Chapter Sixty Four
“Go ahead, try to kill me! You have tried before so try again but remember that the harder you try, the longer you wait and the longer you wait, the longer you get starved of the power that you need. Damian is not on the table but I am! I can give you the power you want. You want an hybrid so feed on me!” Alex said to him
Phillip smiled and looked at him.
“I am listening” he said
“I would give you the power you need. I would make sure that Damian and Anna never come for my body so you have the endless supply of power that you want but I want something in return” Alex said to him
“What do you want?” Phillip said
“I want you to leave Anna, Damian and the whole of Cordina alone and I want you to hand over Arielle to the authorities of Cordina!” Alex said to him
“What do you want with Arielle?” he asked
“She deserves to die for her betrayal. If she can betray me then she can betray you too. Besides, you want an endless supply of power. What do you say?” Alex said to him
“Deal” Phillip said
“I want Arielle first. I don’t trust you” Alex said to him
“Fair enough” Phillip said
He snapped his fingers and Arielle appeared beside him
“What are you doing Phillip?” she asked him
“Giving you away as a sacrifice. What else? He is offering me himself as a source of energy. That is something you can’t do. Don’t look at me like I am betraying you” he said to her
“You are!” she screamed at him
He was about to respond when a dagger ran through his spine and came out of his chest. He screamed in pain and looked back. He didn’t see anybody there. He disappeared with Arielle and Grace appeared behind Alex. He turned to her
“Good job. How long do you think that would keep him down or hold him off?” Alex asked her
“I don’t know. A couple of weeks. His spine is one of the core parts of his body. Without a source of strength, he would heal slowly and that would give us time to get Damian up and find a way to get Anna back on her feet. If we don’t, then we would all die” Grace said to him
“You know you don’t have to do that all the time” he said to her
“Do what?” she asked
“Be a messenger of doom. I mean, it is fine that you want to keep us on our feet and be realistic but don’t scare us to death. We should get back to the house to see how they are holding up” Alex said as he sped off
Grace was going to stop him and apologize for telling him that doom was upon them which it was, anyways but she didn’t understand why he would get mad at her for telling the truth. She lifted from her feet, floating in the air and heading towards the house

“I can see you have not told your friends about our little secret!” Odette said to Beth
“There is no little secret. I did a job just one time for you and your twisted boss and that was because I needed the money, I needed to survive” she said to her
“I don’t think they would care about why you did it. You are on the wrong side of this war and you know this. If you stand with Phillip, he would protect you! He would give you everything that you can possibly want or need. Why are you making me fight you? Why do you want to be my enemy?” Odette asked her
“Phillip paid me for a job and when I said I wanted out, he killed the only family I had left, my brother. You want me to still fight on his side after this? I don’t know what Phillip has fed you with bit they are all lies and the both of us know that you are not in this battle because of Phillip. You are only here to make sure that Annabelle never ends up with Damian because you are so obsessed with him!” Beth said to her
“Why I am here is none of your business! Stay out of my business. I am going to give you one last chance to stand down and let me get Damian. Things do not always have to be this hard! I do t want to fight you! The last time I did that, you lost” Odette said to her
“Well, this is a second chance. I won’t lose this time, trust me!” Beth said back
“I guess you have made up your mind. Phillip was right. Theirs is no talking you out of this!” Odette said
She ran towards Beth and launched at her. Beth caught her midway and threw her to the other side of the room. Her eyes grew blood red and her fangs came out. She was going to rip out her throat with her fangs when someone sped into the room and stood in-between her and Odette. She looked up at the person and saw Alex standing in front of her. His eyes glowed and his fangs were out. She knew what she had to do. She had two options. One was to fight Alex and leave him wondering what was wrong with her but she would get to kill Odette and her secret was going to be safe. The second one was to stand down and risk her secret being told. Her mind screamed at her to fight her way through but she was no match for Alex. She could use his weak spot against him. She knew that he loved her and he would not hurt her but what kind of a person would that make her? Her fangs sank back in and she looked at him through her clear brown eyes. She was going to have to tell him the truth, all of it.
“Stand down. We have killed more than enough for one day!” Alex said to her
“Stay out of this, hybrid. It is none of your business. Let her handle her business” Odette said
“Stand down!” Alex repeated
“You know what you have to do, Beth. You either stand with them or you stand with us as you have once done! We were great together and now you are just going to turn your back on us because of what? You think they would win this battle?” Odette said as she grinned from ear to ear
“Shut the hell up!” Beth yelled at her
“What is she talking about?” Alex asked her
“If you don’t tell him, I will” Odette said to her
“Tell me what?” Alex asked her, his eyes stopped glowing and she could see the hurt in it
“Your little girlfriend here once swore her allegiance to Phillip because she wanted power. She realized that Phillip would never give her power so she came for you instead and figured that if she got into a relationship with you, she would get the power she needed. I can’t believe that you are so stupid that you couldn’t discover any of this on your own. She is not on your side. She has never been on your side. She is with you because of what she can get from you!” Odette said to Alex
“She is lying. I swear she is. You have to believe me!”
“Believe you? You have the scar. The one Phillip gives everyone that swears to be loyal to him and to fight by his side. It is on her arm, close to her elbow. I have the same scar!” Odette said as she pulled up the sleeve of her jacket
Alex walked towards Beth and grabbed her hand. He pulled up the sleeve of her jacket and found the mark there. He sped towards the kitchen and came back and with one quick slice, he cut the mark off her body. She screamed in pain but she was a vampire. She was going to heal fast. She looked at Alex with tears in her eyes and he looked away from her. He turned to Grace
“Lock the both of them up in the dungeon. I would decide on what to do with them later on” he said
“Alex, you have to believe me! I would never betray you like this! I would never do something like this to you!” Beth screamed at him
It was pointless. Odette smiled. She knew that if she couldn’t destroy Damian directly, she could use Beth. All she had to do was make Beth hate Damian and the only way she could do that is if Alex was hurt and if he hurt her which he did. Alex walked out and headed to him room, the room he was supposed to share with Beth. He locked the doors and dropped on his bed to cry. He slept off in the process and when he woke up, he found Grace in his room, standing there, doing nothing but starting at him. It freaked him out to his bones bit he held his cool. He wasn’t going to lose himself, not now. He had one question though. How was she in his room if he locked the doors?
“Good morning” Grace said to him
