62. The Years Apart

A few years had passed, and Elise was fully restored, her sanity was still in question. In truth her mind would never completely heal. She had found a small apartment in Covington and found a job at the local gym as a trainer.

She would watch TV every night seeing the chaos of what she had unleashed with the Hell gate. She would read the news about the typhoons swallowing cities and she knew that some of the princes had also ventured out into the world.

She smiled at the thought of her revenge, the next step was to track them and wait for the war to start. She would bide her time till everything was set and then she would kill them all. She would destroy them and anyone that stood in her way.

She was in the gym training when a man came up to her.

“Elise right.”

“Yes, what can I help you with?”

“I was wondering if you want to go out sometime.”

“No.”

“Are you sure we can go anywhere you like.”

“No, I don’t want to so leave me alone.”

She often got asked out on dates and just like every time she turned him down. The idea of being taken out on dates was comical to her. No, her mind was on one thing and one thing alone revenge. Not to mention she was already in love with someone.

Leviathan entered her mind every day. Every day she missed him. She missed looking in his eyes. She missed feeling his big hands caressing her body. She had not kissed him for centuries and she wondered what it would be like to kiss him again.

But in her mind, she had been spoiled for him. That she was not good enough anymore for him. She hated the idea of being loved. She felt like she did not deserve it after all that had happened. And even though she wanted revenge she blamed herself most.

“No reason to be a bitch.”

She grabbed the man and punched him in the face breaking his nose. She often lost her temper and lashed out. She had been arrested numerous times but had used her divinity to get out of the tricky situations.

“Don’t call me or any other women a bitch ever again.”

She walked away from the bleeding man. Her boss saw what happened.

“Elise did you attack that man.”

She grabbed hold of his arm and stared into his eyes.

“You will let this slide and ban him from the gym.”

Then she released him. He blinked a bit and then went on his way. She had to do this so often it had become second nature to her. Using her divinity to influence people was like an everyday occurrence. She just couldn’t go back to being the sweet and demur person she had been years ago. She put no value on human life anymore. After work she decided to go out for dinner. She wanted a change and figured she could read the news on her phone.

Leviathan had gone back to his old ways. Though he never kept the company of women. They would flock to him, but he didn’t care. He wouldn’t even look at them. The quarter had become even more depraved in the last few years as demons had flooded the quarter.

When he heard of the typhoon swallowing a town in the pacific, he knew it had to be Astaroth. He wanted the confusion of that would follow a freak accident. He wondered if this was what Elise wanted. She had gone crazy and maybe she wanted the rest of the world to follow her into her madness.

He had sent many scouts out to look for her, but they never did find her. He often wonders if she was held up in some hole in the desert. I mean where could she have gone, he thought. His temper was never settled. Leviathan was always on edge.

Even though he was constantly surrounded by others he felt alone. His rage festered. He used his demonic voices more often. Over the past few years on earth, he had grown crueller than he had always been. His sons wondered if he was ever going to find Elise.

“Father, we believe Nybys is in the South America.”

“Why do you think that.”

“Well, the whole of Brazil is in tears as their president committed suicide.”

“Sounds like something Nybys would be responsible for.”

“Do you want us to send people to find out.”

“Yes, that seems right.”

He waited for a second and then he spoke again.

“Do you think she is waiting for all of them to be on earth. “

“Could be or maybe she is just insane.”

“Do not speak of her like that.”

“I meant no disrespect father.”

“Get out of my sight before I really lose my temper.”

Saxon quickly exited the room. Leviathan wanted her back. He had hoped that she was healing. If not with him then hopefully being alone would help her heal. He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. He did this often. Whenever he wanted to see her, he would close his eyes and picture her as his only comfort.

Elise entered the nice restaurant. She had her long black hair up. Her mark was on full display for all to see. Despite being covered in white scars there was no denying she was still stunning. Her glow had come back, and her appearance drew in others.

She was seated right away.

“What can I get you to drink?”

“Wine red I don’t care which type pick one yourself, but I want the whole bottle.”

She said not even looking at the waiter. She continued to look over the menu. When he came back with the wine, she looked at him.

“I will have the steak. “

He nodded. The waiter went back to place the order and complained about how demanding and rude she was. He hoped she would at least tip well. I mean she had to have money if she was eating here, he thought.

It didn’t take long, and the food was brought out. She began to eat as she read about the world news, it was all she did these days. But as she at she heard a voice she had not heard in a very long time.

“Elise?”

She looked up from her phone and was now staring at Amanda.
