CHAPTER 27

“While we're on the subject, how about we go to the club tonight and see if any ideas for our assignments come up?”

“Are you certain this is a good idea?”

“What's the harm? Our lover boy will finally meet the woman he has been fantasizing about for days. Don't tell me you didn't notice how unhappy he was, especially after Damon's wedding.”

“I see now that you mention it.”

“Wait, what really happened, man?”

“You appeared to be a man in love, but why did you change after the wedding?”

“She continues to reject me,” he felt powerless when he thought about it.

“Wow. Dylan Dark, the all-powerful, was rejected by a woman! Now I'd like to meet her and find out what kind of person she is.”

“Believe me, she is a terrifying woman.”

“How come you're like that?”

“Can you choose what your heart desires?”

“If you are serious about her, we will assist you. I don't want to end up on the wrong side of the white witch. She appears to be a person who is good at holding grudges.”

“Believe me, she is a genius in that regard.”

“You seem to know your woman very well.”

“I have to, or I'll end up offending her.”

“Let's go home and meet at the club at six o'clock.”

“All right, then, let's meet there. I have something to do this afternoon, so see you later, guys,” Taylor said as he bid his friends farewell and left.

Following Taylor's departure, the three of them dispersed, each returning to their respective homes. He was on his way back to his apartment when he got a call from his father, who sounded extremely agitated.

“I need your white ass home right now!” exclaimed the old man. What was the matter with him?

He changed lanes and drove toward his family's house. This time, he may have done something so heinous that he was unaware of it. He'd find out when he got home, but for now, he'd listen to music and cheer himself up because he wasn't going to let that old man ruin his mood.

Her day didn't slow down at all. They went to the Registrar after leaving the orphanage, where she filled out the necessary paperwork and changed Mary's name to Leah Grant, her second daughter. She received her new certificates to begin her new life as a Grant.

Following that, they went shopping for Leah's clothes. Anne was extremely helpful in this regard; she had no idea what a young child like Leah wanted, so she delegated all responsibilities to Anne.

It took them about two hours to complete their first round of shopping before returning home. The maids cleaned up one of the rooms and set it up so that Leah could use it; of course, this was only a temporary arrangement while they decorated the room she would use later.

Violet retired to her room after dinner and left her two daughters to do whatever they were doing; she had no idea what they were doing. She got ready for bed after the maids assisted her with her evening bath.

Sleeping alone in that huge bed made her feel so lonely that she thought she'd do better if she was with someone.

Is it a good idea if she simply accepted Dylan's proposal? It's not as if she despised him. Will he still look at her the same way if he learns more about the kind of person she was?

Violet, Samantha's name at the time, was admitted to the hospital and nearly died because of the rape incident. But while she was in a coma, she was visited by a woman dressed entirely in black, who looked so terrifying that she got goosebumps in her state. When it came to questions, the woman was very direct.

TWENTY YEARS AGO

“Are you already a victim of this fate? Leaving those cretins who made you this way free?”

“I'm not going to let them get away with it,” she told the woman.

“Do you still want to live?”

“Of course, I do.”

“Then become one of my students. I'll wake you up and tell you what to do when you leave the hospital.”

She never saw that woman again in her dreams after that. She was released from the hospital, and things at home were awkward. She even told her mother about what had happened to her, but they didn't believe her because the main culprit, Martin, pretended to be a good person the entire time she was admitted.

She didn't believe her; she had been made a fool, so she decided to take matters into her own hands. She was going to exact her vengeance for everything that had been done to her. She was walking to school one day when a black limousine pulled up alongside her.

The chauffeur got out, opened the back door, and motioned for her to enter. She was no longer afraid of anything because she had endured every type of pain imaginable. Maybe she'd find salvation if she got into the car, so she did. It was, to her surprise, that woman.

“It's you!” she exclaimed, stunned by what she was seeing.

“Yes, it is I. Or were you hoping for someone else?”

“I don't have many friends these days.”

“I understand. Come with me,” she invited.

The limousine drove away, and she found herself in an unfamiliar location about an hour later.

“Where are we?” Violet curiously asked.

“My house,” the woman said.

She'd seen beautiful places before, but none of them compared to what she was seeing now.

“It's lovely,” she said, looking around, her eyes filled with admiration.

“You will have as many as you want one day. This will fade into obscurity.”

“Really?” she was a skeptic when she heard that.

“I will make you so powerful that those cretins will kneel and beg you for mercy. They will eat and sleep at your feet as long as you listen to what I say,” the woman coldly spoke sending shivers down her spine.

“As long as I can exact vengeance, I will do anything.”

“Once you've finished learning from me, remember that whatever you do is entirely your own choice, and our relationship will come to an end. You are not permitted to look for me unless it is a matter of life and death. Understand!”

“Yes, Ma’am.”

“My name is Qontessah and let's get started.”
