Timothy sat at my desk and I sat across from him on the sofa as he opened his laptop and looked at me. I took the letter from my jacket pocket and handed it to him. He read it and I saw his eyes widen as he folded the letter and handed it back to me.
“This is…” he said.
“I know,” I said to him as he shook his head.
“What are their names?” he asked me his expression still stoic.
“Gareth Wineston, James Hitchenson and Peter Phillips,” I said to him.
“Bastards,” he said as he started typing on the laptop, “this might take a while, I’ll come get you as soon as I have something.”
“Thanks, there’s something I need to do anyway,” I said to him.
“Take your time. I have a program running down their names for any property owned and then I’ll start searching for their faces wherever they’re located just to make sure they are in fact there,” he said and I stood up.
I nodded and left Timothy to do his thing and headed back to the bedroom as I sent a text to Stella. Rylee was in the shower and I could hear the water running. I sat down on the toilet and I listened to her sing out of tune. The water shut off and the door opened and her scream echoed through the bathroom as she saw me sitting there.
“Shit Lucas!” she said angrily as I laughed at her.
“Rylee whoever breaks in here won’t be patiently waiting for you to finish your shower,” I said to her as I handed her a towel.
“That’s not the point, you could’ve said something so that I knew you were in here,” she glared at me.
“You look so hot when you’re angry,” I said and stood up as she backed away.
“I look hot because I just had a hot shower,” she said as I kept stalking closer to her.
“I think you owe me make up sex for this outburst of yours,” I said and she laughed suddenly.
“Keep your pants on Lucas, I thought Timothy was here,” she said as she pushed past me and walked to the dressing room.
“He’s busy doing his thing which gives me some free time,” I said as I followed her and pulled the towel away.
“And I know exactly what you have in mind on how to spend your free time,” she said as my arms encircled her from the back and I started kissing her neck.
“Actually I don’t think you do,” I said.
“Then whatever’s poking me in the back better stop,” she said as I laughed and stepped back uncomfortably.
“We don’t have time for that now Rylee, geez woman, is sex all you think about?” I asked her as she turned around and gaped open mouthed at me.
“Asshole,” she said and I laughed as I sat down on the settee.
“Stella’s on her way, I asked her to come do the ultrasound while Timothy’s still busy,” I said to her.
“Okay you were right, I didn’t expect that one,” she said as she started getting dressed.
“But I mean if I really excite you that much I can always make a plan to satisfy your needs,” I said to her as she threw the towel at my head.
“So you mean if I lean over this couch this way you don’t get excited at all,” she said softly as she leaned forward slightly and exposed everything to me.
I was up and behind her as I gripped her hip with one hand and unzipped my pants with the other. I spread her legs more and entered her swiftly from behind. She moaned slightly pushing me closer to the edge, knowing exactly what to do to tease me.
Twenty minutes later my phone pinged as Stella announced her arrival and Rylee went back to getting dressed as I hastily made an effort to clean myself up in the bathroom. I was still done before Rylee as she combed her hair and I stood in the doorway once again watching her.
“We wouldn’t be late now if you hadn’t seduced me,” I said to her.
“I seduced you?” she asked me.
“You were the one that bent over the couch,” I said as I looked at the shocked expression on her face.
“Let’s just go meet Stella,” she said as she switched the lights off and I followed her out of the bedroom.
We walked past my office and I could see Timothy was hard at work with a steaming cup of coffee next to him. The rest of the house was relatively quiet and we walked outside and headed to the guest part of the house and the infirmary where Stella was waiting for us.
“Thanks for coming Stella,” I said to her.
“No problem at all, I’m just as excited to know what we’re expecting,” she said and Rylee laughed.
Rylee lay down on the bed and pulled her shirt up while Stella put the machine on and squirted the gel on her stomach. I pushed a chair next to the bed and we waited for Stella to get started.
“How have you been feeling in general?” Stella asked her.
“Better than I thought, I can’t really complain,” Rylee said.
“Let’s see what’s going on here,” Stella said with a smile as she started the ultrasound.
