Chapter 251
Julian
I found her.
And she was closer than I expected. Not close close but not as far away as I would have taken her. It was all pretty easy after I had seen Cassie helping people after the explosion, I just tracked their car through the traffic cams until I saw it pull up to-
The panther lands.
Ian had fucking hidden my family with the panthers. People who I had seen since they had left and who hadn’t said a word.
I would be having a word though. Several of them and none of them good, especially with the young woman Yanna.
The same woman who was bundling my sons, in their little school uniforms out of her car and into a house I was guessing was hers.
I watched for a second before stepping out of the car and slamming the door. She froze with her back to me, her shoulders hunched.
“Yanna.” I called.
“Go inside boys.” She tried to usher them inside but Noah had already heard my voice. He turned a few seconds before Niall and his young face lit up.
“Daddy.” Ignoring Yanna completely he launched himself in my direction. His brother was close on his heels. I caught them easily and swung them up into the air.
The small giggles filled my ears, the sounds I had missed so much with them gone. Sounds that I’d never thought I would hear again.
“Daddy, daddy what are you doing here?” Niall caught my face between his small hands and turned my head towards him. “Does mummy know you are here?”
“No it’s a surprise but I wanted to see you both first.”
“Well that’s one thing to call it.” Yanna muttered under her breath.
Ignoring her I turned my attention back to my boys. They had grown so much and looked so different but not in a bad way.
They seemed happy.
“Mummy said-“ Niall began to say and Noah elbowed him roughly in the ribs. “Doesn’t matter.” He added quickly.
“We have our wolves.” Noah puffed out his chest with pride and I couldn’t help but smile.
“I know.”
He shook his head. “No you don’t. We have had lessons. We can almost control it now. Ian and Yanna said we did such a good job that we were allowed on a run.”
My eyebrows shot up and I risked a glance at the curly haired woman. She looked away, stuffing something in her pocket quickly but not before I saw the mobile phone in her hand.
Clearly she was warning Cassie.
Maybe trying to give her a head start in giving me the slip again. I glanced down at the boys. Cassie wasn’t going anywhere without them. She wouldn’t abandon them. No , if Yanna had warned her I was here then Cassie would come and face me herself.
She was brave like that.
“That’s awesome.” I murmured. Although it wasn’t awesome at all. I lifted my eyes to Yanna and my lips thinned.
“Boys, why don’t you go inside and get a snack. I think your daddy wants to talk to me alone.” She said in an overly bright sing song voice that was the total opposite to the cold look she was giving me.
I expected some kind of arguement from them but they just wiggled down and ran off. Yelling their goodbyes over their shoulders as they disappeared.
For a heartbeat I watched them and then I turned to Yanna.
“What are you doing here your highness?” She asked coolly. Like she already didn’t know.
“Where is my wife Yanna? Where is Cassie?” I answered her question with one of my own. “Where is Ian?”
“Ian is at the hospital.” She said flatly
For a second my stomach lurched and then I realised the truth she had said Ian was. Not they were.
“Is he ok?”
Her eyes flashed. “Do you care?”
I didn’t even bother to answer that. “So that means my wife is at work.” I mulled over my words quietly. How many places could a doctor work in a town as small as this?
Not many.
“I didn’t say that.”
I motioned to her open front door. “You don’t have to, I know my wife. She would have picked them up from school because she’s a hands on mum and if she couldn’t then Ian would. If you have them , that means they are both busy.” I stroked my hand over my chin thoughtfully. “How many doctors surgeries are there in town?”
Yanna didn’t say a word.
Sighing I shook my head. “I’ll find her with or without your help Yanna, it just might go better for relations between our two species if you at least help me a little.”
“There’s one. But I don’t think she’s there, because-“
I glanced down at the phone sticking out of her pocket and let out a mirthless laugh. “Because you tried to call and she didn’t pick up? What were you going to do?” I asked. “Warn her that I was here.”
A glimmer of anger filled her warm brown eyes. “I wouldn’t need to.” She gave a small shrug. “All I needed to do was keep the line open and she would hear your voice and know.”
Laughing I stared at her with no found respect. Yanna was sneaky and I respected that. “You might even give Ian a run for his money, you know.” The laughter died as quickly as it had started. “I respect you and your loyalty to my wife Yanna but I will not be kept from her a second long. Where is she working.”
“She might not want to see you.”
“Then she can tell me that to my face. If she tells me she doesn’t want me in her life then I will leave her alone.” I wouldn’t but no one but me needed to know that.
“I’ll find her either way Yanna.” I pointed out
“Fine.” Her shoulders sagged. “There’s a practice in town. She’s a part time doctor there.” Lifting her arm she looked at her watch. “She will be finishing late tonight so she should still be there.”
I barely registered her words as I sprinted back to my car and slammed on the accelerator.
I had seen my sons, and now I knew where my wife was.
I had found her.
