CHAPTER 59
"I see you like me, which is why I'm going to give you a gift for not scolding me."
"Are you chastising me?"
"You know how things usually go. You have a temper tantrum because a child sees an older woman like me.”
"No, not at all."
"Let us not linger on it. Please extend your hand."
"Why my hand?"
"This is your present."
“Okay.”
Violet took the woman's hand in hers, closed her eyes, and placed her palm against hers. It was a gift from her mentor Qontessah, and it helped her win over people by telling them their fortunes.
"Are you going to invest in your friend?" Violet inquired of Rita Dark.
"How did you find out? Can you tell fortunes?"
"Only a little. Now, can you answer my question?"
"That is something I intend to do. I'm just going to keep pushing it, which is why I haven't done it yet."
"It's a good thing you haven't made any investments yet."
“Why? Is there something wrong with her company?"
"The issue is you, Rita. You've always been interested in flowers, so that's what you're interested in. Don't be discouraged if you think you're getting old. You will succeed if you pursue your dream. Look for a florist business, invest in one, or start your own. Even if you start small, things will go well because you have a strong desire."
"I can't believe you're aware of this. I couldn't do it; all I could think about was putting my husband's name in jeopardy."
"Follow your heart, and nothing will go wrong, as I said. Your name will become even more well-known. But keep it in mind wholeheartedly, and don't neglect your family in the process. Family is what keeps us going and gives us the energy to do so."
"Thank you for informing me of this. Now I understand why your children adore you."
"Just don't make any distinctions between them. You never know which of them will end up assisting you if you fall in a ditch."
"We consider ourselves fortunate to have you as a member of our family."
"I, too, am honored. And, as a bonus, stop doubting your husband. He may have loved her in the past, but that is no longer the case. He doesn't have any other women besides you, so please stop following him around."
"Are you aware of that?"
"Something along those lines. I should be leaving right now because I need to see your husband."
"All right, I'll take you to him."
Rita escorted her to Don's study, where he was conversing with his two sons. He dismissed all of them upon their arrival, and she remained with him.
"I guess you struck a chord with my fiery wife."
"She is actually a nice woman, a woman who adores you and will go to any length for you."
"Is that correct?"
"So, forgive her for all the evil deeds she committed in the past. I believe she regrets them every day."
"I've forgiven her a long time ago."
"All right, then. Don, I have a business proposal for you. It could be for a long time."
"I'm all ears; tell me everything."
"What are your thoughts on entering politics?"
“Politics? I never considered it."
"Something will happen this year, and you must seize the opportunity when it presents itself. If you are interested in running for president next year, you must campaign for it."
“Presidency?”
"If there's one thing I know about you, Don, it's that you're a very ambitious man, which is a good thing. Your fortune tells me that you are destined for greater things, and if you decide to pursue them, I will lend you a helping hand.
Anne will send you the necessary information, and if you have any questions, please let me know. I'm not putting pressure on you because I want to use you or something.
I already have a lot of support, but I just want to help. This country requires a visionary, not a coward. Don, you can be that."
"Give me a moment to think about it."
"I'd love to stay, but I'm afraid I'll end up boring you."
"Violet, you are not a bore."
"Thank you for mentioning that. I still have to go; Leah is leaving the next day, so I need to finish things up."
"Of course, take care. And once again, thank you for coming."
"It's my pleasure."
She exited the study and went home to her family. They returned to the Dark mansion immediately after leaving it.
"Are you certain about this?" Dylan inquired of Violet.
"Do you believe I made a mistake in my judgment?"
"I didn't mean it that way. It's just that being president is on a different level."
"What's the big deal about it? One only needs to be able to serve the country honestly and bring it to a point where no one suffers, everyone is happy, and whatever they do while in that office. Anyone with the desire can obtain that title.
"All you need is the opportunity and the backing."
"I'm still concerned. I'm curious how he'll react."
"We'll see after he collects his thoughts. Can you please give me a massage for the time being? I'm going insane right now."
“Sure. Lie down here," he said, and Violet did the same.
He began massaging Violet's shoulders while she closed her eyes after she lay down. He only realized she had fallen asleep when she remained silent. He stopped massaging her, wrapped her in sheets, and exited the room.
He invited his friends over because it was afternoon, but they were all busy except for Laura, who arrived after an hour of his call. He met her at the club, which had only recently opened.
"How are you? You called me this early to go out for a drink?"
"How come I can't see my bestie even during the day?"
"Come on, man, you understand what I'm saying."
"I understand. Let's sit over there," he said, motioning to an open space in a corner.
They walked over and sat comfortably before the waiter took their orders. When their margaritas arrived, he gulped them down.
