"So that's it?" she asked me, "you're just going to walk away?"

"Isn't that what you want?" I asked her.

She looked down and then her eyes found mine. I closed the distance between us and I picked her up and kissed her. Her back found the wall and I leaned in and pressed myself against her. She wasn't fighting me, she was kissing me back with her own urgency matching mine.

I could feel Baz in my head and I knew my eyes would be yellow if I opened them but I did anyway. I moved to the bedroom and I lowered her to the bed and hovered on top of her. Her hands went up to my shoulders and I shrugged my jacket off as she unbuttoned my shirt.

I could feel the bond pulsating between us, giving me an euphoric feeling of happiness as she touched me. I lifted her dress and pulled her underwear off as she unbuckled my belt. I pulled her up and unzipped her dress and pulled it over her head.

"Rylee," I whispered against her neck. She arched it slightly as my teeth grazed her and she wrapped her legs around me and I didn't wait for a second invitation. I pushed inside her and I didn't stop, her soft moans driving me to push harder as my mouth found hers.

A bead of sweat from my forehead dripped on her cheek as I stayed on top of her. I hadn't moved after releasing and I was still semi-hard inside her. I wiped the sweat from her cheek and she leaned into my hand as she gripped my arm with her other hand.

Without realizing it I had started to move again but this time it was slow and torturous. I knew that after tonight I couldn't let her be with anyone else but me. I felt so possessive and I absolutely hated Colin Maxwell for claiming her heart when I couldn't.

I lay on my back catching my breath as Rylee lay on her side facing me. We couldn't hold a conversation for five minutes without fighting and then having sex and it confused the shit out of me. Was it the bond that drove her to give in because she sure as hell didn't love me, I'm not even sure if I loved her anymore but I knew I wanted her.

"Do you love him?" I asked her.

"Colin?" she asked and I nodded, "yes I love him."

"I think you should go now," I said to her and stood up from the bed.

"Lucas…" she said.

"Get out Rylee," I said before the emotions could overtake me and slammed the door of the bathroom closed.

Rylee wasn't in my room when I got out of the shower and I heard Hannah yell goodnight to me. I got back into bed and tried to sleep. I was an asshole, I know, but she loved him and she didn't even hesitate to admit it. I felt the piercing sharp pain in my heart at that realization.

I woke up the following morning and got ready for my meeting with Jasper about acquiring the hotel. I had slept well because Rylee's scent was in my room and in my bed and as much as I hated to admit it, it was comforting.

Hannah had left a note saying that she would be out the entire day, shopping, sightseeing and going to some spa before that night's main event. It was a formal ball and most Sires brought their unbonded daughters to see if they bonded to another Sire. I was glad that Hannah would be spared although I was sure that more than a few Sires would be disappointed when they didn't bond with her.

"Lucas!" I heard Jasper as I entered the lobby. He stood up from a table in the dining room and I joined him.

Rylee and Colin were sitting three tables away and she looked miserable. Her eyes were red and didn't seem like she slept at all. I sat down across from Jasper with my back towards Rylee, I didn't want to see her or Colin. I might just beat the shit out of him if I had to watch them interact.

"How are you feeling?" Jasper asked me.

"Why is he so eager to sell this hotel to us?" I asked him.

"He's got problems with the ruling Sire here, they don't see eye to eye," Jasper said.

"What's our position with him?" I asked.

"I haven't met him yet, his name's Charles Maxwell," he said.

"Any relation to Colin Maxwell?" I asked him.

"I believe they're cousins, do you know him?" he asked.

"This is just fucking great," I said as I checked my watch.

"Look there are plenty of other hotels we could buy," Jasper said as he looked at me.

"Not with a central location for dragonkin like this one," I said and stood up as Charles Maxwell headed over to our table.

"Sire Lucas, Sire Jasper, thank you for agreeing to see me so early," he said.

"Thank you for agreeing to the meeting," Jasper said and we all shook hands.

We followed him back to his office on the top floor of the hotel and ordered coffee from his assistant. Every employee in the hotel was dragonkin and most of them had no lair, I could tell that much. The assistant was bold, checking out Jasper and then me and I almost felt naked as her eyes roamed over me.

