14. Jealous
Over the next few days Elise saw Levi a lot. He had come to have lunch with her a few times at work. One day he finally asked, “So you must tell me. How did you meet Margret?”
“Oh well, I met her when she was just a child. Her parents had both died and she was orphaned. The Ursaline convent took her in. I was working as a nurse there at that time and that’s when I met her. The rest is history.”
Levi smiled. He loved that she was so matter of fact but in a soft-spoken kind of way.
“Hey, I am not sure if this would interest you, but I am having another party this weekend. It is going to be an all day and into the night type thing. It’s out on my yacht. You could invite your cousin and her friends if you want.”
Elise thought about it. Normally she didn’t like to go out, but she had become quite fond of The Hellish Prince. “Yeah, I can ask them, and I will go.”
Levi smirked. He had been making plans as to how he could use Elise, but they had fallen on the back burner. The more time they spent together the more he found that he genuinely liked her. He loved being around her. Her smell was intoxicating to him, and the way she swayed with grace.
Elise pulled out her phone and called Amanda up. Two rings went by and on the third ring Amanda picked up. “Hey cousin I was just about to call you. Georgia scored an invite to a yacht party happening Saturday and I was wondering if you wanted to come?”
Elise laughed at the coincidence. “Sure, Amanda I will come.”
She didn’t feel the need to tell her cousin she had called to ask her the same question.
“So, what did you call me about?”
“Oh, I was just going to ask if you were busy and see if you wanted to go do something fun?”
“See great minds think alike. We will pick you up Saturday at 11 and then head over to the marina. Make sure you wear a swimsuit. “
“Alright see you then.”
“Love you.”
“Love you too.”
Elise looked at Levi. “I guess we will be going to your yacht party.”
“Good.”
They spent the rest of her break making idle chat, mostly about things they missed from the past.”
She got up to throw away her trash and Sean approached her. “So, you do like men.” Elise ignored him. He grabbed her arm. Just as she was about to pull away Levi came up.
“I would suggest you let her go.”
“Do you think you can make me?” Sean was not happy seeing Elise with another guy. He had been working to get with her for months. He wasn’t going to let some jerk with a punk haircut swoop in and steal her.
“No, Elise can handle herself. I am merely suggesting that you do not push your luck. You would not want to make her have to hurt you.” Levi turned to leave.
Sean chuckled. ‘As if she could’ he thought to himself. Elise Jerked her arm out of his grasp. She moved to walk Levi out. Before she took more than one step though, Sean grabbed her again and whispered in her ear. “I'm going to get you bitch. One of these days I will.” then he let her go. She walked away calmly to catch up to Levi.
She thought to herself. ‘Whatever, he can think what he likes I know the truth.” She caught up to Levi quickly. He had waited for her just outside the room so that they could walk through the home together.
As they walked out the front door of Magnolia House, another pair of jealous eyes watched them. It was Christina. Neither Elise nor Levi really cared though. They said goodbye to each other, and Elise went back to work.
The rest of the week flew by fairly uneventfully. Sean seemed to go out of his way to find her and call her bad names, but nothing worse. Soon it was Saturday and instead of getting ready to do her usual good works she was getting dressed for a party.
She felt a bit weird skipping out on helping others. She was feeling a little ambivalent at the whole thing though. She was instructed by Michael that she had to do good works.
But after finding out how he had been treating her and her father, she had no desire to do anything Michael told her to do anymore.
