12: Unstable Luna.
**Milly pov**
“That fucking bastard!” I screamed at the top of my lungs as I threw the large crystal vase against the wall and watched how it shattered into tiny pieces, my chest heaving with the erratic breaths I took.
Because of him, I was losing my mind. That self-centered, egoistical, absolutely mad fucker really thought he could control me like this? No, there was no way I’d ever drop to my knees in front of a man like he wanted me to.
I had already defied him once and I had no problem doing it again.
My blood was boiling as I started pacing the living room and grabbed another vase, this one meeting the same fate as the previous one, shattering to pieces just as beautifully.
“Milly,” I heard my father’s frustrated voice nearby. Looking over my shoulder, I watched how he entered the living room, clearly frustrated. “What in the name of Goddess is going on here?”
I arched an eyebrow and shrugged, “any room can be a rage room if you give me a minute.”
He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. “Drop the attitude and sit your ass down,” he ordered.
Sometimes, I was so amazed by the audacity of men, my own father included, that I couldn’t figure out where they stored all of it. I wasn’t just some kid he could order around without consequences - I was a Luna, a woman of power and no one in this territory could take it from me.
Slowly, I turned around to face him fully and spat, “no, you sit down. Father or not, you don’t order me around here, I order you.”
“Watch it, I’m still an Alpha,” he growled, taking a step closer.
I refused to back down, so I scoffed and replied in the most bitter manner I could. “Yes, you are. To a dead fucking pack. Now, you’re on my territory, Alpha or not, you hold no power here so sit down and speak your mind calmly before I have you thrown out of here.”
He took another step closer, face red with fury. I watched how he uncrossed his arms and dropped them to his sides, pulling his hands into tight fists. “If you won’t respect me as an Alpha, you have an obligation to respect me as your father. Now, you’re acting like a spoiled brat, damn it!”
“So what?” I retorted. “Since when is it illegal for me to act like a spoiled brat, hmm? Around here, I can be whatever and whoever I want to be. Keep in mind that this is my pack now, my territory and what I say goes. Sit down.” I spat the last words with so much venom, the old fool finally listened.
I honestly would prefer it if he wasn’t here - a moment to myself with some anger and breaking stuff sounded perfect, but as it was in life, I couldn’t always get what I wanted, right?
Finally, he exhaled and slowly approached the couch before he sat down. As soon as he did, he ran a hand through his hair, acting all offended and dramatic like the bitch he was sometimes.
“Milly,” he finally spoke again. “This whole thing,” he gestured at the tiny destruction around me. “Has to stop. You’re a grown woman in a position of power, don’t forget that. The last thing your pack needs is an unstable Luna. The pack has already been on the edge since your husband died, and now, if their Luna loses her mind, the pack could as well leave you. Remember, you are nothing without them. Like it or not, you don’t have any position of authority if there isn’t anyone to lead.”
I gladed at him and started pacing the room again. Deep down, I knew he was right, but I didn’t want to admit it without a fight.
My father didn’t realize just how deep in the shit I had gotten. He had no idea about half the trouble Killian’s Beta was giving me.
Fuck it, nobody around here knew how hard and frustrating it was getting for me to be locked inside here with no real chance to go out and enjoy my life. And I wasn’t talking about the house, but the actual pack territory.
That bastard made it very clear that if I dared to step over the border, he would know and come for me. If that happened, I would be screwed.
The entire pack thought that I was their Alphas mate, which clearly I wasn’t. Years of lies and building of my social standing in those peoples eyes would go down the drain in mere seconds. I wasn’t willing to risk that much.
And on top of all that, there was another, bigger problem. My so-called lovely little sister Aife. That bitch still managed to ruin my life even from afar. I told father it was better to end her while we still had a chance, but the fool didn’t listen and look where it got us.
“Have you spoken to Killian yet?” I snapped, completely ignoring his attempt at lecturing me just a moment ago.
“No,” father grumbled and looked away. “I spoke to that driver boy, Jonathan, but he claims Killian didn’t even mention my request. If anyone, he would know since the pack says those two are very close and spend a lot of time together. I suppose I could ask his Beta too, just in case..”
“NO!” I screamed, startling him enough to jump. “You are not allowed to talk to that bastard Beta. If anything you must stay away from him. I forbid you from talking to him, looking at him, and even standing anywhere near him.”
Father raised his hands and nodded. “Okay, calm down. I’ll just wait for Jonathan to give me updates and I promise to stay out of the Beta’s way.”
I nodded and relaxed a little, but since I could see questions already forming in his mind, I knew I had to get away from him. “I need to go,” I hissed and stormed out of the room before he could stop me.
Fresh air would probably help me calm down, but instead, I rushed to my late husband’s office and locked myself in there. I needed to come up with an idea how to convince Killian to marry me, and fast.
As soon as it would happen, I’d get rid of his Beta for good. But first.. First, I needed to find that little snake Aife and quietly get rid of her before Killian could try to honor the initial agreement and marry her.
