Baz walked outside and separated from me as we neared the open area at the back of the house. He took a deep breath and blew it into my face. My eyes closed instantly and I was transported to the dragon realm.
“Typhon,” I said as I saw the black tail flicking across the floor and bowed my head.
“Sire Lucas host of Bazzoit,” he said in his deep voice.
“My liege,” Bazzoit said and bowed his head.
“Bazzoit, descendant of mine,” Typhon said.
“We are but humble servants in your presence seeking permission to speak with you,” Baz said.
“Permission granted,” Typhon breathed and he peered at me as his head moved out of the shadows.
“We seek to trace a familial bond. Sire Lucas’s sister has been taken by degenerates and we need to find her,” Baz said.
“Yes,” his voice hissed for a moment.
“We request to use the magic of this realm to find her,” Baz requested.
“Granted my child,” Typhon said.
“Thank you,” I said with my head still bowed.
“You are an intriguing one Sire Lucas, you fear your Elders not and I grant you permission to fulfill your wish,” he said inside my head.
I opened my eyes as Typhon took a deep breath and released it over my face. He smelled like fire and power and I was standing in the open garden again as Baz merged with me and our eyes glowed yellow again.
Baz pushed and I allowed him full control of my body, something I had never done before. I needed to show him that I trusted him completely even if he disliked me right now. I knew he wanted to find Hannah as much as I did. He chose the large black SUV and climbed into the driver’s side.
Jasper, Rev and Preston followed behind me and climbed into the car. Timothy chose to follow behind us in his own car as Baz started driving. He drove to the borders of Aurora and looked around before entering McIntyre territory.
Baz turned onto the highway and drove towards Chicago. I could hear Jasper’s intake of breath and we drove in silence for the next hour. Baz drove through a maze of streets and he slowed as we entered lower Chicago and the Industrial area. He parked the van across the street from a warehouse and climbed out.
“Bazzoit, what’s your plan?” Jasper asked him.
“I’m going in there to get my sister, you can wait if you’re too afraid Sire,” Baz said.
“Baz if you weren’t in control right now I’d say fuck you but I won’t,” he said and Baz laughed.
“Have your dragons ready to separate once we enter, this will turn ugly,” he said.
Rev took two guns from underneath his jacket and handed one to Baz as Preston and Jasper took out their own guns. We had no idea how many men were inside or what we would find once we entered the warehouse or if we would even make it out alive.
Baz broke the lock on a side door and pushed the door open. He raised the gun and started shooting as he kept walking. The sounds were deafening as it echoed around the warehouse and I could hear more gunshots around us. Timothy moved at the speed of light and I only saw his figure in a blur as he moved forward but the screams told me that he was on a killing spree.
“Don’t be afraid halfling, just accept the power,” he said to me.
I could feel myself changing into something different and I looked at my arms as Baz’s dark grey scales covered them. My shirt ripped open at the back and I felt a sharp searing pain as my wings emerged and folded across my back.
“What the fuck!” Preston said loudly as I morphed into a smaller version of Baz but kept my human figure. I was covered in scales and my hands had changed to claws. I had a tail that flicked across the floor with barbed spikes on the end. My wings were large and had hooks at the very top.
Baz then separated from me and the first gunshot hit me in the chest but it didn’t penetrate the strong scales that covered me. I lunged forward and swiped at the man with my claws and I watched him go down as I shredded his chest and large gaping wounds stared back at me.
“Find her,” Baz said and spread his wings as he lunged forward and crashed through the drywalls and I could hear him roar and people scream. We all went our separate ways as three more dragons lunged after Baz.
I caught Hannah’s scent and I followed it blindly, killing as men lunged at me or yelled in fear at the sight of me. I only focused on getting to her and getting her out safely. I walked down a series of corridors on the ground level as I heard the gunshots in the distance.
My chest and arms were covered in blood as I simply extended my claws and killed whoever was in my way. I could smell smoke and I knew somewhere Baz had set fire to something. Her scent grew stronger and mingled with the smell of fear from women around her. I could smell they were female and some were screaming in pain.
“Lucas!” I heard Hannah’s voice as she yelled my name out.
