Chapter 24

The bright light of the portal blinded them both and they stopped in their tracks as Mercury back ups stepped out including Laura and Jordan. When she looked back at Kenny, she was surprised that see him hanging on the air and his back pinned to the wall, she could see him struggling and she looked back at the people behind her and noticed the four witch and wizards were at work, torturing him with the spell they casted. Olivia and Seth ran to her side as she turned back to human.
"Does it hurt?" Seth asked worriedly, and she nodded slowly.
"Jupiter could heal you" Olivia said as Jupiter let go of Kenny for the others and hurried to her sisters' side and she was angry, she wanted to torture the man more for hurting her sister. She quickly shut her eyes and began chanting a spell and soon the wounds and bruises slowly vanished.
They all turned back to Kenny who was already getting weak after too much struggling, Mercury couldn't stand it anymore.
"Let him go, please" she begged almost in tears and the witch queen and the wizards brought down their hands and he landed to the floor.
"He's a vampire, a day walker" Seth said almost in a whisper and Laura stared at him in disbelief.
"There are just two-day walkers. The vampire king and Jupiter" Laura answered.
"You know that monster?" Kenny struggled up to his feet and his voice held anger, "how is Jupiter a day walker?"
"We do the questions" Jupiter said angrily and immediately controlled his body and pinned them to the chair.
"You don't order me" he shouted as the fangs appeared longer and his eyes went red.
"Don't mess with me, I'll destroy those vampires as I promised yesterday" Mercury shouted back at him.
"You can't fight those vampires, they would rip you apart" he moved, and it pissed Mercury more, she quickly walked to the corridor wall, it had a switch that was connected to the bulb.
"Dare me again" she shouted angrily but instead he laughed loudly.
*You got big nerves, there's actually no bulb in that room" he laughed louder.
"Not when we got a plan which was successful" Mercury answered and clicked on the switch, the light suddenly appeared in the corridor, flooding all the toilet rooms except the last two, Kenny gasped in shock as he could hear the vampires scrambling around into the dark part of the room for safety.
He became more scared and he groaned angrily and they all smirked at him.
"Now you obey orders and answer every question, or I click on this button and destroy everything you have in there" Mercury shouted, "do you understand?"
"Yes" he's whispered in pain
"We are always a step ahead of you, so don't do anything crazy" Jupiter smiled at him.
"Who are you?" Laura asked with her usual mild voice.
"I'm Kenneth" he answered boldly.
"We don't care about your damn name, what exactly are you?" Adam said calmly,
"I'm a vampire and a day walker "he answered angrily, and it was obvious he hates being controlled and he looked at Mercury, they could smell betrayal among themselves.
She understood he saved her from the vampires, he protected her and locked her in the library for her own safety but instead she turned against him, could they ever build a thing called trust? She could see his broken expression, she knew she hurt him.
"How can your possibly be a day walker when we have just two" Laura asked but he ignored her and looked at the corridor, he could hear them struggling and hiding from the reflection of the light.
"Answer the question" Jordan shouted.
"I will answer everything if you let them go" he pleaded "just let them go, please".
"You think we would do that? They don't belong here, they are evil" Laura said angrily, "I will kill every last one of them for the revenge of the death of my kind".
"They didn't kill your people, they never did" he shouted, hewas angry at himself for not being able to protect them. "They are my family, they are all I have".
"And you feed them with humans?" Adam asked,
"They only take out blood from the humans, erase the memory and let them go. I make sure no human dies on us," he buried his face in his palms.
Mercury could understand the pains he felt, she found herself feeling guilty, she turned back to the switch and turned it off.
"I'm sorry" she whispered, and he looked up at her with an expression of relief.
"Thank you, Mercury" he answered as he noticed they were all looking at her.
"Release him please" Mercury said to Jupiter who had pinned him to the chair.
"We can't trust him, he could do anything" Jupiter stared at her sister in disbelief, but Mercury was looking at Kenny.
"But I trust him enough" Mercury answered, "he did nothing wrong, he was only providing food for his family".
"Have you forgotten that vampires erased all my kind? My mother's kind?" Jupiter asked.
"You are also their kind, you're a vampire and a day walker at that. Let's be specific, your father erased your mother's kind and not Kenny" Mercury pointed out and Jupiter gasp at her words.
"Why are you doing this?" Jupiter questioned as she swallowed the pains.
"Because I care about him and that's all that matters now" Mercury answered, and Jupiter slowly released him from the chair and she walked away. Kenny adjusted himself on the chair, then he looked up at Mercury who stood right in front of him.
"Thank you" he said to her and turned to the others "can you all sit, please",
They obeyed and moved to get themselves a sit, but Jupiter stood were she was, leaning on a pillar
"I am Mercury, a werewolf, Olivia is a werewolf, Adam is a wizard and his father Mr. Jordan "Mercury said.
