43. Punishment
Once they were both satisfied and had composed themselves, Leviathan spoke.
“That daughter of mine is in huge trouble. I don’t like that she lied. What else did she do?”
“Well, she took me out to a place in the city where we could get some cloths.”
“She took you into the city?”
“Yeah.”
“I don’t understand. If you both went into the city, how did you end up alone outside the gate?”
“She um left me.”
“She what?! That is, it. Where is that little brat?”
Leviathan face was red with anger. He stormed out of the room to go find Deliah. Elise had nothing else to do so she went after him. He didn’t have to look hard. He found her sitting in her courters sipping wine. He marched over and grabbed her by the arm. Deliah cringed.
Elise stood in the doorway watching the scene unfold.
“Why did you take her into the city?”
“I figured she would need something to where to the party tonight as well as some stuff to wear while she is here. Stuff that is actually hers.”
“And you thought it would be a good idea to just abandon her there and let her find her own way back. What if she had not come back what was your plan then.” Leviathan shook her.
“I don’t know.”
“Why did you lie to the guards about knowing who she is?”
“I don’t know. I don’t know.”
“Yes, you do! Now tell me the truth, or I will make your punishment worse.”
“Ok, fine. I don’t think it’s right that she is with you. I mean she is an angel.”
“So, what does that matter.”
“She isn't supposed to be here. Hell, she isn't supposed to even exist. There are no female angels.”
“Well, she is one. So get used to it.”
“What are you going to do?”
Deliah was terrified she knew her father had a temper. Her punishment would be sever and she knew it. However, she was still determined to get rid of Elise in one way or another.
“300 lashes.”
“You can't be serious?”
It was more than she had ever received. Although she was an immortal in hell, and it would not kill her, it would be painful.
“Maybe next time you will think about your actions more seriously. Be ready in the courtyard in an hour. I will be there to dish out your punishment myself.”
Deliah pouted as she thought about what was about to happen.
Leviathan left the room grabbing Elise hand and leading her back to his living quarters. Once there he sat down on the bed. Elise climbed up into his lap wrapping her legs around him.
“This is just not a great day.” Leviathan sighed.
“I feel you.”
“First my brothers, and now this to deal with.”
“What happened with your brothers?”
“They won’t be opening the gate. Apparently, they want to meet you.”
“So, you told them about me then.”
“I didn’t have to. You killed a bunch of Mara’s demons, before I came and took you away.”
“Right, so what does this mean?”
“It means we are going to have to go to their stupid parties and let them prod and pry until they give in and open the portal.”
“Oh.”
“I am sorry. I really am.”
“Why are you sorry? You can't help it.”
Leviathan fell silent for a moment before he spoke again. “Now unfortunately we need to get ready for this party.”
“Asmodeus, right?”
“Yes, and so you know this won’t be like the parties I throw on earth.”
“So, Deliah was right that we would be going.”
“Thats right.”
Elise rolled onto the bed as Leviathan got up and walked into to the large closet.
“Looks like even though Deliah gave you trouble she still had those clothes delivered for you.”
“That is something. Hey question.”
“Yeah.”
“You said to that demon that you would hang him. Is that like a hanging from a noose.”
“Yeah, that’s right. Seeing as no one down here can really stay dead well other than the ones you kill with your weapon. They just die again and again. So, he will be hung dying for three days and then wake up to do it all over again for three years.”
Elise face went pale. She held her neck. She was beginning to understand why this place had driven lower angles to insanity. She remembered what Michael had told her about how Azrael had to put some angels out of their misery once they were released from Hell.
Leviathan saw the look of worry on her face.
“Nothing like that will happen to you. You are mine. They wouldn’t dare.”
Elise did trust him. Even so she resolved too always be vigilant. She had not forgotten where she was after all. Deliah had already tried to get rid of her. Elise figured Deliah just wanted her to suffer seeing as she knew that nothing could actually kill her.
“Now I think you should get ready. I will be back after I punish my daughter.”
“Didn’t you say and hour.”
“I did but I am ready now.”
Leviathan left the room Leaving Elise alone. She heard his voice booming down the hall.
“Deliah now.”
The whole room shook. She had never heard him this loud before. It was deafening. She laid back on the bed. This place was dangerous she thought. It didn’t take long to hear Deliah's screams. It was nothing new since she had been there, she could always hear screaming in the background.
That was one thing about hell there was no silent place. She decided it was time to get cleaned up, yet again she was covered in blood from fighting. Not to mention she had a wound that was still slowly leaking her blood.
She got out of the bed and left the room to go find the place where she had bathed the night before. It didn’t take her to long to find. The tub was already filled with warm water. She wondered if it had been filled recently or if they just filled it up every day since the water was always hot here. It didn’t matter anyway, and she stripped down and got in. She closed her eyes and tilted her head back. She just wanted to relax.
Leviathan came back up to the bedroom, but Elise wasn’t there. He went in search of her and found her asleep in the tub. He smiled at the scene before him. He gently nudged her, and she began to stir. She slowly opened her eyes and saw him. Her lips curved into a smile.
“Come on love.”
She got out and wrapped up. The two of the made their way back to the room and began to get ready for the party.
“Leviathan, Deliah said I had to wear makeup is that true.”
“Yes and no. Almost every upper-class woman does but I don’t think you need it. Your skin is perfect.”
“So that is a no.”
“Yeah, if you don’t want to wear it don’t.”
Elise smiled she hated the idea of putting that stuff all over her face. They continued to dress and get ready. Leviathan looked at her. Her legs where on full display in her dress. She had a long slit on either side up past her hips. Her breasts were spilling out of the top and her black hair cascaded over her shoulders.
“We better go before I devour you whole.”
Elise blushed at the compliment. She felt the same way about him and his appearance. They left the room and headed out to the courtyard. There waiting for them were chairs set into platforms that had to be carried by four brawny men each.
“You can’t be serious?”
“I am. This is how we travel down here.”
“You didn’t use one of these when you got me after I fought off the demons.”
“True but I was in a rush.”
“What about today.”
“Yeah, that should not have happened.”
Elise was silent. She felt weird about being carried around hell. It was a matter of class though. After a long moment she reluctantly went to one of the chairs. She sat down and Leviathan joined her sitting in the chair next to her. Many of his children filtered out of the castle and also took seats. The men lifted everyone in Leviathans entourage and left the courtyard.
