67. Returning to their Home
Elise looked deep into Leviathan eyes. She felt close to him. It was the first time she had felt close to anyone in a long time. She turned away from him as she was still embarrassed. Leviathan began to stroke her back.
“Elise.”
She didn’t say anything.
“Elise.”
He said in a soft voice. When Elise did not respond he gently turned her, so she was looking at him. She was silently crying. He brushed his fingers across her face wiping away the tears.
“What's wrong love? Why are you crying.”
“I just don’t think you should be with me. I mean I am so broken. I am not like I used to be. I don’t deserve you.”
“Hey, don’t talk like that. You are all I want.”
He moved his large hands over to where he had bitten into her neck. He traced over the scar.
“We are bound for all of time and eternity, and I don’t think of you as broken not at all.”
“How can you think I am not? I mean after all that happened to me. I just well look at me. And it not only is that. I mean your brothers they.”
She couldn’t even finish the words. They were painful and she could not bring herself to admit what had happened out loud. She even turned away from him feeling ashamed.
“Look at me.”
She didn’t look up. He grabbed her chin and pulled her face to his.
“You are perfect. What they did was horrible, and they will pay for what they have done. Nothing they did changes any of my feelings toward you though. I still love you. I still think you are beautiful, and I believe you are a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for.”
She gave a weak smile. She still felt insecure about what had happened to her, but she was glad he had said the stuff he had said. It gave her some sense of tranquility in her wild mind. He looked deep into his eyes.
“So what now.”
“You come home.”
“I have plans you know.”
“What kind of plans.”
“Revenge.”
“How can I help.”
He asked eagerly. She gave a wicked smile she had a strategy already in place. She was just waiting for everything to fall into place.
“I am just waiting for the pieces to come together. But when it does, I plan on seeing it all burn.”
She said, showing a bit of her insanity through her eyes. Leviathan caught a glimpse of the madness in her.
“So shall we go home.”
Elise thought for a moment. She considered running but what was the point she thought. She had missed Leviathan and she craved him. She wanted him at her side always. Although things would always be a bit different from this point forward at least she would have comfort being with Leviathan. She nodded at him.
The two of them got dressed. Then he looked around the tiny apartment. He had not noticed how the place had no furniture in it. Then Leviathan saw her bags.
“Were you leaving.”
Elise just nodded.
“Well, I am glad I found you before you did. I mean it did take me years to find you and you were only half an hour away. Where were you planning to go?”
“France.”
Leviathan grabbed her bags and then the two of them left the apartment and headed downstairs.
“I need to drop the keys off at the office.”
“Okay we can stop there first. So why France?”
“I don’t know I just felt like it.”
It did not take long for them to be on the road. As they drove. Leviathan reached his arm out and put his hand on her thigh. He just wanted to be close to her. It had been to long for him and any contact with her seemed to sooth him.
Both Leviathan and Elise had been through so much. He was still easily angered by small things. Though their time apart he had gotten a bit better. She on the other hand was still a bit feral and unhinged. But she too had gotten better with time.
“So do you want to tell me what you have been doing these past years?”
“Waiting?”
“Waiting?”
“Yes. I am waiting till all of hell is unleashed on earth.”
“I have been curious as to why you left the gate open?”
“Simple, I want chaos.”
“I figured that but any specific reason?”
“Revenge.”
“So you have said. It is all part of your plan I take it.”
“Yes.”
“After are you going to close the gate?”
“I can’t.”
“What do you mean?”
“I destroyed the keys.”
“You what?”
“I destroyed the keys the gate will remain open.”
She said with a smirk. She had loved the idea of everyone being on the same playing field. It had become a game to her. Leviathan was silent. He did not understand why she did that. But it did not bother him. Demons were beneath him and Archangels sending back to hell was of little consequences since he now could get out if he wanted to.
With Leviathan remaining silent she asked.
“You don’t approve.”
“There is nothing to disapprove of. Keeping the gate open does not affect me and I am sure you had a reason you broke the keys and wanted to keep the gate open.”
She was happy that he did not disapprove. Although if he had it would not have change anything. She had reasons for leaving the gate open, it was part of her plan to let chaos flow through the world. She needed to wait until the right moment to seek her revenge and she had a lot of people that she needed to kill.
As they reached their house, she took it in. It had been the house they had picked together so long ago. The had renovated the whole thing to be exactly what they had wanted. Elise slowly got out of the car. Leviathan figured he would have one of the several demons serving him to get Elise things.
He went around the car and grabbed her hand.
“Are you ready love.”
After a moment of silence, she said
“Yes.”
And the two walked into the house together.
