64. Killing Death

“Father Sam is on the phone.”

“Tell him I am busy.”

“Father you will want to talk with him. It is about Elise. “

Leviathan ran to the phone and grabbed it from Baylor's hand.

“Sam what is the news?”

“I saw her. I was out with Amanda and there she was sitting in the restaurant.”

“What else.”

“Well, she asked Amanda not to tell anyone she had seen her. I know Amanda wouldn’t call you as she never would go against her cousins wishes so I called.”

“Thank you for remaining loyal.”

When Leviathan first got back to New Orleans, he contacted Amanda, but she had not seen Elise. He thought that maybe she went and reached out, but she had not. He even went to see Margret but when he arrived, he found out that she had passed.

“What city are you in when you saw her?”

“Covington.”

He thought. ‘She has been hiding in plain sight. Right under our noses in a suburbia. I am going to get her and bring her home.’

“Thank you for telling me. “

“Anything you need.”

The call ended. Leviathan rushed out to the car. He planned on heading to Covington at once. He planned on finding her. Leviathan sped through the night. He arrived in Covington. He didn’t know where to start so he just began to drive around aimlessly.

Meanwhile Elise was facing her own challenge.

“Father.”

“I have been looking for you dear daughter.”

“Oh, really and why is that? Are you going to kill me like you killed my mother.”

“How do you know about that?”

“Your king told me.”

“King what king you know I have no king.”

“Really so you don’t follow Michael blindly?”

“The council decided not just Michael.”

“Whatever.”

“Did you open the hell gate.”

“So, what if I did.”

“You need to close it. We have been fighting those dam demons back but every time we send some to hell they come back, and we are outnumbered, and thousands of us are being tortured every day.”

“Good.”

“Please close it.”

Elise began to laugh. Her madness was starting to become apparent to Azrael.

“I can’t close it.”

“Yes, you can you have the keys.”

“Oh, but I don’t.”

“What well where are they.”

In a dark voice she said.

“I destroyed them.”

“You what?”

“Did I stutter?”

“Why would you? How could you?”

“Oh, it was easy. I just stepped through the gate drew out my weapon and smashed them to hell.”

“Weapon.”

“Yes, it is just like yours. But you know that already. In fact, I am sure Michael has asked you to kill me.”

Azrael didn’t say anything.

“So, it is true.”

Elise drew out her weapon.

“Enough chit chat father.”

“Elise I am not going to fight you.”

Elise lunged at him and moved just in time to dodge her. She went in again and again, but he moved every time. In a deranged voice she yelled.

“Fight me you coward.”

“I won’t.”

Azrael just could not do it. He already felt damaged for killing Elise’s mother. He couldn’t do what he did to her to his own daughter. Elise finally connected with Azrael’s leg. Slicing into his pale flesh. He moved in time for him to connect with his chest.

She continued to circle him. She stabbed his foot, pinning him to the floor. She then came in close and kicked him in the stomach. She pulled her double headed sword out of his foot and cut through his thigh.

He lost his balance and fell on the hard wood floor.

“Elise please.”

“Is that what my mother said before you killed her?”

“Elise.”

She then brought the sword down and stabbed him in the heart. He slowly turned to dust. She felt remorse and relief at the same time. She couldn’t make heads or tails of her feelings. She wondered if she had done the right thing.

She began to think. ‘Revenge at last. I wonder what Michael is going to do now. I mean his weapon is gone. He can't kill anyone without Azrael. I mean sure lower demons he can but no one else. What is he going to do about the demons torturing his precious angels. Because I am not going to lift a finger to help them.’

She got a broom out and began to sweep up her father. She wondered as she dumped him in the trash. If Michael would come, looking for him. The only way she figured that would happen was if Michael already knew where she was and had sent Azrael.

She didn’t know if she was strong enough to face him. She was motivated enough but she wanted to save him for the rest. She wanted to flay the princes of Hell living before she killed them. She wanted them all to suffer.

Michael however she just wanted to kill him. She would also need to figure out what to do about the other archangels. Elise didn’t know if she should kill them or just imprison them in hell. They had agreed to kill her mother, so they were guilty of that crime.

She thought all through the night. After a long deliberation with herself she decided it was best to not risk staying in Covington. That it was time to move on from America. She could watch the world fall away into chaos from Europe. Maybe France she thought.

She decided that tomorrow would be her last day of work. Then she would start to get her affairs in order to leave the country. She liked that plan. But she felt a loss knowing she would no longer be with thirty minutes of Leviathan.

She wondered if he was even in the state. The woman from the morning had said that he was searching for her. To her it made sense that he would not have even been in New Orleans. But her heart told her that he was close. She didn’t like the idea of being far from him. Every day she wished that he would accidentally find her.

Although she did not know if she would run from him or to him. She missed him dearly. But her felling's on the matter were all jumbled, she didn’t know what she would do. She craved him but at the same time she felt ashamed.
