CHAPTER 45

That smile, he was such a lucky young man.

"You're right there!" Nia said as she approached him.

“Nia!”

"What are you looking at?" she inquired as she took his phone, "oh, it is her!"

“Yes. Isn't she lovely?"

"She is, and it breaks my heart to see her like this. Can I tell you a secret?”

“Sure.”

"I have a thing for her."

“What?”

"I knew you'd react that way but listen to me."

"All right," he said and began to listen.

Nia had a crush on Violet for about three years, even though she had never met her face to face. Violet first met her at an airport, where she noticed that she appeared confident and walked tall.

She happened to see her on the internet and began looking for more information about her, which took her nearly two years. She had her photos; she studied her, though she had less information because Violet was a difficult woman to track down.

She jumped at the chance to go to Dixing, their home country. She went to see Violet during that visit, and when she saw her, she realized she was late.

Violet was in love with someone else, and that person was Dylan, so she didn't say anything. Nia was fine with it as long as Violet was happy. She would do anything for her, but she knew her heart would never belong to her.

"That is why I am delighted that she will become my sister," Nia explained.

Violet was no longer a Grant, according to Anne, because Violet was so upset to talk about it, and he didn't ask her about it. But the idea of having a sister was so foreign to him that he inquired of the princess.

"Is that your sister? What do you mean?”

"My parents are going to adopt her. She'll have parents, and I'll have a sibling."

“Wow. That's great news."

"Didn't you know?"

"I'm not sure because it's been hectic."

"She has her reasons, and they discussed it this morning before they left for wherever they were going. So, don't be sad; she'll tell you eventually."

“Yes.”

To be honest, he wasn't feeling well, so he excused himself and went to Violet's room, where he slept on her bed. Her scent was all over the place, giving the impression that she was right there with him.

He simply desired for her to be able to share her burdens with him. He must have dozed off because when he opened his eyes, she was standing next to him, smiling at him.

“Babes, when did you get here?"

"About a twenty-minute ago," she explained.

"You should have jolted me awake."

"I didn't want to wake you up because you were sleeping so soundly. I'm missing you.

"I miss you as well. Come here," he said, and she re-entered his embrace.

"I have something to tell you!" she told him.

"Please tell me."

She started from the beginning, which is how her family abandoned her and how she ended up being adopted by the royal family.

"I should have told you sooner, but I couldn't."

"I am relieved that you have finally opened up to me. Thank you for informing me, even though I won't be much help given my own situation."

"Don't worry about it when we get back to Dixing; everything will be fine."

"What are your plans?"

"There's nothing fancy about it; it's just a huge surprise. That's it."

“Violet!”

"Please, let us just stay like this for a while and refrain from worrying about
anything."

"All right," he said, surrendering to her and kissing her on the cheek.

He wouldn't mind sleeping like this for much longer, holding each other and listening to each other's heartbeats.

The days following the birthday banquet were extremely busy. Violet, Anne, and Leah had to obtain new identification and citizenship after the royal family announced the adoption decree to the entire Tawland.

Fortunately for them, Tawland and Dixing could have dual citizenship. What was even more shocking were the phone calls from her homeland, attempting to win her over and all.

The Queen summoned her to her salon on another occasion.

"Did you call for me?"

"Yes, please take a seat."

As the queen had instructed, she sat.

"I wanted to speak with you because you're leaving for Queensland in a few days."

"Please feel at ease."

“You love Dylan, don't you?”

"Yes, I do."

"Are you not afraid of being persecuted because you are seeing a young child?"

"Whoever tramples on me, I will deal with them. I have the right to love and be with whomever I choose."

"I admire your fiery personality and your candor. I just wanted to confirm that and tell you that if you decide to get married, you can come here, and we will host your wedding."

"If he asks, I will have the wedding as soon as possible, but I don't believe he will at this time. He is poor and still a student."

“How can a Dark be broke?”

"It happened because his family doesn't like the idea of us being together."

"Everyone is going to come and lick your feet now. Don't worry about anything; just be happy."

"I'll take your advice."

"How come you can't leave Leah here? I'd be delighted to have a child running around the palace."

"I'll talk to her about it, and she'll have to finish her semester to avoid confusion. There is only one month until the end of the year."

"That makes perfect sense. You haven't had a chance to look around yet. I'll let you go, and please let Leah come here."

"I'll have someone contact her on your behalf."

“Thanks.”

"I'm going to leave."

Violet exited the salon and found a maid outside whom she directed to find Leah and bring her back to the salon.

Everything happened in an instant; Violet was an ordinary witch one moment and a royal witch the next. He knew one thing for certain: the royal family didn't have the full picture, which was a good thing.

They were leaving Tawland the next day and returning home, but he would be lonely because Violet was not accompanying him.

"Man, you've been acting like that for hours. What is it that bothers you?" Taylor
asked.
