CHAPTER 35

“Hey babes, it’s great to hear from you. Are you alright?” He couldn’t stop himself from asking her questions.

“I need you to come over here right away!” she yelled over the phone.

“Did something happen to you, baby?”

“You did it. Simply gather your belongings, leave your friend’s house, and come to the mansion,” she ordered.

“How did you do that?” he was in shock, surprised by how she knew about it when an hour hasn’t even passed yet.

“Have you forgotten who you’re dealing with? Tell your friend to drive you,” she said as she hung up the phone.

“Wow!”

“Was that, Violet?”

“Yes, it is she.”

“What did she want? You to look like you’d been hit!”

“I’m not sure how she does it, but she knows what happened and wants you to take me to her mansion right now,” Dylan explained to Taylor who was shocked by it

“Wow. That’s unsettling, but I like her. She is concerned about what happens to you. Let’s go, I don’t want to get on her bad side,” Taylor really found Violet a bit scary after this.

“Believe me, you certainly wouldn’t.”

He grabbed his belongings and the two of them left the apartment. Others might describe it as stalking, but she saw it differently. She did it so she could protect the people she cares about without them knowing.

And there was one thing she despised the most: someone stepping on things or people she cared about.

After everything she did for their family, those ungrateful bastards try to take away her happiness, which did not come easily. She was going to deal with them after she made sure Dylan was okay.

“The room is ready, Mother.”

“All right, then.”

“What about the job?”

“I want him to focus on school first, but after the semester is over, I want him to find something he can do.”

“Okay. Don’t worry; he’ll be there any minute.”

“Please contact Nia on my behalf and a video call will suffice.”

“Yes, I’ll go fetch the tablet.”

“Thank you,” she said as she waited for Anne to arrive.

Anne returned a few minutes later, Nia already on the line.

“I wasn’t expecting your call, Violet. Don’t tell me you’re going to cancel your visit?”

“I’m not the type to back down from a promise. I was just wondering if you could bring in more guests.”

“Of course, the more people there are, the better. And could you please bring me some hot guys, Dylan must know a few?”

“All right, then. Aside from my three children, I will bring four additional people, excluding guards.”

“Not a problem; I’ve already made plans. I’ll be waiting for you the following day.”

“I’ll bring more presents.”

“I can hardly wait!” Nia screamed.

“Bye, take care,” she said as she hung up the phone.

“You intend to take all of them!”

“Of course, the more the merrier.”

“Good idea,” Anne said, looking pleased with herself.

What was her daughter up to? She was going to learn about it and see what she was cooking behind her back.

“You can go back to your chores and leave the tablet with me. I have a few phone calls to make.”

“Should I have the maid bring you something?”

“No, I’m fine. Just make sure you’re not late picking up your sister from school.”

“There’s still time.”

“All right, and when Dylan gets here, entertain them.”

“I will,” she said as she exited the room.

After Anne had left, she dialed Martin’s number, which was answered on the first ring.

“Violet, what can I do for you?” the man asked.

“I need you to do something for me,” she told him and explained what she needed.

“All right, I’ll get my boys to work on it. When do you need it?”

“I’ll give you one week. I’ll be back in the country by then.”

“I’ll get ready then. Do you require additional security?”

“No, the men I have will suffice, but there is room for more in the club. I don’t want anything bad to happen while I’m away.”

“I’ll find the best guys and put them there.”

“Thank you very much. Take care,” she said as she hung up the phone.

She placed the tablet on the table, stood up, changed into her slippers, and exited her room. She intended to go for a walk in the garden to get some fresh air before she overheated.

Taylor parked his car in front of the mansion and was greeted by maids who took his bags, and Anne appeared seconds later all smiles.

He looked at her and noticed where she was focusing her attention. Was she attracted to Taylor? This was getting more interesting; he was going to sit back and watch it play out.

“Come on in, fellas,” she said.

“Wait for a second, Anne. Where is she?”

“You can’t even see me!”

“Do you want me to stick around?” he asked, looking at Taylor, then at her.

She appears to understand what he was implying, as she responded immediately, “she’s in the garden; look for her there.”

“Thank you, Anne,” he said, looking at Taylor, “I’m afraid I’ll have to leave you with Anne here. I have to get going.”

“It’s fine, I guess Anne will take excellent care of me.”

“She is going to. Later guys,” he said, leaving the two alone.

He went to the back of the mansion, where the garden was, but the garden was so large that he couldn’t find anyone. He wandered around the garden for about three minutes before discovering her huddled on the ground. She was scribbling on the ground.

“Babe!” he exclaimed, and she stopped drawing and lifted her head to look at him.

“You are here! Come over here,” she said, and he approached her.

She got to her feet and smiled at him.

“How did you end up?”

“Can’t I just be glad to see you?”

“I assumed you’d be upset with me.”

“I used to be, but it’s all gone now.”

“Are you certain?”

“Or do you want me to be angry?”

“No, no, no. I’m just kidding,” he said, taking her hands in his, “your hands are filthy. Let’s go wash them.”

“Sure,” she said.

They were on their way to an outside sink when she inquired, “where is Taylor?”

“He’s in the company of Anne.”

“Are they together?”

“Yes, and why are you freaking out?”

“Nothing I just have the impression that Anne is different these days.”

“Did you notice it as well? I believe something is developing between her and Taylor; we’ll have to wait and see.”

“So, your friend is the culprit?” she inquired as he slowly washed her hands.

“For the time being, yes. But he’s a nice guy.”
