CHAPTER 33

He could hear and see his friends' amusement as they walked around the mansion. On the way, he met one of Violet's personal maids, who told him that the guests should go to the dining room, while he should go to her office and look for her.

"Guys, follow her to the dining hall; I'll be there in a moment," he said as he set Leah down, “would you mind entertaining my friends for me, Leah?'

"Sure, I'll do it."

"All right, later."

He said goodbye to his friends, walked over to her office, and knocked on her door.

"Come in," she said.

He walked into the office and noticed her sitting in her chair.

"Would you please come here?"

"Of course, ma'am."

He walked over to her and sat down at her desk.

"Please tell me what you need," he spoke in a submitting tone.

"Give me a kiss and I'll accompany you to dinner with your friends."

He didn't need to be told twice; he leaned in closer, lifted her chin, and smashed her lips with his. He had a thing for doing this, especially to her. Kissing her was one of the best things that ever happened to him. She returned his kiss, tongue to tongue. After about a minute, he came to a halt and looked her in the eyes.

"I'm afraid we won't be joining them anytime soon if we don't stop."

“I wanted this. Anyway, let's go, and stay by my side."

"Sure, ma'am. So, shall we depart?"

“Yes.”

He assisted her out of the chair, escorted her out of the office, and accompanied her to the dining room, where everyone was already seated.

"Guys, this is Violet, my love, and babes, meet my friends," he said, still holding her hand.

"It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm hoping you'll tell me everything about this kid here later," she joked.

"I will," Laura said before continuing, "and it's nice to meet you, Violet. Can we call you that?"

“Yes, I don't have a problem with that," she replied.

Dylan assisted her to her seat, and when she was settled, he took a seat next to her.

"I'm hungry, so let's get some food before we talk, shall we? My babies are probably starving, just like me," she said before continuing, "don't be surprised; I'm the mother of two lovely daughters. I believe you've met Anne and Leah already."

"Yeah, we did," Laura confirmed.

"All right, let's get started."

Everyone got busy after the food was served, except Violet, who seemed to be struggling with her food.

"What's the matter, babes?"

“Nothing.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

"Then eat your meal; you indicated that you wanted meat."

“Yeah.”

He observed her as she ate small portions of the meat and looked at Anne, who shook her head. There was something wrong with this woman, and he was going to
find out what it was.

Violet awoke on the incorrect side of the bed. Her old illness had relapsed, but she was not going to tell anyone what was really going on.

FIFTEEN YEARS AGO

She was swimming, taking a break from her exhausting projects when she felt as if she had been struck by lightning. She yelled and screamed in agony, but no one could hear her.

She had been in that trance for about an hour. Her bones felt like they were being broken tendon after tendon until the pain subsided and she was a hair white witch. Because of this, she occasionally becomes ill, experiencing excruciating pain, vomiting, and nightmares.

It all started with a lack of appetite, and she knew it was just the beginning. Anne and Dylan seemed to notice, which is why she used the lovesick trick, which worked until the pain began during dinner. She couldn't chew her meat, which she desperately needed after that omelet. Dylan inquired, but she dismissed it, knowing that it would not last long.

“Can someone remove this plate please!” She was frustrated because the pain was excruciating.

"Are you all right, Mother?" Anne inquired.

"I'm fine, baby," she replied, looking at the maid who was taking her plate away, "bring me a bowl of fruits. Three bananas and some grapes."

"Of course, ma'am."

Dylan looked her in the eyes and placed his hand on top of hers.

"You don't want to eat meat anymore?"

"I guess I'll eat it another time. Don't be concerned; I'm fine."

"I hope so," he says, clutching her hand tightly.

She smiled at him, then remembered she had visitors, and said, "please enjoy."

Her fruits were brought to the table, and she ate them all, her teeth seeming to cope so well with the soft texture.

After the meal, they all went to the lounge, where she continued to listen to Dylan's friends. They were quite amusing and carefree. They told her everything there was to know about Dylan, and she forgot about the pain for a moment.

The boys excused themselves, leaving her alone with Laura. Anne had also gone to bed with Leah.

"He absolutely loves you, Violet, he truly does."

"I know; sometimes I can't believe it."

"You had better. I've never seen him so serious before, and I'm glad he's finally found someone who makes him happy."

"Even if the person has two or more children?"

"It makes no difference. What matters is that in all the years I've known him, you've been the first to bring out the best in him."

"I've heard a lot of that lately, and it's refreshing."

"But, hey, I've been dying to ask you something ever since Dylan told us about you."

"What exactly is it?"

"I hope you are not offended."

"I'll be the one to decide. Go ahead and ask."

"Is that your real hair?" Laura asked curiously.

Violet couldn't help but laugh when she heard that.

"You can get close to it. It's real."

"Are you serious? And what about the tattoo?”

"All real," she replied, and the young girl extended her hand and ran her fingers through her hair.

"Your hair is very smooth and silky. What kind of products do you use? I'd like my hair to look like yours."

"Anne will provide you with some. If you like it, you can buy it at one of our beauty products stores," she told the young girl

"Do you have those as well?"

"Pretty much everything," she answered her.

"Can I then do my attachment at one of your stores?" she tried to enter through the back door.