"And the others? Jupiter, Seth and the lady" he asked in curiosity, pointing at Laura lastly.
"Theirs is a bit complicated. I'll start with Seth, he's human" she replied.
"Human?" Kenny eyes widen "how could a human cope freely with you'll?",
"That's why I mentioned it's complicated" Mercury smiled slightly, "he copes well and he's amazing".
"Jupiter and the lady aren't human, what are they?" He asked again,
"You are standing right in front of the witch queen and her daughter" Seth answered this time.
"Witch queen?" He said and immediately bowed in respect which surprised all of them, she wasn't his queen, but he gave her respect, he looked at Jupiter in confusion "but Jupiter is your sister and a claimed day walker and witch, I'm totally lost about her story".
"She's not my biological sister, she was raised by my parents the wolf king and his Luna" he answered and Kenny gasp, he couldn't believe he stood before royals.
"So, the witch queen got pregnant for a vampire which is a day walker, and there isn't any other day walker except the Lord Logan" he said in confusion and suspicion.
"You got that right. The witch queen got married to the vampire king and Jupiter is the first hybrid of her kind" Adam answered,and Kenny's expression changed, his canine appeared immediately, and his eyes became red. They all quickly gathered round him as the wolves immediately change, Seth moved backwards in fear, the witches and wizards summoned a spell, all preparing to fight back as they wondered what caused the sudden change.
"Mr. Kenny, back down" Mercury pleaded but he wouldn't stop groaning and trying to attack Jupiter.
"Don't do anything to him" Mercury begged the others, but Kenny didn't stop, he was angry, but he couldn't control himself. Suddenly he leaped at Jupiter and she defended herself, sending the spell at him and he collapsed to the ground.
"What did you do?" Mercury asked in panic as she hurried towards him and noticed he wasn't moving. "How dare you?".
"I had to defend myself" Jupiter asked, and Mercury immediately attacked her, hitting and pinning her to the pillar, they others hurried to them, separating the angry Mercury from the confused Jupiter.
Mercury walked back to the motionless body, she sat beside him as she leaned closer and listened to his heart beat, it was pumping so fast, but she was relieved that he was alive. She looked up at Laura,
"how do we wake him up?" mercury asked but instead Laura turned to Jupiter who sat on the chair lowering her head.
"Jupiter, what spell did you cast?" Laura questioned calmly,
"I only asked him to sleep and nothing more. He's not hurt, I guess he should be up in few minutes" Jupiter answered and looked away.
Mercury heard her reply and she slowly got up, picked a pillow on one of the chairs and went back to the man and placed the pillow under his head. The others watched her silently as she arranged the sleeping man.
"he's mad about something" Seth said as he noticed nobody was saying anything "I think there's something about Jupiter that pissed him off".
"she obviously doesn't like him, so he's doing the same in return" mercury answered.
"that's not it, if he doesn't like her then that's understood but him attacking her violently wasn't the best option. There is more to just that" Adam said to her.
"Jupiter was only defending herself, were you expecting her to watch him attack and hurt her?" Olivia questioned,
"he wouldn't have hit her" mercury argued, trying to justify Kenny's actions.
"why are you letting this infatuation blind you?" Seth asked angrily and they all looked at him in surprise, it was the first time he had sounded so angry, "you don't know if this man loves you equally, you could easily protect and choose him over your sister. I could tell you straight to your face that your love for Jupiter died the same day you realized she wasn't your sister".
Mercury gasped and immediately moved at him, pinning him to the wall with force but he didn't struggle, he smiled weakly at her as he noticed the tears forming in her eyes. Olivia was coming closer, but he signaled her to stay back.
"hit me, if that would take all the pains. I am trying to anger you, I want you to see with your head and not your heart. You fought Jupiter because of him? You hit her, and you said Jupiter hates him. You should know Jupiter more than any of us" Seth said and she slowly let him go and she dropped to her knees, burying her face in her palms and sobbed harder. She couldn't explain the feelings she had, why was love treating her this way, why is her own love story different. She knew Jupiter was only trying to defend herself, but she sent her anger on her sister, she could swear they had never had a fight until now and she loved her sister more than anything or person.
She felt someone touch her, she knew those hands because they were familiar to her, she looked up to meet Jupiter's teary face.
"I am sorry" she cried as she got up, burying her face on Jupiter's shoulder and Jupiter patted her slowly, trying to sooth her.
"I understand how you are feeling and you deserve more love, not just from me" Jupiter whispered and then she looked at the man and realized he was awake, "he's up, you can go see him now".
Mercury glanced at Jupiter again and Jupiter gave her a huge smile and she hugged her tightly.
"is my face puffy?" mercury asked, and Jupiter laughed slightly.
"you won't want to know what you look like, just go and attend to him" Jupiter said, and mercury smiled slightly before walking towards Kenny who was struggling up.
"are you okay?" they asked themselves simultaneously and smiled weakly and mercury nodded.
