CHAPTER FORTY

“The last option is the deadliest” she said
“I don’t want to hear it. We would find another way” Damian said, turning to leave the room
“Listen to her! She is the only one providing solutions for Anna so let’s listen to what she has to day” Alex said
“Alright, fine! Let’s waste our time while Anna is in pain. Let’s talk about all the things we can and can’t do!” Damian said, yelling at nobody in particular
“You are upset, we get it, we all get it. We are all upset. We have our different reasons to be upset but she spent hours digging up ways just so Anna can get better. We get that you care about her but we all care about her! Hell, she is my sister, the only family I have left. I want her back more than anything. I want her fine more than I want to be fine but I can’t come up with solutions right now because I have none. Sally has some. Let’s listen to her and if you can’t do that, take a walk!” Alex yelled back
“You both need to take a walk. Arielle and I can handle the rest of this” Justin said
“No! Let’s hear it” Damian said
“The last one is Damian’s venom” she said
“I don’t understand” Damian said to her
“Damian’s venom is the closest thing that is compatible with hers. His wolf venom can counteract the magic. I am hoping it does” Sally said
“What do you mean by hoping?” Justin asked
“I mean this is the deadliest option we have. The venom of a hybrid is the deadliest of all venoms. His bite can either cute her or kill her” Sally said
“What are the chances of it killing her?” Damian asked
“Eighty percent” Sally said
“So her chance of survival is twenty percent and you want me to take that option? Are you crazy?” Damian asked
“As I said, it is the deadliest. It might work and it might not. I can’t say for certain” Sally said
“I am going to take that walk that Justin spoke about earlier. We have to find another way” Damian said as he walked out of the room
“And my venom?” Alex asked
“Why are you asking about yours?” Sally asked
“I feel like the last option is the only way to heal her faster and Damian would never agree to it even if his life depends on it. What is the likelihood that I can use my venom to heal her?” Alex asked
“I don’t know. I can check it out but I would need your venom” she said
“That should not be an issue” Alex said

Damian walked out and decided to take a walk when he ran into someone he hadn’t seen in a long while, Isabelle. He remembered how he was betrothed to her before he left for the central and how he had asked his mom to send her away before he came back

“Damian, it is so good to see you again” she said
“Isabelle? I didn’t know you were still in these parts. I thought you probably left Cordina for greener pastures” he said
“I actually didn’t. I just stayed busy. Besides, my ex boyfriend is not king of Cordina. I don’t think I’m leaving anytime soon. How is Annabelle?” She asked
“She is fine but….” He stopped talking
“But what?” she asked
“How did you know that Annabelle had returned home because the last announcement I made about Annabelle was that she was missing and we were still looking for her” Damian asked curiously
“I guess news travels fast” she said to him
“I hope it’s just news traveling fast” he said looking at her

He looked behind her and saw Odette standing there. He shook his head. Something was definitely wrong. The last time he saw or spoke to Odette was after she put a spell on him and made him go after Annabelle.

“Another girlfriend, I see?” Isabelle said
“She is not another girlfriend. She is a friend. She used to come over so often back then but things happened and we fell out. There is nothing between us and I am about to find out why she is still in Cordina” Damian said as he walked up to her

She saw him approach her and she turned to leave

“Odette! Hold on” he said with authority, making her freeze on the spot
She turned around and looked at him. She let out a little smile and tried to maintain her confidence which was wavering now
“I don’t know how I am supposed to greet you now. Is it the normal way or am I supposed to bow before you and day, your highness?” She said
“I don’t care how you greet me. I didn’t know you were still around. What are you doing here?” he asked
“I live in Cordina. What do you mean by what am I doing here?”
“I thought you would have left Cordina after what you did”
“And what did I do?” she asked him
“Don’t try to play stupid with me. I don’t even want to have this conversation with you” Damian said with disgust, written boldly on his face
“How is Annabelle? I heard she was missing and I hope she stays missing” she said
“Why do you hate Annabelle so much? What did she ever do to you to warrant such hate?” Damian asked
“She came here and she ruined our lives. We were perfect together and then you brought her here!” she said
“What do you mean by we were perfect together. I was betrothed to Isabelle. I was never going to end up with you, Odette. Would you have hated Isabelle too?”
“Yes, I would have hated all of them! I would have hated every single one of them. I was supposed to end up with you and you know this. We slept together!”
“That was a long time ago and you promised never to bring that up! Stop it. We were never destined to be together, Odette. I understand that you love me or have some sort of attraction towards me and that is really okay but I am in love with someone else and I’d you love me at all, you would let me be happy with her” Damian said
“That is something that can never happen, Damian. You would never be happy without me. I would make sure you suffer until you realize that I am the one for you and no one else!” she said
“If you pose to be a threat to me or my happiness, I would have you locked up, thread carefully, Odette!” he said as he walked on

She looked at him and shook her head. She wished things were not this hard between them but he had chosen it to be this way. She watched him walk away and she turned to leave

“You know you can’t end up with him, Odette” she heard her say
“If I can’t end up with him, then he can’t end up with anybody else. I would make sure of that” she said, looking at Isabelle
Isabelle shook her head and walked away. She had to pay a visit to somebody. She got into her car and drove off. After three hours drive, she stopped in front of the house and walked down
“I have been expecting you” he said
“I am sorry, I ran into your son” she said
“He is not my son. He is a bastard!” he said with annoyance
“I don’t care who he is to you. He is on his feet and it would be impossible to capture Annabelle again. You have to find another way to settle your obsession with Annabelle. Her boyfriend would not let her out of sights again and she has her brother. He already doubled the guards in the palace and it is difficult to get into the house unnoticed” she said
“I think magic has no limit” he said
“There is a boundary spell around the house now. It would be difficult to get into the house, even with magic. It is not an easy task” Isabelle said
“Then find a way. Remember, he was supposed to get married to you and not Annabelle! She is right there, taking a spot that you were supposed to fill! It is your right!” Phillip reminded her
“I would find a way into the house” she said
“You will find a way, I don’t doubt that. What I doubt is when you would find a way. We are running out of time here and remember, your mother’s life is in my hands right now. Time waits for no one and that includes your mother. Get me a way into the house in five days and I would let your mother go” he said to her

She looked at him with hate in her eyes. She didn’t know why she was helping him. She felt Damian had stolen done tears of her life and she wanted to vet back at him for it but helping Phillip wasn’t the way and she knew this but he had left her no choice
