Chapter Fifty Nine

“Hey, I didn’t think I was going to get to see you in a long while. Where is Damian? I can’t wait to get back on my feet and help out with Phillip. We are so close to getting him now” she said
“I don’t think you should be worried about getting back in the field right now. Damian and I are trying to handle things and we hope that with time, you would join us but for now, you should really focus on getting better. I don’t think we are in a hurry to see you risk your life again” he said
“There is something you should know though. Phillip, he can’t be stopped, not the natural way. When he took out my baby, he said he didn’t want to have to do it but he needed it for a sacrifice. A sacrifice that needs the life of a stillborn baby? What kind of sacrifice is that?” she asked
“The kind that gives him access to supernatural abilities” Justin said as he came in with Sally
“What kind of supernatural abilities?” Alex asked him
“The kind that would make him unstoppable. For that kind of ritual, he would need two sacrifices. The sacrifice of a wolf and the sacrifice of a vampire” Grace said
“What happens when he gets these two people in one person?” Alex asked
“If you are taking about a hybrid, then that is the perfect sacrifice. He doesn’t have to kill two people, just one person who has both the abilities of a wolf and a vampire” Grace said
“Where is Damian?” Justin asked
“I don’t know. Last time I talked to him, he was insistent on going to meet Phillip with Arielle and I don’t know if he.. oh my goodness” Alex said as he sped off
“What is going on?” Anna asked

Alex sped back into the room and looked at Justin

“Where is Damian?” Annabelle asked
“I can’t find him anywhere and Arielle isn’t in her cell either. Damian is gone. He has gone after Phillip” Alex said
“He is walking into a trap! We have to find him” Justin said
“No! I need you to stay here. You and Sally are the only defenses we have back here. I need you to protect Annabelle at all costs. Beth would be here any moment from now. She is a vampire and she can take care of herself. Tell her that I had to go on an errand and hopefully, I would be back soon but I need the both of you here. Grace and I would go after Damian” Alex said
“That is a stupid idea. Phillip needs a hybrid and you’re willing to hand yourself over to him? Are you insane?” Sally asked
“She has a point, Alex. We are already one hybrid down. The remaining two going to meet Phillip doesn’t make any sense to me. That would leave the compound at it’s weakest. I can’t let that happen!” Justin said
“Damian made you his beta but he made me the commander of his army and we are at war! You all are strong enough to hold the sanity of this place for a little while. Sally you have grown so much that I am proud of the person you are becoming. With Justin and Damian unlinked, Justin doesn’t have to die when Damian does. I hope we don’t lose anybody today but right now, we can’t risk it. I need Annabelle safe. She is the reason we are doing all of this in the first place because we need Damian’s venom!” Alex said
“Hold on for a second. I must have heard wrong. What do you mean by I am no longer linked to Damian?” Justin asked
“He asked me to unlink the both of you and I did. That is the least of things we should be bothered about now. We have to go” Grace said
“No, you don’t. If you go after Phillip, he would kill you and if he doesn’t, he would make you miserable for the rest of your life. Take a good look at me. Phillip did this!” Annabelle said to her brother
“If I don’t go after Damian, he would die. Can you live with that?” Alex said

She sighed as a tear slipped from her eyes. She was going to die anyways. She nodded at Alex and he shook his head in disbelief. He couldn’t believe that she just nodded to that question

“Well, that is literally your problem but I am not letting Phillip ruin our lives anymore. I am not going to let him take from us anymore. I would surround the house with guards incase Phillip uses this opportunity to stage an attack but you all should be safe in here. Grace still has a boundary spell around the house and that should hold for a while” Alex said
“And what are you going to do when you find Damian and Phillip has already killed him?” Annabelle asked her brother
“I guess we would have to find out” Alex said

He looked at Grace and she nodded at him. He lifter her off her feet and sped away with her. He knew that if he stayed there longer, Annabelle was going to talk him out of going after Damian and he could understand why she was trying to talk him out of going after Damian. It was a death sentence. He knew that there was a probability that he wasn’t going to make it back home but he needed to try. He needed to end Phillip once and for all. They got to a dead end but Grace asked him to stop. He did and he dropped her, looking around, seeing nothing but trees

“Why are we stopping?” he asked her
“It is best we take things slowly from here. We don’t want to alert Phillip of our presence. We are close to some very powerful magic. I can feel it in the air and I hope it is Philip so we can end him once and for all before he gets his hands on Damian” she said
“Before he gets to Damian? You sound like you really care about him” Alex said
“Of course I do. I mean, not in that way, obviously but we are friends. You have to look out for your friends besides, Damian is the only way to save Annabelle and he can’t do that if he is dead” she said
“Can’t you get the magic out of her? I mean, you are powerful. I have seen first hand what you can do so why can’t you get the magic out of her?” Alex asked her as he walked
“Because right now, that magic is the only thing keeping her alive. I mean, yes, it is doing it’s own damage but it is keeping her alive but not for long. We have to be fast. Anna is deteriorating faster than anything I have seen. If we don’t get Damian’s venom in her and pray hard that it doesn’t do more damage really fast, she would die” Grace said to him
“How long does she have?” Alex asked
“A couple of weeks if the magic in her system doesn’t start to rapidly kill her. I mean, if it stays at this rate, it would take a couple of weeks for it to finally kill her” she said to him
“A couple of weeks? Then we have more than enough time to find Damian and get this over with. C’mon, we don’t want to be out here too late. I don’t trust this territory!” Alex said to her as they walked on

She nodded at him and followed him. They came to a narrow road leading to an abandoned place. Alex stopped and looked at her

“Are you sure this is the place?” he asked her
“No, I’m not, actually but the pendant is still glowing and it is supposed to track Damian. If we were on the wrong path, it would be dead. It wouldn’t be glowing. So Damian is here or someone who carries the same amount of energy that he carries is here” she said
“I don’t think that is possible. Well, Phillip is going to have magic really soon if we don’t stop him so that has to count for something” Alex said to her
“There is only one way to find out” Grace said to him

She headed down to the house and walked into it like she owned the place. She found out that the place was empty. Alex scoffed and shook his head

“I guess I was right after all” he said

Grace looked down at the pendant and it was glowing brighter than it was in the beginning. She was sure that Damian was here. She decided to canvas every inch of the house by walking round. She knew that anything could be covered with magic and she didn’t want to kiss anything. The only reason why Damian would be here and they couldn’t see him was if he was dead. That would be a disaster. She turned to Alex and handed him the pendant that kept glowing
