11. Weapons
She stared at the weapon. Her blood ran down the blade and dripped to the ground. She knew what this was. It was a double-bladed sword. She was gipping a central handle. On either side extended a long blade. It was a ferociously lethal weapon and the most beautiful thing she had ever held. Both the blades and the handle together were a little longer than she was tall, however it felt very light in her hand. She was confident that she could wield it easily. The blades where dark grey and the handle that held them together was black.
Levi walked back around to face her. “Damn that is a beast of a weapon.”
Elise didn’t respond. She just kept staring at the double-bladed sword. Her mind was racing with a million thoughts, but one kept repeating at the front of her head. ‘I have a weapon. I have a weapon? I have a weapon!’
“Elise, are you okay?”
Elise still didn’t respond. Levi tried a little louder, still nothing. He decided to cautiously approach her. If that weapon was what he believed it to be he didn’t want to risk making her mad. He slowly and gently touched her shoulder.
“Elise?” He said.
Finally, she looked at him but there was no recognition in her eyes. She lowered her weapon; leveling one of the blades at his face. He backed away raising his hands in surrender. She snapped out of her stupor and saw who he was. Quickly she withdrew her weapon. Then her eyes started to tear up and she dropped the sword to the ground. She covered her face in her hands as she slowly sank into the mud.
Levi watched as she pulled her knees into her chest and sat there and cried. He felt sorry for the angel. He squatted down and put his hand on her shoulder. He had never comforted anyone before, but for some unknown reason he now felt the need to. Compassion was something foreign to him.
He rubbed her shoulder and said, “Elise it will be okay.” Elise cried a bit more as Levi tried to comfort her. Her cries soon turned to sniffles and she began to regain her composure. Once she was fully in control of her emotions again, she picked up the weapon, and looked at it again.
She could make out some markings on the blades and the handle as well. However, the blood was making it hard to see exactly what they were. “How do I put this back?” she asked.
“Thats the easy part. You just place it back. When you need it, you just grab it.”
“Does it go back under my skin?”
“No, it just kind of turns two dimensional and lays against your skin.” She stared at him with confusion.
“Okay look I'll show you my hellish weapon. It's really quite similar.”
Like Archangels, Princes of Hell had weapons. Though they were not divine they were hellish. While hellish weapons are not powerful enough to kill any angel outright; they could inflict horrible mutilations to lower angles. The princes of hell enjoyed using them to torture captive angels to the point that the most noble thing that could be done for them afterword would be to put them out of their misery.
Levi took off his shirt and turned around. His chest was perfect as a Greek statue. His abbs where firm and she could see a v shape cutting down past his belt line. He had a big tattoo that seemed to wrap around his body. As he turned her eyes followed the tattoo. Though the tattoo continued to wrap around him there was a large space at the center of his back with a huge tattoo of an upside-down trident.
Levi reached his arm back over his head to the nape of his neck where the handle of the trident tattoo laid against his skin. He wrapped his hand around the tattooed handle and lifted it away from his skin. As the weapon came away from his skin it became three dimensional and enlarged. He turned back to face her and rested the trident at his side. It was almost as tall as he was. The prongs ended in jagged points just above his eyes.
“When you put yours away it will not be visible since you’re an angel. But it works more or less the same.” Then to demonstrate he picked up his trident and pushed it back into his skin. “See it is no big deal.” Elise watched him with fascination. She had never seen anyone, not even Michael, pull out a weapon. She knew they existed for both Archangels and Princes of Hell, but she had never actually seen one.
Now she had one of her own. She lifted it over her head and did as Levi had done and to her surprise it just went in no pain. Her back had healed by this point, but she was still covered in blood. She retracted her wings and put on her pink scrubs top.
“It is getting late, and the sun is almost completely gone. We should be going.” Elise said.
“Do you want to grab a bite to eat or something. I know a place not too far from here that serves amazing gumbo.” Levi to his surprise did not want her to go just yet.
“No but thank you. I would rather that you to take me home, please.”
“Alright.”
“My address is....”
But before she could finish Levi said. “I know where you live.”
Normally this would make Elise cautious but today after finding out that things had been kept from her, she was emotionally drained and didn’t want to play detective. Levi just nodded and they made their way back to his bike.
There ride back was devoid of questionable feelings. It was dark when they pulled up in front of Elises house and she got off the bike. She looked at Levi.
“Thank you for showing me the truth today. I appreciate it.”
“My pleasure. I will visit you in a few days and we can talk about what other secrets you family may be keeping from you.”
Elise nodded and went up to her house. She unlocked the door and went inside. Once Levi knew she was inside he headed back to his place in the quarter he had some planning to do. He was going to use this newfound trust to his advantage.