She took measurements and made notes and we listened to the two heartbeats and I saw the happiness on Rylee’s face as she closed her eyes and just listened.
“The babies are looking perfect Rylee, they’re slightly bigger than I expected but that’s a good thing, measurements are looking good and their development is on par,” she said with a smile.
“Okay good now tell me their genders,” I said to her and Rylee laughed.
“Someone’s excited,” Stella said as Rylee nodded.
“We both are, although I’m just happy to hear that they’re healthy,” she said.
“Okay here we go, baby one right here on the left is a boy and baby two here on the right is also a boy,” Stella said.
“Are you sure?” I asked her.
“Yes, you see that,” she pointed to the screen, “those are penises.”
“Two boys,” Rylee whispered as she looked at me.
“Congratulations,” Stella said as she printed a few pictures and wiped the gel from Rylee’s stomach.
“Thanks and thanks again for taking the time to do this,” I said to her.
“You know I’m here anytime you need me,” she said and turned to make more notes in her file.
“Are you happy?” Rylee asked me when we walked out of the infirmary room.
“Aren’t you?” I asked her.
“What if they’re like you?” she asked me and laughed.
“Nice Rylee, really nice,” I said and smiled.
Rylee and I went back to the house and I stopped in the doorway of my office as Rylee stayed in the living room downstairs. Timothy looked up at me and I could see the concentration etched on his face.
“Anything?” I asked him.
“I might have something,” he said.
“Like?”
“They bought a house a few months ago, it’s on the outskirts of Broadview. It might be worth looking into,” he said.
“Nothing else?” I asked him.
“No, sorry,” he said.
I sent a text to Jasper and braced myself to call Brandon. It’s not that I didn’t trust him, I did, but I didn’t want him involved if this didn’t pan out or if things went wrong. He was a year younger than me and he had no heirs, I at least had two on the way and Jasper’s son from an affair was already ten years old.
“Hi Lucas,” he answered the phone.
“I have news,” I said to him and I could hear his intake of breath.
“What?” he asked me.
“It’s a long story but the bottom line is, the Elders were involved with Joseph’s operations and Timothy found a house they bought, the team’s going to check it out because I think we’ll find Joseph with those three old goons,” I said to him.
“I can be there in two hours,” he said to me.
“Brandon, you don’t have to, you just met your bonded half,” I said to him.
“Oh you mean the one that was sold by Joseph, fuck you Lucas,” he said to me.
“Just you okay, Jasper’s on his way too,” I said to him.
“See you later,” he said and ended the call.
I called the family downstairs to the living room so I could fill them in on what was happening. Rev came up from the basement and he smelled like blood and Carson’s fear. Timothy joined us for the meeting and I waited until everyone got comfortable.
“Timothy found an address for the Elders. Preston, I want you to stay here with warriors and watch the house, keep everyone here safe. Rev, Timothy, Brandon, Jasper and I will go to Broadview and see what we find there,” I said.
“I want to come with you,” Hannah said and Rev and I both glared at her.
“No,” he said and I nodded. There was no way Hannah was going with us.
“Joseph threatened all of you, he told me in so many words what he would like to do with all of you, I can’t take the chance of placing any of you in danger. You’ll stay here and listen to what we say,” I said to Hannah.
“We’ll be right here,” Rylee said as she looked at Hannah.
“I can’t worry about you not listening Hannah,” I said.
“She’ll listen,” Rev said and he looked at her pointedly.
“Can we at least watch Preston with Carson?” she asked.
“Don’t kill him, Rylee asked to shoot him in the head when we’re done with him,” I said and she looked at Rylee.
“Really?” Hannah asked her.
“Yes, I want to see his dead body and then I’ll feel so much better,” she said.
Two hours later Brandon and Jasper arrived, ready to leave at once. Rev had packed guns for us, I had changed into jeans and boots, and we took one of the SUV’s as Timothy sat in the front with me and kept typing on his laptop.
“Lucas you know those three Elders aren’t surviving the night, even if we don’t find Joseph,” Jasper said.
“Obviously,” I said.
