63. Meeting Old Friends
“Elise”
She was shocked to see her cousin Amanda. She didn’t know how to react, she just sat there looking at her.
“Where have you been? You do know Levi has been looking for you?”
“It is nice to see you Amanda really.”
“Nice to see me that is all you have to say. What about you missing me. What about an explanation why you just disappeared for years on end.”
“I don’t know what to tell you.”
Just then a man came up behind her and stood next to her. He looked familiar but Elise could not quite place him.
“Elise, you remember Sam.”
She had a faint memory of Leviathan introducing Sam to Amanda.
“Sam.”
“We are married now and have two twin boys at home. You really should not have disappeared we would like them to meet their cousin you know.”
Elise didn’t say anything. Amandas eyes travelled over Elise’s body.
“Are you okay. I mean where did these scars come from is that why you are not with Levi. Did he do this?”
“He did nothing. Just leave it alone. Look, it was nice seeing you, but I have to go. Don’t tell anyone I was here.”
Elise reached into her purse and flung her money down on the table. She pushed past Amanda and Sam and quickly made her exit. Her mind was rushing. Was Amanda going to tell Leviathan where she was. No, she had told her not to.
She knew her cousin would never betray her. Even if years had gone by without them speaking. Amanda would never go against her wishes. Of that, she was sure. As she got back to her small apartment she had stilled.
It was strange seeing Amanda. She looked the same. But yet she had moved on. She was married and had gone on to have a family of her own. It was something she envied. Elise wished she could move on. But she knew that was impossible.
She lay down on her small full bed. She had not taken the time to decorate the place. It had plain white walls. She had the most basic of furnishings. Nothing luxurious about where she lived. It was just the basics.
She looked up at the ceiling. Her mind would not quiet. Her thoughts were racing. It was part of insanity. She did things to the best of her ability, but her thoughts would get often jumbled and she would lash out. She would sometimes think that some people were demons when they were not.
Her view of everyone had changed. She always thought the worst of people. Some things she could differentiate from the truth but not always. When faced with Amanda she had felt somewhat of a relief to see her doing so well.
Although her cousin had been mad, she looked happy. Knowing that at least gave her some comfort. Elise then began to think about what she heard. Amanda had said that Leviathan was looking for her. She doubted that he still was.
Elise thought ‘He had probably moved on. He no doubt is has been fucking women left and right. I mean why would he want me after all. I was weak. I was captured and used like a plaything by his siblings. Fuck why am I even upset. He deserves happiness.’
It was hopeless. Even though she knew she should wish him to move on, she wanted him herself. The idea of him touching another made her blood boil. Her breath hitched and her body tensed up. Her thoughts continued to race,
‘I mean what would I even do if he wanted me still. Would I let him have me. I mean would those feelings even be there anymore. Even if I want to be touched, I doubt he would want to be intimate with me. I am just something ruined thing. If he did want me to be with him in any compacity, it would be out of obligation.’
The morning came quickly, and she got up and fixed herself in order to go to work. She stopped by to get her coffee at the local Starbucks. Then she headed to work. She got there just in time. This morning she was working with a new client.
She walked into the private training room. The women were tall and beautiful.
“So I hear you want to learn to fight.”
“I don’t want to learn I already know how to fight.”
“What do you want then.”
“I want to kill you.”
Elise burst out laughing. She knew she couldn’t die she was immortal.
“I would like to see you try.”
The women lunged at Elise. But Elise dodged it. The women went in again but again Elise out maneuvered the woman.
“Fight me you coward.”
Elise came in close, and roundhouse kicked her in the face drawing blood. The woman fumbled back. Elise went at her again hitting her in the stomach. She fell backwards. Elise stood over her and put her foot on her neck.
“Now who are you and why do you want me dead?”
“You stole him from me.”
“What are you talking about.”
“I loved Levi. And you came in and he cast me aside for you. When he returned home without you, I thought I could get him back, but I was nothing to him. All he wants is you and I don’t see why. You are littered with scars, and you abandoned him. I stayed and waited for him.”
“How did you find me?”
She didn’t respond. She put pressure on the women's neck.
“It was by chance. I overheard your conversation last night at the restraunt. When I saw that it was actually you. I followed you from there.”
“So, you stalked me?”
“Get off of me.”
Elise wanted to kill her. But she couldn’t let the angels know where she was and if she killed this women, they may become suspicious.
“Get out of here.”
The women scrambled to get up and ran out of the room. Elise followed and went to the front desk. A woman came rushing in the door.
“I am so sorry I am late. I was supposed to start with a new trainer this morning is she still available.”
Elise realized this was the women she was supposed to train with that morning. She went through the day going about her duties. When she finished the day, she returned to her small apartment. After dinner she heard a knock on the door.
She went, not even thinking about who it was. When she opened it, she found her own eyes staring back at her. It was her father, Azrael.
