Chapter 252

Cassie

Pausing as I made my way back into my office with my coffee and sandwich in hand , i looked around and my brows slammed down.

Something was wrong. There was no sound, which wasn’t surprising because everyone else had gone home an hour ago. Around about the same time that I had popped down the street for something to eat. But this was too quiet.

Too quiet and- I looked around again.

Too dark. Almost like someone had closed all the blinds.

Nothing moved, it wa just quiet and- dark

But there was no one here, my wolf might not like coming out to play anymore but I still had all my heightened senses and I couldn’t sense anything.

Which meant I was just being paranoid. Probably because I hadn’t heard from Ian yet and I was worried about him.

Frowning I pulled my phone from my bag, I hadn’t heard from Yanna either and she always called when she had picked up the boys.

Staring down at the dark screen I frowned even harder. It wouldn’t light up. Over and over again I pressed the buttons and the screen remained stubbornly dark.

Either broken or out of battery

The phone was new so I was guessing it was dead and I just hadn’t noticed.

“Serves you right Cassie,” I mumbled to myself as I moved through the empty waiting room towards the back office where I worked. “Everyone and their dog could have been trying to get ahold of you and you didn’t even notice it had died.”

Throwing open the door I moved towards the desk where I kept a spare charger and it was only when I had got half way across the floor when I released it was dark in here as well.

Now out in the waiting room it could have been the receptionist who had closed the blinds and I just hadn’t noticed before stepping out but this was different. I knew the blinds in here had been open when I left and I had locked the door behind me.

Someone had been in here. And really recently. Someone who wanted me alone and in the dark

Unease flared up my skin, making goosebumps erupt all over my arms.

Spinning on my heels I had taken a step towards the door and freedom when a strong arm clamped its way around my waist and a warm hand came over my nose and mouth blocking off the scream that lodged in my throat.

“Sssh.” A male voice said. “Don’t scream. I’m not going to hurt you.” The much bigger body shuffled forward, forcing me toward the door before locking me against it.

“I just need help.”

I froze, breathing heavily through my mouth as his scent finally assaulted me. A whole body tremor went through me, as Julian’s massive body pressed me into the wood door.

I opened my mouth again to ask questions but could get more than a muffled murmur out because of his hand over my mouth.

How hadn’t I sensed him when I walked in. I knew Julian’s scent almost as well as I knew my own but I hadn’t scented him at all.

“Please help me.” From his place pressed behind me , I felt him exhale. His breath moving the little hairs on my neck.

Turning me to face him, he kept one hand over my mouth and the other hooked around my waists to keep me locked to his hard body.

“If I let go of your mouth will you scream?” Julian’s voice was husky. I shook my head, staring up at his beautiful eyes from above his hand.

Julian’s eyes crinkled in a smile that didn’t reach his face.

“Why don’t I believe you?”

I shrugged because hello, I couldn’t speak.

His hand slipped from my mouth to curl under my short hair. My lips parted.

And he kissed me, hard and fast. Silencing any words I was about to say.

Tensing I kept my lips hard of his and my body didn’t melt into his like I knew he was expecting me to.

“Cassie-“ With a ragged breath he tore his lips from mine. “Please.”

It was the please that did it. He sounded so lost, so desperate and so in need that I softened slightly in his arms.

“Goddess.” His mouth came crashing back and this time when he kissed me I couldn’t help but kiss him back. Reaching up on tiptoes so I could plunder his mouth with mine.

It was a coming together of souls. Different to the kiss he had given me yesterday. This was-

Julian groaned into my mouth, deepening the kiss and lifted me off my feet. My sensible heels fell with a soft thud as he tried to wrap my legs around him.

And goddess I wanted that. I wanted to be that close to him but my tight  skirt wouldn’t allow it to happen.

His groan turned into a growl of frustration.

I got that frustration. I really did because there was nothing I wanted more right now than to press my aching core against him and feel that delicious friction.

“I need-“ his lips found mine again as he swung me up and into his arms. “You.” Kiss. “To help me.” Another kiss and we were at my desk. “Cassie.”

One sweep of his arm and my papers went flying. Scattering across the floor.

He smashed his mouth onto mine in a kiss so searing that it felt like it set my body alight and then he was pressing me down onto that hard wooden desk. Covering my body with his, he caught my face between his big hands and stared down at me.

“Help me.” He said and his eyes blazed. “I need-“

Memories flooded me and I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it before but now I couldn’t think of anything but. All of this was just so familiar. A time of my life that I tried hard to forget but never quite could. And it was clear that Julian hadn’t either.

This was our first meeting.