I turned and stopped in front of a steel door and sniffed the air. I could smell her on the other side with three other women. I tried the handle and found the door locked. I took a few steps backwards and then ran with my shoulder straight into the door. It made a dent and budged slightly so I repeated the process and the door flew off one hinge as I crashed through it.
“Hannah!” I said the moment I saw her and she took a step backwards when her eyes found mine. I had no idea what I looked like but I assumed it was scary.
“I knew you’d find me!” she said and launched herself at me. I caught her in the air and I held onto her tightly. She wasn’t afraid and she let go of me as she turned around.
“We have to get them out,” she said as the women stared at me in fear.
“Stay behind me,” I said as I turned around and Carson pressed his gun against my forehead.
“Not so fast,” he said as he looked at me, “what the fuck are you?”
“Your worst nightmare,” Baz’s voice came and Carson was knocked to the ground by Baz’s tail. I was on top of Carson and I hit him in his face until he was unconscious and Hannah yelled that I was going to kill him.
I took his arm in my hand and dragged him along the floor with us. Hannah spoke reassuringly to the other women with her and when we reached the side door we found a group of twenty more women huddled close together as Rev and Preston stood near them.
“Rev!” Hannah yelled loudly as she ran to him and he grabbed her into a hug.
“Don’t you ever fucking do that to me again,” he yelled at her.
“I love you too,” she said and kissed him.
“Where’s Jasper?” I asked.
“Outside, he’s calling his people for transportation,” Preston said.
“Look what I found,” I said as I let go of Carson’s arm and it fell limply to the floor.
“Son of a bitch,” Preston said as he balled his fists.
The dragons landed nearby and Baz watched as Jasper walked back inside and their dragons merged with them again. He gave me a look and then dove back into me. I felt the scales recede and it burned slightly as I changed back to my human form.
“Thank you Baz,” I said to him.
“It’s Hannah, what did you expect?” he asked me.
“How the hell did you do that?” Preston asked me.
“Baz did it,” I said to him as he looked at me in awe.
“That’s some scary shit, even I’d pee my pants if I saw you at night like that,” Preston said and Rev laughed.
Jasper’s men arrived and Hannah took charge once again. She got everyone inside vehicles and Timothy finally made an appearance. His face was covered in blood and everybody just gawked at him as he rubbed his stomach.
“Now that’s what I call a feeding frenzy,” he said sounding satisfied.
“Shit man wipe your face,” Jasper said.
“Yes daddy,” Timothy replied with a grin.
“Timothy!” Hannah yelled and grabbed him in a hug.
“You! You are in so much trouble when we get back to Aurora,” Timothy said but hugged her tightly.
“It worked didn’t it,” she said.
“We’ll talk about it at home because you’re grounded,” I said to her and she burst out laughing.
“Rev already said he’s chaining me to the bed,” she said.
“Damn Hannah I didn’t want to know about your kinky escapades with Rev!” Jasper said loudly.
“Fuck off,” Rev said and grabbed Hannah’s hand as he led her to the SUV.
“Let’s go,” I said as I picked Carson up from the floor and Timothy opened the rear door of his car.
We drove in a single line back to Aurora, six cars in total and I took my phone out to call Tessa. She needed to be prepared to house all these women. I was still reeling from the feeling of power that Baz had given me when I shifted into a dragon.
“Hi Lucas,” Tessa answered her phone.
“We have twenty women arriving in about fifty minutes,” I said to her.
“Shit, okay, don’t worry, we’re on it,” she said.
“Some of them are hurt and some traumatized, others are okay,” I said to her.
“We’ll be ready, I’ll call Stella,” she said.
“Thanks,” I replied and ended the phone call.
I looked at Hannah in the rearview mirror as Rev had his arm around her shoulder and he was whispering to her in her ear. She kept nodding her head and I knew that he was probably threatening her and giving her hell.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you guys but I knew you’d try to stop me,” she said after a while.
“Of course we would’ve stopped you, you could’ve been hurt or raped or killed!” I yelled at her.
“But I wasn’t,” she said.
“I don’t fucking care! You can’t take chances like that with your life!” I said angrily.
“Are you done venting now?” she asked me.
“Yes,” I said and she laughed.
“We did it, we ended them,” she said.
“No we didn’t, Joseph McIntyre’s still out there,” I said to her.
“But now we have proof,” she said with a satisfied smile.
