Chapter Fifteen

“Then why do you keep yelling at me?”
“Because you keep questioning me. Everything I do is for your safety! Everything I would do is to keep you safe. I need you to trust me some times because if something happens to you, I would kill myself and I need you to understand that okay?”

They got interrupted.

“Anna, we have to go now” Alex said, coming in.

She dragged her box and walked out of the room. Damian sighed and got ready to go to the airport. She spend the day packing up. Her phone beeped. It was Damian.

“Hey mama, how are you doing? How is packing coming up? You said you had some shopping to do. Send me a list. I will pick up everything on my way back home”

She replied him, texting him a list of things she wanted to get. He replied her

“Got it” he texted back with a lot of heart emoji. She smiled at her phone.
“Now, you’re texting him and smiling. If I didn’t know better, I would say you are in love with him but I remember you saying you don’t believe in love”
“Maybe, maybe not. What’s up?” she asked.
“I wanted to talk to you. About earlier, I didn’t mean any of the things I said. I wouldn’t back down on trying to bring mom back but I wouldn’t ask you to do it if you don’t want to. It’s understandable that you want her to rest or something but I just got my family back and I’m not about to lose any other member of it”
“Its not about losing someone. It’s about accepting reality. Mom said you would learn the hard way, that it is the only way you learn so I’m not going to talk you out of it. I’m just going to keep watching you do whatever you want to do and hope for the best” she said.
“Did you just say Mom said that? When did she say that?” he asked
“You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you!”
“What? You can talk to the dead now?” he said scornfully
“Exactly, but you don’t believe that. Either ways. While you’re at your quest, can you please go to mom’s and get my other box? There is something I need to take from it”
“I thought you moved out completely “ Alex said
“I said I was going to. I didn’t actually move out totally”
“Whatever. I will be back soon”

He said as he got up and sped out of her room. She finished her packing and tucked in her mother’s journal in her school bag. Night fell quickly. Arielle was at their place. They felt it was easier for them to move if they were together. She picked up her phone to text Damian when he called her. She sighed and picked up the phone

“Hey babe” she heard him say
“Hey, are you home yet?”
“Yeah, just got in a while back. I might have to go out soon. It’s been a while since I fed directly from a life source so I’d be doing that tonight”
“Alright. Just stay safe”
“I would. I will come home immediately I am done. Don’t wait up for me. I would probably give you a text when I get home. Go to bed. You would need all the rest you can get. The flight to Cordina is two days and we would obviously have to make stops”
“Alright boss!” she said
“Who the hell is boss? Don’t play like that. I love you. I always have and probably always will. You don’t have to say it back. I didn’t say it so you could say it back. I said it because I wanted you to know how I feel about you and it’s not going to change”
“I know. Let me know when you get hope”
“Alright baby, have a nice night sleep” he said and he hung up.

She finished up with her packing and went straight to bed. She woke up the next morning and met Damian in her room. How long has he been there? She didn’t hear him come in which was weird. He must have been so silent.

“Good morning sleepy head” he said
“Hey, Good morning. How long have you been here?”
“A couple of hours. Alex let me in”
“Oh, Alex is up? How long did I sleep?” she asked, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hands.
“A whole lot. When I came in, Alex said you wouldn’t be up until later. I thought I told you to go to bed immediately and not wait up for me”
“I wasn’t waiting up for you. Don’t flatter yourself. When you called, I wasn’t done with packing so I decided to finish up before heading to bed”
“You really did go all out with the packing. How long exactly are you planning on staying in Cordina?” he asked her, unsure if she had other things to do there
“I don’t know, I should be asking you that!”
“I am just going to Cordina for one month. I will be coming back to Central ville the next month, all things being equal”
“A month? You plan on showing me around in just one month?” she asked.
“Yeah, pretty much”
“How small is Cordina?”
“How and why would you call Cordina small?”
“You just said you were going to show me around in a month. If Cordina is a big city then how is it possible to show me around in one month?”
“Just get ready” he said as he kissed her forehead and walked out of her room. Their flight wasn’t until twelve noon. He walked around to find something to do. He pulled out his phone to call Justin. Justin wasn’t picking up the call. He was worried about him. It was unlike Justin to go ghost mode on him and not pick his calls. He decided to talk to Annabelle about it since they were in contact of recent. She eventually came down and he helped her with her bags and dropped it in the car. He got in with the rest of the crew and headed for the airport. There was this respect every worker in the airport had for him. Anna couldn’t understand it. She decided to ask about it later. The flight to Cordina was a long one and she spent most of it looking out the windows and asking Damian a lot of questions.
“Do you think your mom would like me?” she asked
“I don’t think she would hate you”
“That is not an answer to my question”
“I am just nervous”
“You are her best friend’s daughter. I think she would love you”
“Did you tell her? About mom?”
“No, not yet. I would when I get there. I don’t want to get her all tensed when I’m away. It’s not like my father is ever around to watch or take care of her. I would rather give her the bad news when I’m there to watch her than when I’m far away. It’s just easier to look after her while I’m close than when I’m far”
“How can you do that?”
“What am I doing?” Damian asked, unsure of her question.
“Love your father?”
“I don’t know. He is my father. It’s not like I have a choice in this. I kind of don’t. He taught me to hunt. He taught me to kill”
“He literally taught you to be what? A monster?” she subconsciously blurted out
“Is that what you think I am?”
“Obviously not but I don’t think he is worth your love or anything. You’re a very amazing person and you definitely do not deserve your dad”
“You don’t even know him!”
“And I don’t think I want to. I already have part of the answers I need and I don’t think I need all the answers anymore”
“And if you’re wrong?”
“Then maybe I don’t want to be right” Anna said, looking away from him, avoiding his eyes
“You are going to eventually get married into my family. Would you hate him forever?”
“What if I am right? What if I have been right all along. I mean, that is the only way the story makes sense to me!”
“Then look for another way! You are supposed to love me and love all of me and that all of me includes my father if he has done you no harm”
“I don’t have to like anybody Damian. You know this. I will have to come back one day and take my rightful place in Cordina and your dad would try to stop me you know all these. It’s the prophecy you wrote down in your diary. Yes! I went through it and I’m sorry I did but you know what it means. If I don’t find your father innocent, I will put him down and I need to know if you’re with me or not!” she said.
She stood up and walked down the isle to get another seat since it was a private plane
