CHAPTER 67
They left the mansion and went to Violet's house, where Violet was overjoyed to see his mother. He left the women alone and braced himself for their departure at any moment.
He gave the gown to Anne, who packed it carefully and secretly, as he doubted Violet would see it. She wasn't the type to rummage through her belongings; she couldn't do it.
He went to pick up the two most important women in his life after everything was packed into the car. They proceeded to the airstrip; the plane had already been inspected, so they were free to depart.
Violet slept through the journey, but it was a peaceful one. Anne and Martha couldn't stop talking about the past, and he learned a lot about this mother because of their conversations.
Nia was waiting for them when they arrived. They were led to the palace, where Leah awaited them with bated breath. She was so overjoyed to see her mother that she refused to leave her warm arms for a few moments.
She hugged them all after her mother. They were taken to their rooms first before meeting the queen and king. They all had a great time together because they arrived before dinner. They were no longer strangers, so it was no longer strange for any of them.
Dylan left to find Nia after saying goodnight to Violet. He discovered her with Anne.
"It's a good thing you're here," Nia said.
"Are there no problems?" he asked.
"No, I just wanted to give you the final draft for tomorrow. Make sure you read it all the way through; we don't want anything to go wrong tomorrow."
"I won't screw this up, it's my big day too," he said as he took the flyer, "I'll go to bed now; see you guys’ tomorrow."
After reading the flyer, he went to his own room and went to bed, but he was only lying to himself. He couldn't sleep for the life of him. He couldn't wait for the sun to rise and make Violet his legal wife.
She didn't sleep at all; going to bed was terrifying, especially since she knew what was going to happen the next day. She opened the two boxes given to her by Qontessah because she couldn't sleep.
The first large box contained a massive golden phoenix headdress, which was most likely crafted centuries ago based on its nature. It was a masterpiece and a true treasure, most likely one of Qontessah's pieces during her reign as Empress. The following box contained a golden necklace with a ruby pendant.
This made her wonder how Qontessah knew she was starting to like red. The box also contained bangles, a bracelet, and an anklet in addition to the necklace. Qontessah knew her well; she had done more planning than she had.
To be honest, she didn't do much planning for her wedding. She expected Dylan to handle everything; after all, he was the man. The only thing that remained was for her to see her wedding gown. She was curious as to how Martha did it.
She'd see it after a while; all she had to do was wait. Her maids entered the room and informed her that her bath was ready. When she arrived, the entire place smelled wonderful, full of this calming scent that made all problems vanish into thin airs.
She dipped herself into the tub and asked the maids to assist her in taking a bath. She let the girls work their magic and then had a full body massage after the bath. Were they attempting to starve her or what?
This wasn't a day where they should do this procedure. It had been hours since it began, she had skipped breakfast, it was almost lunchtime, and she still hadn't dressed. Leah, her savior, barged in with some grapes while she was getting her hair done.
"Sweetheart!" she exclaimed.
"I brought you something to eat, Mother. Take this for now," she said as she handed her the grapes.
She took the grapes and began eating them while the stylists worked their magic. Leah vanished after she finished her meal. It appears that these people were attempting to keep her in her room because they didn't want her to leave and discover what they were up to.
The mysterious gown finally appeared after she had her hair done. To be honest, she was taken aback and shocked by the revelation. No wonder Dylan started making her wear red suddenly; he wanted to make her wear red for this day.
Wasn't red a little out of place for a wedding?
Maybe he had a reason; she'll ask him later that day when she sees him. She let the girls dress her up in that stunning red and gold gown. Martha had truly outdone herself this time. When did she find the time to sew the golden phoenix on the back gown?
Where did she get the idea to do that? She obediently slipped it on over her long, overflowing strapless gown. They dressed her in phoenix jewelry and six-inch-high black and gold stiletto heels.
After all of that, she was finally finished with her makeup and dressing.
"You look lovely, your majesty," they said.
She was still not used to being addressed as such because she spent most of her time in Dixing rather than Tawland.
"Thank you very much, ladies. Can I now leave this room?"
"I'm afraid not yet. Please wait a moment; someone will come and get you."
“Sure, I'll wait for whoever comes," she said, taking a seat.
The girls had gone, and she was alone in the bathroom, staring at herself in the mirror. She smiled as she touched her engagement ring; her first love was about to become her last. She liked the idea and came up with it.
She had been in her room for about thirty minutes when someone entered. Leah was the first to enter the room.
"Pumpkin, did you come here to save your mother?"
"Yes," she said, extending her hand.
She took it and rose to her feet. She looked stunning in her white gown with a small tiara on her head. She truly resembled a princess. She knelt and kissed her on the cheek.
"You look stunningly beautiful," she exclaimed.
"You appear to be motherly. I almost forgot to wish you a happy birthday, mother," Leah said.
"Thank you, pumpkin," she said, following her out of the room.
