CHAPTER THIRTY ONE

“Want to talk about what happened back there?” Justin asked him
“Talk about what? There is nothing to talk about! I let my father go because I knew that she was going to kill him over night! I did it!” Damian admitted to his best friend
“You know you shouldn’t have” Justin said calmly
“I had to! I had no choice. Something about this story is not adding up and I need to know what exactly it is. I don’t believe that my father would wake up one morning and decide to be a bad person for no reason! C’mon, does that make any sense to you? Because it doesn’t make any sense to me!” Damian yelled at him
“Maybe you should calm the hell down! Making an enemy of your girlfriend is the last thing you need and it is the last thing she needs too. You have to be there for her and you have ti be there for your father. I get that but right now, you ate only being there for your father. You sleeping in her room wouldn’t change the fact that you’re still choosing your dad over her!” Justin said to him
“Then what am I supposed to do?” Damian asked him
“I don’t know okay? I just don’t think you’re doing what’s right at this point. The first thing you should do is to tell Anna that you’re the reason your dad escaped. She has to be able to trust you and right now, you are giving her every reason not to trust you. You say you’re on Anna’s side but you are doing everything to frustrate her plans” Justin said
“Justin, she wants to kill my father by all means necessary! What the hell am I supposed to do? Stand by and watch her kill my dad?” Damian asked
“I don’t know but at this rate, you would lose both your dad and your girlfriend. Stopping her from killing your dad is way different from helping your dad break out if his own prison, c’mon! What would the entire pack think? That your mother can’t keep her own prisoners in check? You don’t realize what you did, you acted out and now it’s going to make a big mess. You should clean up that mess before it gets out of hand” Justin said as he turned and headed into the house

Damian rubbed his forehead and sighed. He was so confused and he was barely keeping it together. He went into the house and headed for his room. He packed up a box, enough to last him for a couple of days. He carried the box into his car

“And where do you think you’re going?” Sally asked him
“I need space from all this, I need space from all of you. I am going to find somewhere to stay till I am sure of who is my friend and who is my enemy” he said to his sister
“Yeah, that is what you always do, leave. Why is it not surprising this time?” Anna said to him
“Don’t you ever speak like that to me again, Ever!” he said to her
“Or what? You’d kill me? Yeah, it is not The first time you’re doing that, is it?” She said to him
“What do you mean by that? You know it was a freaking mistake and I was not in my right state of mind. Why do you have to bring that up? It wasn’t something I did on purpose! Why are you making it look like I did it on purpose? I thought you forgave me!” Damian screamed at her
“I am supposed to forgive you?” she asked
“Yes! You are supposed to forgive me! This is why we’ve been having so many issues! What else can I do you make it up to you?! What the hell do you want from me, Annabelle? What? Because I have tried my best to please you, to make things right before you, to make things work between us but you have held this grudge for so long and I don’t think I can do this anymore. Whatever is going on between us, it’s over. I can’t keep doing this!” he said
“Damian…”
“No, Justin! Don’t call me. Don’t even think about calling my name or trying to talk me out of it. It is a decision I have made and I am not going to change my mind for any reason. I am done with trying to fix what can not be fixed. Tell my mom that I’ll see her around!” he said

He dragged his bag and walked out of the house. Annabelle could tell that he was hurt and maybe broken but she knew that for her to kill Phillip successfully, she needed Damian out of the way and this was it. He slammed the front door and she heard his car zoom off

“What was that about?” Her brother asked her
“It is what needs to be done. I can’t have him here and try to kill his father because whether we like it or not, Damian does love his father and he thinks that there is still some good in him” Anna said
“And you disagree?” Justin asked
“Justin, it Is not about what I agree or disagree with, it is about what I need to do. It is about what needs to be done. Damian would always love his father. His father thought him to hunt, kill, feed and every other thing. These are memories and events that Damian holds . It would break him to have his girlfriend kill someone he can’t help but love. That is why I can’t be his girlfriend again, at least, not for now. We have to find Phillip before someone else gets hurt” she said
“And how do you intend on finding him?” Arielle asked, who had been silent for a while
“I don’t know, really. I just don’t know but we will find a way” Anna said
“And what happens when you find him?” Justin asked her
“I would give Damian the opportunity that he wants. I would let him ask all the questions he wants to ask and then let him find his answers but after that, I would do what I have to do to keep everybody else safe from him and if that includes putting him down permanently, I would not hesitate to do what needs to be done” She said
“Since you know what you want then I can organize a search party then” Justin said to her
“That would be really helpful” she said to him

He nodded to her and left to organize one as everybody else went about their day. Weeks passed and so did months but there was nothing from him. Anna knew that he wouldn’t turn up in time and she was fine with waiting for the entire holiday if she had to. She already postponed her resumption and she was fine with that. She headed up to her room and she felt a presence. Before she could attack, she felt a knife go through her chest. She fell to her knees and laid there, temporarily dead.
It was almost noon after breakfast when Sally became really worried about her

“Has anybody heard from Anna today?” she asked Arielle and Alex who were in the living room
“I thought she was still in bed” Arielle said
“I don’t know, it is unlike her to stay so late in bed. I think I would go check up on her” Sally said as she got up and headed to the room
She knocked on the door when she got there
“Anna? Are you okay?” she asked but got no reply

She knocked again

“Annabelle?”

Sally still got no reply so she let herself in and saw that the room was empty. She saw traces of blood on the floor and she became worried. She checked the restroom and the closet but Anna wasn’t in either of the two places. Sally ran down to the living room

“Guys! Anna is missing!” she said
“What do you mean by she is missing m I saw her enter her room last night. We went up together. She is probably somewhere in the house. Stop panicking. I would call her phone” Alex said

He called her phone and it did ring from her bedroom. Sally went up to her room and Alex and Arielle followed her this time. He saw the traces of blood on the floor and he froze. He looked around.

“Is this some sick joke? If it is Anna, you can come out now!” he said to nobody in particular

Sally walked up to the bed and saw a piece of paper on the pillow. It was a note. She picked it up and read it out loud

“She is safe with me, for now. I need your mother to step down as ruler of all divisions. It is time for a vampire to take over. For years, wolves have ruled this division and that is about to come to an end. Tell your mother to step down and Anna lives. If you think she can’t die because she is hybrid then you’re wrong. Everybody dies when they are supposed to and your mother knows that the oak stake would do just the job. The throne for Annabelle, Phillip.”
