Chapter Twenty Two

“I think we are getting ahead of ourselves here. Odette has a boyfriend and she does love him. They have been together way before I left Cordina and decided to school in the central”
“Maybe she does have a boyfriend but does she love him though? I doubt that. She is obviously interested in you and I think you know this too”
“Maybe” He admitted. “We did have something before and I slept with her but that was where it ended. After that, we decided to keep things on the friendship level. We tried to but then it didn’t work. One night, she came over and we had sex again. The next morning, she cane with the news of she had found love” Damian said
“And when you were sleeping with her, did you feel anything for her?” Anna asked
“I don’t understand. Feel anything?”
“Were you in love with her when you were sleeping with her?”
“Love is a strong word. I wasn’t in love with her. I did want her though. You could say I lusted after her but love? I was never in love with Odette”
“That is probably why it was so easy for you to let it go. She was in love with you and it was harder for her to let go and she thought that if she found a distraction, another boyfriend, it would be easier to let go and that is why she has been with him”
“I highly doubt that”
“I expect you to. You’re a playboy” she said subconsciously
“No, I am not! I might have been but don’t use my past to judge me. Ever since I met you, I have stuck with you regardless. I have been loyal even when you weren’t. Don’t call me what I was. It is not who I am right now and you know this”
“You are sleeping with someone you consider to be your younger sister. What the hell am I supposed to think about you?”
“That was me before we met! It was me, but that is the past and you have no right at all to judge me. C’mon! You were making out with Caleb”
“I wasn’t in a relationship with you when I did that”
“Neither was I dating you when I slept with Odette!” he said, raising his voice. His eyes glowed and his fangs were out

Anna could see his father in him, more than ever. He had terrible anger issues and although she had pushed it out of him, he was going to hurt her one of these days. She looked at him and shook her head

“I’m sorry” he said
“Yeah, you are. What were you going to do? Hit me? You are unbelievable Damian!”
“I wasn’t going to!”
“Really? Because your claws are out!”

He looked down and he saw his hands. He moved back from her. He took deep breaths. It was unlike him. He was never this angry. Something was wrong with him and he knew it. He had never lashed out at anybody this way, not even her and she was way more annoying than this! He walked out of the room. That was the last time she saw him that morning. She decided to stay in the room for the rest of the day. She wasn’t still herself. She was asleep when her brother walked into the room. He looked at her and that pang of guilt came again. There was no making up for almost killing his sister. He sat on her bed, beside her and touched her hair. He leaned in and kissed her forehead. She moaned softly and opened her eyes

“Hey, I didn’t mean to wake you up. I just wanted to check if you were fine” Alex said
“I am. What’s wrong? Do you need me for something?” she asked him
No, I don’t. I haven’t seen you all day and I really need to talk to you about something”
“What is that? I’m listening” she said
“Yesterday, I tried to bring mom back. I got everything I needed to get and even cut myself a million times because a bowl of my blood was needed and I was healing too fast to fill it. I went to extreme ends just so I can have my mom back, just so I can give you your mother back and we can become a family again. I knew that there was going to be a price to pay and I thought it was going to monetary. I didn’t know it was going to be a life for a life”
“You didn’t know” Anna said
“That doesn’t make it any better. If I didn’t cone home when I did and stayed with Elma, you would have been dead and the spell is irreversible once it’s done”
“But you came home and I am not dead yet”
“And that is just supposed to make it better?” Alex said
“C’mon Alex. I am here because of you. You could have chosen to bring mom back regardless of what the price was even after you found out that it was me. Don’t beat yourself up over it and don’t feel guilty about it. I think we should just let the past be the past and we should move on from it. You are the only family I’ve goy and I think we should make the best of that” she said

He looked at her with tears in his eyes. He couldn’t explain how lucky he felt to have her. She was everything he wanted. She stuck by him no matter what. He had made mistakes, said so many things that hurt and she was still there, overlooking every flaw he had and loving him all the same. She made his imperfections null and by doing that, it never affected her love for him. He sniffed

“I feel so luck to have you”
“I guess the feeling is mutual” she said to him

When he first came here, he was not sure if she was going to accept him as a part of her life or her family. He had stayed away from her or their mom for the first three years of his arrival in the central. He wasn’t ready to be rejected by his family that he fought so hard to be reunited with but he was wrong. All she ever did was welcome him with open arms over and over again.

“There was a plus side to it though!” he said
“A plus side to me dying?” she asked
“You know what I mean. I got to see Mom” he said
“You got to Mom? How is she?” Anna asked
“I don’t know. How is the dead supposed to be?” he asked her
“I don’t know either”
“She did look normal though, almost younger. She said something to me though
“What is that?” Anna asked
“Something about dad not being dead” he said, looking at his sister
“I don’t understand. You said Damian…”
“I know what I said, trust me. I don’t have memory loss but she is saying that Dad might still be alive somewhere because can’t find him in the ancestral world which is not supposed to be so. He is the first person that is supposed to see her when she dies but she still can’t find him anywhere” Alex said
“If what you’re saying is true, then dad is alive somewhere”
“And she wants us to find him” Alex said, completing her sentence

She looked at him and he looked back at her. She didn’t know what to think. She was sure Damian had killed her father and she was mad at Damon’s dad, Phillip for using his son to do his dirty work. What I’d her father wasn’t even dead? What if he was hiding? So many questions ran through her mind. She needed answers and she wasn’t getting any.

“Don’t start to worry about that. Mom said when the time is right, we will find all the answers we are looking for and when we do, we should brace ourselves for the worst. I don’t know the future”
“What worst?” she asked him”
“I have no idea. If I did, we would be talking about it. Just don’t over worry. Where is Damian?” he asked
“Out. I don’t know where he went” she said
“Are you guys okay?” he asked
“Yeah. He just went to grab somethings. He should be back soon”
“Alright. You should take a walk though. You look like you need the sun”
“I will, if you would take it with me” she said
“We have a deal. Go get dressed. I’ll be down in the living room” he said as he stood up and left her to get ready

She got up, took a shower and got dressed and heads out. Her brother offered he his hand and she took it. He locked her fingers in his and they headed out into the sun
