Chapter Sixty Eight

Damian nodded at her before going through the door and he woke up. He looked at his phone and saw that he had only been out for three hours. He walked up to Anna’s room and saw that it was empty. She was dressed in a black dress and he touched her face, not understanding why they would want to bury her immediately. He heard a knock on the door frame and he turned around. He saw Alex dressed in black and he was in a suit

“What is going on?” Damian asked him
“As the surviving family of the deceased, I can decide when, how and where to bury her and I want to bury her immediately so you don’t do something stupid. She would be burnt in the river so that her soul may find peace” Alex said
“You will do no such thing until I have tried every way to get her back! I saw my mom” he said
“You saw your mom?” Alex scoffed
“I know this is going to sound crazy but Anna is still alive and I need your help to get her back. I went to my mom’s room to cry my eyes out and I slept off. I saw my mom in this room, filled with lights bright enough that they cast no shadow and she said that Anna is still alive. I believe her and I am going to bring her back so cut the crap of a burial because she is not getting burnt until I say so!” Damian said
“You don’t have that authority! I am the last surviving family….”
“Of the deceased. I heard you the first time but I am King of Cordina and she is from Cordina so I am telling you that she is not going to be buried until I have tried every possible way! Now are you going to stand here and argue with me all day or you are going to help me?” Damian said to him

Alex looked at him and sighed. A part of him wanted to believe Damian had a way to bring his sister back but another part of him was convinced that this was all a waste of time and it was just Damian trying to prolong the inevitable but there was no harm in trying. She was gone already and if there was no way to bring her back, nothing was going to change. Damian was going to give up and eventually, he would be the one to bury her.

“Fine, what do you need my help with?” Alex asked him
“Get the team and find me Grace! I need to do this as soon as possible so I don’t have regrets” Damian said

Alex sped off and he came back with everybody

“Damian, it is of no use! You have to let her go, I understand that it is hard for you but you have to let it go” Sally said
“I didn’t call you here to ask for permission. I came here so you can stand guard and protect me if anything happens out here” he said
“What do you need me to do?” Grace asked him
“I want you to send me into Anna’s mind” he said to her
“I can’t do that. Look, I know you want to save her but if that is the way you want to go about it then you are not going to get any help from me. She is dead! Going into her mind is a gamble. You can die in there. She is dead and her mind is like a lost world until she crosses over into the ancestral world. You can get lost in here and get stuck permanently! That is a risk I am not willing to take!” she said
“I knew you were going to say that so I decided to come up with a back up plan. You wouldn’t send me in there alone. You would link my would to Alex’s body. As long as he stays alive, you can bring me back when you want and I would have no choice than to come back into this world” he said to her
“Can that work?” Alex asked Grace
“Yes, it can but it is still a dangerous gamble. Anything can go wrong! How can you want to risk this? There has to be another way!” Grace said
“I don’t know if there is another way. I don’t know if I have time to find another way but this is the only way I know of and right now, I have to find her before it is too late!” Damian said to her
“Damian…”
“Grace, please! You have to help me. I can’t do this without you” he said to her
“Fine! One condition though” she said
“What is that?” he asked her
“You will come back no matter the results of this! You may not find her. She might be gone for good. I don’t want you holding on to some sort of illusion that she has put in her mind to provide some sort of comfort for you! You would have to choose life again when it comes down to making that decision” she said to him

He nodded at her and she moved the bed with her hand so she could create a space at the center of the living room. She snapped her fingers and a circle appeared in the middle of the room. She lifted Anna with her magic and carefully dropped her in the center of the circle. She walked up to her backpack and grabbed a knife. She walked up to Alex

“Are you sure that you are fine with this?” she asked him
“If there is a chance to bring Anna back, I am taking it so yeah, I am totally fine with it” he said to her

She cut him palm open and told Damian to come to her. She did the same thing to him and she joined their hands together and said a few words. She turned away and Damian looked at his hand. He was completely healed up. He had been bonded with Alex just incase things went south. He want expecting it to go south though. He was just going to get in there and get her out. Grace looked at him and told him to lay beside Anna

“She is dead so you need to understand that different beings from different worlds would be fighting to take control of her body, including the natural forces of life. You have to fight back and find Anna as soon as possible, also don’t get distracted. You came for one thing, one person. Find her and the rest would be history. She would take over her body when you find her and that would grant you a free access back to yours. Are you sure you want to do this?” she asked him
“Yeah I am. Nothing is going to make me change my mind” he said to her

Grace nodded at him and started to chant. He felt a light breeze and he could have sworn that it lifted him from the floor and he could feel himself floating. He decided to open his eyes and he saw that he was back at the central. He was laying on a grass field and he groaned as he got up. Everywhere was so dull in color. Obviously, what was he expecting? It was the mind of a dead person. The first place that came to his mind was her house so he ran there. He got there in less than a minute and he opened the door. There was nobody there, except from someone he knew very well, Carol. She was sitting on the chair they had found her when she was murdered with a hole in her chest.

“This is impossible. You are not really here” he said to her
“What can I say? The mind of a dead hybrid can be a very powerful place. You shouldn’t be here and you know it” she said to him
“What are you?” Damian asked her
“What? How rude of you. I am a projection of her fears but she is a part of you, isn’t she? Well, let’s say I am a projection of your fear too. This should be fun at the end of the day” she said
“I don’t have time for any of this. I need to find her” Damian said as he walked out of the living room and headed up to her room

He opened the door and saw that it was empty, cleared out. She wasn’t here, so where was she? He decided to go to their school. That was where they first met and when he got there, he saw her best friend.

“Let me guess. Another fear?” he asked
“I can see that you are catching up fast. I would t expect anything less from you. You should give up. You would not find her and you know it!” she said to him
“I have heard that before. I don’t see the point of you repeating it in my ears! Just leave me alone so I can find her in peace without losing my mind” Damian said to her
“You don’t get it! You wouldn’t find her! She doesn’t want to be found. If she does, she would be here with you! She felt it immediately you entered this place, after all, it is her mind so why didn’t she come for you?” she said
“I don’t think that is any of your business! I would find her and I will take her home. You don’t have any effect on me!” Damian said as he sped off

He searched the entire school building but didn’t find her. He thought about what her dead beat friend said in the school. She had a point. Why hadn’t she come for him. He decided to go to the club she loved the most and it was empty too. He looked around and saw someone on the bar stool. He groaned, another fear, perhaps. He walked up to him and he recognized him immediately, Caleb

“I have to say, I admire your consistency and persistence but you and I know that she doesn’t want to leave here because this is the only peace that she has and she would rather give up her life with you than to give this up! You have to go back. The longer you stay here, the more permanent the tendency of you getting stuck here is. Why are you so adamant on finding who doesn’t want to be found? Except you also don’t want to leave” Caleb said with a smirk on his face