"Are all your employees that bold?" Jasper asked and Charles laughed.

"The unmarked women, yes," he said.

"Forgive my bluntness Charles, why are you so eager to sell to us?" I asked him after our coffee had been delivered.

"Straight to the point, I'd heard that about you," Charles said with an easy smile.

"Better than bullshitting each other for ten minutes pretending we're interested in small talk," I said with a shrug as Jasper laughed.

"My lair is located a few miles south of here, the hotel doesn't fall in my territory. I have a love hate relationship with Sire Jason who's territory this is," he said honestly. Baz was listening intently without making it obvious.

"We have to consider your current relationship with the Sire and how it will influence the sale of the hotel once we step in," Jasper said.

"He's not unreasonable and I don't see why you should have any problems with him, he's only an asshole with me," Charles said.

"What did you do?" I asked him and Jasper looked at me in shock.

I never beat around the bush and if that diminished our chances of buying the hotel here then it wasn't meant to be. Business was business and I wasn't going to let another Sire's personal feelings influence that.

"He has a sister…" Charles began.

"You slept with her and that was that, no bond, no mark, no future," I finished for him.

"Something like that," he said.

"We can handle that, I've been there," I said to him.

"So gentlemen, do we draw up the papers or what?" Charles asked.

"I think we have a deal here," Jasper said and Charles smiled broadly.

"Have your lawyer send the paperwork to our lawyer and hopefully by the end of this bullshit ball we can sign the papers," I said and stood up.

"Done," Charles said and we shook hands again. I left Jasper in his office to go over other details like employees who would remain working for us, their benefits and termination packages for the ones we didn't want.

"Well, well, well, should have known that you'd be here early and stake your claim." I closed my eyes briefly at the sound of his voice and turned around.

"Look what the cat dragged in," I said and we shook hands.

"Let me guess you already had your meeting with Mr. Maxwell and you bought this hotel from right under our noses," he said.

"Should have gotten up earlier," I said to him.

"Congratulations seems in order then," he said.

"Don't bullshit me Carson, if you try to undermine this deal with me and Jasper, I will retaliate," I said.

"Is your dog still in prison?" JD asked as he eyed me.

"Would you like to join him?" I asked as my eyes flashed yellow and JD took a step backwards.

"Just making small talk," he said as Carson whispered something to him.

"Go do it somewhere else," I said and kept walking back to the dining room.

I saw the three Elders as they sat at a table in the back and spoke quietly to each other. I walked over to them and joined them without asking. I knew they mostly thought of me as rude and too bold in my actions but I didn't care, Baz was stronger than their dragons.

"Good morning Elders," I said and shook each of their hands.

"Sire Lucas, what a pleasant surprise," Elder Gareth said. I could see in his eyes that this was anything but pleasant for them.

"I need an urgent meeting in one of the conference rooms, today still, before the ball," I said.

"This can't wait until we are back home?" Elder Peter asked me.

"No, it can't," I said and slid the key card for the conference room over to him on the table.

"Very well then," Elder James said as he took the key card.

"Our meeting is scheduled for noon," I said and stood up.

I headed back upstairs to my room and saw Hannah exiting it. She looked beautiful as always and this morning was no exception.

"Where are you off to?" I asked her as she kissed my cheek.

"Spending your money," she said with a smile.

"Hannah be careful, take Thomas with you, the McIntyre's have arrived and as much as I'd like to kill one or both of them, the Elders wouldn't approve," I said to her and she laughed.

"You taught me well Lucas, I doubt either of them would survive messing with me," she said.

"Don't kill anyone," I said as she walked away from me.

I unlocked the door of the hotel suite and walked into my room. I could still smell Rylee in there and I tried to block it out. In the end I called housekeeping to change the sheets because I couldn't think clearly. Baz was pushing me to talk to her and I shut him out too.

I showered and changed into more casual clothes, which meant that I didn't put a tie on with my suit. I'd have to wear a tie tonight and I hated it. I left my jacket off too and rolled my shirt's sleeves up to my elbows. The room didn't smell like her anymore and now I could focus on what I had to do, for my own sanity.

"Don't do this halfling," Baz chimed in my head.

"We have to Baz, it's time I put an end to this," I said.
