Chapter 257
Cassie
Ian didn’t look surprised to find me in clothes that were different to the ones he had left me in when we walked into the living room an hour and half later.
He didn’t even seem surprised that Julian was behind me.
Which meant-
A blush crept up my cheeks.
“You two took your time leaving the office.” Ian said softly, and went back to sipping at his coffee. A smile forcing up his lips.
“You,” I swallowed hard and my blush turned scarlet. “Came to the office?”
“I didn’t come in the office , that by the sounds of it was just you two.” He chuckled before dropping the cup from his lips and bursting into a full blown belly laugh. “I could hear you from the car park and retreated pretty quickly.” His eyes met mine. “I knew you would call me if you needed help.” Heaving himself up wards he turned to face up completely but his eyes were on Julian and not me.
“You’re highness.” He ducked his head in the smallest of bows and the air around us turned thick as both men, the two of them alphas and powerful surveyed each other.
“Ian.” Julian’s grip on my hand tightened. He wasn’t growling but i could feel his arms shaking as they stared at each other.
Blowing a raspberry I shook his hand off and stepped between the two men. “Are we going to have a problem here or are we all good?”
Ian’s eyes narrowed. “I guess that depends on the king.” He said in a menacing voice.
Julian hesitated for a second and I prepared myself for whatever violence was about to erupt.
If they were going to fight then they would have to do it outside though. I liked my house unsmashed by testosterone fuelled alpha -holes.
“Take it outside and-“
Julian cut me off with a sigh. “We are fine.”
I turned to him in shock and watched as his shoulders slumped and all the tension seeped out of him.
“I have no argument with you Ian.” He said softly and reached for my hand again. Entwining our fingers and bringing me to his side.
“I know that everything you did was to keep my mate and my children safe.”
For a moment Ian’s eyes widened and then his smile was back in place. “It was Julian. I have always and will always be loyal to you. Even if-“ he chuckled low in his throat. “You didn’t like my methods.” Thrusting out his hand , he waited for Julian to shake it.
The moment he did, Julian pulled him into a hug. The manly kind where they slapped each others back.
Rolling my eyes I stepped away from them and towards the kitchen area. I needed a drink and -
“Where are you going?” Julian asked.
“Refreshments. You guys bond.” Rolling my eyes.
“Maybe a shower before Yanna and the boys arrive.” Ian chuckled. “Because the - scents coming from you is kind of wild right now.”
Julian’s eyes blazed but I couldn’t blame him. He wasn’t used to Ian being so loose lipped around me.
My cheeks flamed scarlet. “You can smell-“
Shit I couldn’t even finish. Of course Ian could smell sex. We hadn’t showered yet and I could feel Julian’s seed leaking from my body.
Ian would be able to smell us both.
“The fact that you gave each other the mating mark?” Ian’s eyebrows arched upwards. “Although I don’t want to even know where because I don’t see any visible marks.” He held his hands out as he fell back on to the sofa. “Not my place to ask. I just hope you both know what you are doing?”
“We do.” Julian answered quickly. “I have a lot to tell you.”
“Then I guess you best start telling us although Yanna probably should be here as well.” Ian looked at his watch. “She will be here shortly.” His eyes met mine. “She tried to ring you but tjere was no answer. This one-“ he jerked his thumb towards Julian like he was a normal guy and not the king. “Found her first but there was no answer when she tried to warn you.”
“My battery died.” I shrugged. Even if she had got through I don’t think things would have ended up any differently. Maybe the place of our reunion would have been but not the ending.
“I’m going to grab a quick shower.” I smiled as Julian stood up expectantly. “Alone.” I laughed. “You come with me and it will kind of defeat the purpose. You can have one after.” Padding over to him I pressed my lips to his in a soft kiss that threatened to grow into something much harder if we weren’t careful.
“So this is where my wife and mate has been slumming it?”
I heard him ask as I was half way up the stairs. Freezing I turned to them. Because I loved my home and it was definitely far from “slumming it.”
“Yes and both her and your boys love it here. You know that riches and grandeur has never been on Cassies wish list. She never asked or wanted to be queen. She just wants to be a mum and help people.” Ian said quietly. “She wants to be free.”
Julian’s sigh was loud. “I know and I think I could love it here as well. It’s so perfectly Cassie, isn’t it?”
Ian remained silent.
“I love her, you know that right?”
“I do.” Ian huffed. “I’ve always known that Julian, it was you that needed help working that out. But I hope you know now.”
I couldn’t see Julian nod but I knew he had.
“And that’s why I am willing to give it all up.”
I held my breath.
“If this is what Cassie and the boys want then this is what I will give them. All she has to do is say the word and I’ll-“ he took a deep breath. “I’ll give up the crown for her.”
