to run and she could hear the hungry creatures behind her, she realized they could see her now, she ran faster and soon she could see the light, she jumped out before those hands could grab her, she fell to the ground with her eyes shut, she sighed in relief and slowly opened her eyes, struggling to her feet.
As she straightens up, she encountered Kenny who was glaring at her in anger, she gasps there in fear as she noticed his confusion.
"How did you leave the library" he grabbed her and shook her angrily as he noticed she risked her life by going into that corridor and he wondered how she survived.
"You think I'll let you lock me up and then you feed me to those creatures later?" She shouted back, trying to defend herself.
"I was saving you, I didn't want you to leave so you don't endanger yourself. That's why I locked the door" he answered.
"Well I couldn't stay" she rolled her eyes.
"How did you break the door? Why is Chloe unconscious? What are you doing in that same corridor? What are you up to? Who are you?" He demanded shouting the words angrily.
"Oh, all these questions" she smiled and looked up like she was in deep thoughts "how do I start answering".
She could remember Olivia's reply when they met at the corridor again "we asked Laura about the questions and she said they are vampires" Olivia had whispered.
"How could he possibly keep vampires?" Mercury asked in confusion.
." not If he's a vampire himself" Olivia answered.
"He can't be, he walked under the sun, he's not scared of light" Mercury said with a frown, but Olivia had said nothing else.
"You haven't answered my question, Mercury" Kenny shouted at her as she immediately acted like she realized what she wanted saying.
"Isn't it obvious that's I'm thinking? Vampire keeper", she smirked at him and his expression changed, his handsome face held confusion and disbelief "surprised? Well if you want to know me better, you stupid evil doer. I am Mercury, the one who would destroy all the vampire under your care".
She was angry, and her body was trembling, she still found it hard to believe he kept vampires and fed them with humans, that was pure evil.
He walked closer to her, she wasn't scared of him, he was human, and she was a wolf. He gripped her hand suddenly with great force and she winced slightly and quickly threw a punch to his face, it landed hard on his face. He realized she was a threat to him. The punch she had sent to him didn't move him, but his next step surprised her, he hit her with the other hand and her body flew to the other side of the wall and she winced in pain as she quickly Mind linked Olivia for backup.
"You're a threat to me and I don't joke with those vampires in there, they are my family and I could kill the world for them. You should have let it go, Mercury. Now you're making me do this" he frowned and she could notice the pains he battled with but suddenly his fangs appear and Mercury got shocked at what she saw, he was actually not a human but a vampire and a day walker, she moved towards her but she moved backwards as he continued forward and when she got to the wall, she immediately changed to her wolf and that got him more surprised, he staggered backwards as she howled angrily at him. She knew she had to fight him, she has no option, they were on different parts and thereby an enemy. She attacked him immediately, running towards him but he stood there not moving, she jumped on him, trying to run her fingers into his face but he held her tightly, both struggling with each other as he tried to bite her off. Finally, he pushed her off and she landed on a pillar but got up almost immediately and moved to attack again.
