CHAPTER 37
“Look who is here? What is my lovely baby sister doing all the way here?”
“I came to look at your place and you. Oh, my goodness, you’re in there!”
“Yes, how about you come over here and sit while Mary prepares the place?”
“Sure,” she said as she approached her.
“How are you doing?” she inquired.
“I’m fine; I just missed you.”
“I’m with you, cupcakes. So, what exactly is going on here? I see a lot of petals and smell some herbs.”
“It’s just something I do once in a while to keep myself healthy or something, and I can’t stop halfway.”
“Will it be harmful to your health?” the little girl asked.
“No, it isn’t which is why we’re going to catch up in here today.”
“I’m hoping that brother will understand.”
“If he doesn’t like it, he should leave and come back when I’m not doing this,” Violet didn’t care about Mike at all.
“It’s no surprise he always says you’re stubborn.”
“Leave him alone; he has his own life, just as I do.”
Mary returned with the maids holding the trays, placing hers on the small table next to her.
“Everything is in order, ma’am.”
“Good, close the curtain and invite him in.”
“Of course, ma’am.”
The maids left, and her brother walked in, and Mary offered him a seat.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t personally greet you.”
“Don’t worry, I didn’t notify you in advance.”
“So, what brings you here?” she inquired, perplexed as to why this stone man was at her house when he despises her business as if he knew her.
“Lucy, could you please go outside and look around the mansion? I’d like to talk to Sam alone here.”
“OK,” Lucy said, looking at Violet, “I’ll go look around.”
“All right, just find Mary and she’ll walk you and show you the place.”
“I’ll do it. See you later,” Lucy said as she walked away.
“What is it that you need to talk to me privately about?”
“I’m afraid this is bad news, but you must accept it as it is. The family got together and talked about it.”
“I guess I was the subject. Just spill it out and get it over with as soon as possible. When I get bad news, I tend to become very unstable.”
“You’re still not changing, and now I know why. Here you have it.......”
This was especially incredible for her. They had to send Mike of all people to deliver such important news. She was so enraged that she could feel the water in the tub boiling. She took some grapes and ate them while listening to this nonsense.
Her brother was telling her that she was not her parent’s biological child; she was apparently just a lost child who ended up on their doorstep, and because they wanted a girl child but didn’t have one, they adopted her as their own.
They gave her their name, a home, and everything they could to make her happy.
“So why are you telling me now, of all days?” she queried.
“Ever since the incident in which you accused Martin of raping you, and the things you’ve done since mom and dad have been concerned. They are even afraid to speak to you. Are you aware of what others are saying about you?”
“I don’t care about it. What I’m curious about is the real reason you’re here.”
“I’ll get right to the point. Mom and dad had decided to call it quits on their parent-daughter relationship.”
“What did they do?”
“I’m just a messenger, and I’m here to hand you the forms. You must sign them and return them.”
“Get out of my mansion right now!” She yelled at him that the curtains had blown open, and she noticed Mike’s expression, which was not sad at all.
“If you’re still sitting there in five seconds, you have no idea what I’m going to do to you. Please leave with Lucy on your way out. I don’t want to see any of you right now.”
Mike left the room, and she screamed loudly, attracting the attention of her employees, who barged into the room.
“Ma’am, are you okay?” her bodyguard inquired.
“I want to punch someone. Call Martin and tell him to come here right now, and Mary, please help me out of this tub, and someone please call Anne here!” she yelled.
She was out of the tub in under thirty seconds and out of the room in less than three minutes. She held the forms in her hands and read them several times.
“Mother! What happened to you?” Anne screamed as she dashed towards her.
Her tears streamed down her cheeks; she hadn’t cried in over two decades. Anne took the papers from her grasp and began reading them. Tears welled up in her daughter’s small eyes as she watched her daughter fall to the floor.
“How can they treat you like this? After everything you’ve done for them, they treat you this way. I’m going there right now...”
“And then what? Martin will be there shortly. I need to get somewhere before I pay
them one last visit.”
“Mother!”
“I’m just going to blow off some steam,” she comforted her daughter.
Martin finally arrived, and they all left when everything was done.
***
“Are you serious about it, Violet?”
“Do I appear to be in the mood to joke with anyone right now?”
“No, I’m sorry for bothering you.”
“All right, then, just take me to him,” Violet said as she looked away.
After about thirty minutes, the cars came to a halt in front of one of the abandoned warehouses, where her security men were waiting. They all showed her respect the moment they saw her; after all, they still knew who the big boss was.
“This way please,” Martin said, and she followed him inside.
The room was a little dark, and the only light was the one shining on where that jerk was sitting.
“So, what did this one do?”
“He offended a very powerful woman, his girlfriend, and she demands an explanation.”
“Has he said anything?”
“We just got him a few hours ago; we’re still working on it.”
“Exactly what I’m looking for. I need a very uncooperative person. Let me put this on you,” Martin said, covering her with some plastic overalls.
“I need you all to leave because I have a few questions for this man,” she explained.
Everyone had left except Anne, leaving only her and him.
“What is your name?”
“That doesn’t matter right now. What I really want to know is, who the hell are you?”
“I’m not going to tell you anything.”
“Don’t worry, I have a lot of free time. Let’s get started, shall we?” she said, preparing herself for this interrogation.
She was in a very bad mood and blowing some steam will do her some good and improve this bad mood of hers.
