CHAPTER NINETEEN
“I am sorry I yelled at you for coming to my rescue”
“And….” She said again
“And what?” he asked, not willing to say another sorry to her
“And …..” she said
“And I’m sorry for trying to kick Sally out of the house. It wasn’t a gentlemanly. I would try to make it all up as soon as I can. Now can you get in the tub and get ready?”
“Yes, I can” she said as she stood up from his bed.
She was about to walk out when he grabbed her by the waist and kissed her. He stopped to look at her. He could tell that she wanted more than that. Was she leading him on so she could stop him later on? He slipped his hands under her dress and touched her bare skin. She let out a little moan and she leaned into him
“Don’t be nasty, princess” he said and he let her go
He turned away and heard her hiss before walking into the bathroom. She laid there for about an hour before coming back out. When she was out, she saw a dress on the bed. He had probably dropped it there and left the room. She touched the dress with her fingers. It was so beautiful. She smiled and decided to get ready. When she was done, she looked into the mirror. She looked so different. The dress was perfect on her and she would have it no other way. She turned to leave when she heard her name. She looked around, there was nobody in the room except her. She thought it was probably her imagination. She got down to the living room and met Damian there. He was with a friend, a female friend.
“Oh, you’re back to your old habits, I see” the girl said. “So, how much did you pay this one?” she asked
“Excuse me?” Anna said
“I told you Odette. I don’t live that lifestyle anymore. This is Anna. She is my mate and my girlfriend and probably my soon to be wife. I didn’t pay her and you should really apologize for that statement!” Damian said firmly
“Yeah right, I’d see you around Damian!” she said as she headed out
“Who was that?” Anna asked him
“She is well, a friend. We’ve been friends since I was little and we grew up together. You look beautiful by the way”
“Thanks. Should I be worried about her? I mean she was rude and she wasn’t willing to apologize”
“There is no reason to be worried and don’t let Odette get to you. She can be like that sometimes especially when she is around new people”
“If you say so” Anna said
“C’mon, we are running late”
He said as he held her hand and led her out. He opened the door to the car for her and she got in. He closed the door after her before speeding to the other side and getting in. He started the car and drove off
*****
He found his way there. The house looked empty from the outside. He took a look in and decided to knock the door. Before he could knock on the door, it opened before him
“Come on in young lad, it is so good to see you once again!” he heard her say
“Elma, I appreciate you making time to see me. Thank you for reaching out to me” he said
“Well, you needed help and I decided to help out. That is the only way we can build the community. What can I help you with?”
“I need you to bring my mother back from the dead. I need you to give her life again. Don’t tell me you can’t do it. I have seen you do it before. I just need you to do it again!” Alex said, impatiently.
“Oh, dear child. Bringing someone back from the dead requires a lot. There are consequences to this ritual and there are prices that would be paid. You can’t bring back the dead without losing something!”
“I don’t care what the price is. Name it and I will pay it in full. Just bring back my mother”
“Are you sure this is what you want?” She asked him again.
“Yes, I am a hundred percent sure”
“Alright. I need you to get the remains of your mother and I will need your blood”
“I know. My mother’s remains are in the back of my car and you can have my blood now”
She old woman nodded. She hoped that he could pay the price. Once she was done, it was irreversible. She looked at him and she could see through him. He was broken and he needed love, care and attention. He wanted a family and she understood but she knew that to give something life, you have to take the life of another. She watched him walk out. He came back in with a coffin. She gave him a bowl and a knife. He cut his palm and drained his blood into it just before he healed up. She looked in it
“ It’s not enough. I need more” she said
He handed her the knife. His eyes glowed and his fangs came out. He bit into his wrist and his blood flowed. The wound started to close up and he groaned. He gave it to her again and she looked at it.
“I guess it’s going to take some time. I need to fill the bowl with blood” she said
He knew what he had to do. He started to drain both wrists at the same time. It took a while but it started to fill up slowly. In an hour time, it was full. He dropped on a chair tired
“You should gather up all your strength before you leave”
“I can’t. I have a long drive back. If I ran here, it would be faster to get back home but I didn’t. I have to get back before someone notices I’m missing”
He said as he stood up and headed for his car
****
They headed back home in the evening. After an amazing dinner, he took her back home. They were still talking as they walked into the house when he noticed that she wasn’t beside him anymore. He looked back and found her in the floor.
“Anna!!” he said as he checked for a pulse. He could barely find any
“Mom! Sally! Somebody help!”
His mom came running down the stairs.
“Why all this noise? What’s wrong?”
“I don’t know. We were just talking and she passed out” he said as he carried her up and took her to his room.
He laid her in the bed and his mother came to check up on her. She looked at him
“What is going on mom?” he asked his mother
“I don’t know. I have never seen anything like this before. It is like her life force is being drained from her, gradually”
“Someone should get me a witch and where the hell is Alex?” Damian screamed
The house was in chaos when he entered. As soon as he entered, he could tell that something wasn’t right. He walked up to his room when he saw a maid walking towards Damian’s room. He decided to check on his sister. He entered the room and saw everybody there
“What’s going on?” He asked
He looked at Damian and saw that he was crying
“Where have you been?” he asked
“I had some things to take care of. Why?”
“She is dying. Three different witches have been here and they keep saying that her life is being taken to give another and there is nothing they can do about it”
“I don’t understand” he said as he walked up to his sister. He touched her hand and her skin was cold
“She is going to die and we don’t know what exactly is doing this! Who exactly is doing this. It is like she is being sacrificed for someone else!” Sally said
That was when it hit him. Elma didn’t ask him for any price. She only asked if he was willing and able to pay the price. She didn’t say what the price was. It occurred to him that his sister was the price. It was a life for a life. He thought there was another way. He didn’t realize that since they were the last two of their mother’s bloodline and he was willing to bring her back with his blood, the second person was going to suffer the consequences of her rebirth. He fell on his knees and watched his sister. He could tell that she was fighting for her life. Tears started to flow freely down his face and he gasped for air. Suddenly, he felt like the walls of the room were starting to collapse around him
.
“You know what this is all about, don’t you?” Damian asked, his eyes, already blood red and his fangs coming out
