CHAPTER 65
"I have fountains at home," she tried to be amusing.
"I know, but these are different," he said as he drew her in.
The water was too much for her, but she had a great time playing in it. She was experiencing new things she never thought she'd experience with Dylan by her side. She came to a halt while playing in the water and drew him to her.
"What is it?" Dylan inquired, but she did not respond verbally.
She kissed him passionately for a long time before coming to a halt.
“Wow! Babes, you never cease to amaze me. It's something we should do every day."
"We should," she said as she hugged him tightly.
She needed it, and she was not going to let anything stand in the way of her new profound love.
Dylan had taken her out on dates almost every day for the past week, except for the day she had to return the three girls to Qontessah. After completing that task, Qontessah gave one of them another box, with the same instruction as before to open the box when the time was right.
The only important day during that time was her birthday, so when that day arrived, she would open the two boxes and see what her mentor had given her.
Because she was out on dates, she delegated more responsibilities to Anne, who was now in charge of the business meetings she usually attended. It would be passed on to Anne unless it was something she couldn't handle.
It was two days before her birthday, and they were planning to leave for Tawland in the afternoon the following day. Dylan decided to take her to the park for a picnic date. She was sitting with him in the park, which was crowded with other families.
Terry had his guards surround them, preventing anyone from attempting anything. She didn't blame Terry because he was overprotective of her after a certain incident.
EIGHTEEN YEARS AGO
Violet was only sixteen years old when she met Terry for the first time on Qontessah's island. He wasn't a fighter at all; he'd been sold and was doing chores on the island.
He happened to see him training one day and he was good, even better than the other men who were being trained there. On the island, there was a rule that if you completed a mission, you could ask for anything as long as Qontessah could grant it.
When she finished one of her missions, she took advantage of the opportunity and asked Qontessah to let Terry train with the other guys. Terry began his training after she agreed. He went through a lot, but he still managed to come out on top.
When she graduated at the age of eighteen and was about to leave the island, Qontessah gave her Terry back as a parting gift. She was still somewhat normal at the time, so there were fewer issues.
FOURTEEN YEARS AGO
Violet now had a tattoo on her face and white hair, so everywhere she went, people would stare at her, which was annoying, but there was nothing she could do about it. These two things were both a curse and a gift to her, and she couldn't get rid of them.
Someone shouted 'Freak!!' and threw tomatoes at her one day while she was walking nicely without provoking anyone. She couldn't believe it; those red juices were all over her face and her clothes had become tainted. She was furious, but she couldn't do anything because there were so many people. Terry shielded her and returned her to the car.
Violet hasn't gone outside for a walk since that incident, and if she does, her guards will always be there to protect her. Terry saw how angry she was, to the point where she took her rage out on innocent trees, and those trees have never grown up.
PRESENT
They were like a dot in a circle, but she didn't mind because she was used to it. She only felt bad for Dylan, who might think it was strange, but what else could she do?
She had a reputation to uphold, and if another tomato incident occurred, she would not let that person go easily. Eating her foot on a mat was very different from eating it at her usual table.
Was it because there was so much sunshine and birds chirping and singing all around? They had finished their meal and were now just sitting there, Dylan playing with her hair and braiding it when Terry approached her.
"What is it, Terry?"
"Mrs. Grant has arrived to meet with you."
"How does she know I'm here? Let her through," she said as she awoke.
She watched as the woman she had called mother for thirty-three years approached her. She was both enraged and grateful at the same time.
"This is not my home, so please take a seat. There are no chairs," she pointed out to her.
Mrs. Grant sat down on the mat and just stared at her; to be honest, she had no idea what to say to her. She was going to let her start because she was the one who approached her.
"I went to your mansion to look for you, but they wouldn't let me in, so I called you, but it was Anne who answered. She told me you were coming, so I decided to come," Mrs. Grant explained.
"Of course, they wouldn't let you pass; I specifically instructed them not to let any Grants enter the mansion or pass through the club. So, what brings you here?"
"I wanted to apologize for how I hurt you; I was only thinking of myself and the kids, so I didn't consider your feelings."
"I turned a blind eye when you treated me harshly and let Suzy bully me even though she was only a child. I had no idea you and your father could do that to me. After all, you raised me, so why would you do that?" she asked angrily.
