Two weeks had gone by and things were looking up. I had a meeting scheduled with Jasper and Marcus at the end of the month at The Drake to finalize the signature wine list that would go to every hotel we owned.
Chris, Jax and Jade had moved into their own house not too far from us and every time I saw her she looked different. Jax had taken leave for the next two months but they stopped by every week for dinner.
“Come in,” I said at the knock on my door.
“If you’re busy I can come back later,” Rylee said.
“You don’t have to knock Rylee. I’ll always make time for you,” I said to her as she sat down.
“It’s been almost a month since we talked about introducing me to the lair,” she began.
“You’ve made a decision?” I asked her.
“Yes, I want to go ahead,” she said and I smiled.
“Great, I’ll have Hannah give you a hand in the planning,” I said to her.
“Does this mean we’re engaged now?” she asked as she looked at me.
“Basically yes, Hannah will guide you through everything that needs to be done, but from this point onwards, you make all the decisions regarding the ceremony and you just tell me when to show up,” I said as she laughed.
“So if I decide to let you wear a pink tie, you’ll do it?” she asked as she walked towards me and I pulled her onto my lap.
“Pink looks quite good on me,” I said as she laughed.
“I’m sure everything looks good on you,” she mused as I lifted her onto the table and pulled myself closer in between her legs.
“Actually nothing looks good on me,” I said as my hands trailed up her legs.
“Thinking too much of yourself again,” she whispered as I tugged on her underwear and she lifted herself so I could pull it off.
“I prefer you in nothing as well,” I said as I unzipped my pants.
“Maybe I’ll put nothing on for you tonight,” she said with her eyes closed as I pulled her back on top of me in the chair. She moved slightly and I slid inside her as I closed my eyes too. My hands slid to either side of her hips and she moved slowly, too slowly.
I opened my eyes and found her staring at me ignoring my hands as I urged her faster. She was teasing me and my eyes flashed yellow as she increased her speed slightly.
“Rylee, if you don’t start moving faster I’m going to slam you down on my desk,” I said near her ear.
“Patience Sire Lucas,” she whispered as I gripped her hips tighter.
“You shouldn’t tease me like this, you might not like the consequences or you just might,” I whispered as I bit softly into her shoulder.
Rylee moaned as the door to my office flew open and Preston screamed like a little girl, “ah my virgin eyes!” The door slammed shut again and Rylee started laughing as I swore. She lifted herself off of me and put her underwear back on.
“Maybe you won’t work so late tonight,” she said as she left me sitting there and walked out of my office leaving the door open.
“Preston!” I yelled as I zipped my pants up again.
“Sorry,” he said as he walked back in with his one hand in front of him and the other hand covering his eyes.
“What the fuck do you want?” I asked him.
“There’s a McIntyre messenger at the front door,” he said, “he said he’s only talking to you.”
“This day just gets better and better,” I said and Preston suppressed his laughter as he looked at me.
“Well don’t go out looking all happy to see him,” he said and pointed at me.
“Asshole,” I said as he laughed again and I forced myself to think of anything to get rid of this erection.
Ten minutes later I walked down the stairs still feeling irritable and found the man on the steps. Tom and Jay stood a few feet behind him and Preston stood in front of him. He didn’t look familiar but he had enough savvy to lower his head the moment he saw me.
“Sire Lucas,” he said in greeting.
“Spit it out,” I said to him.
“Carson McIntyre, future Sire of the lair has filed a return of member order with the Elders of our district, demanding you return member Rylee Christianson to their territory at once,” he said.
“After six years?” I asked and looked at him.
“She never formally resigned from the lair nor was permission granted for her to leave and now that he has become aware of her presence back in Aurora the motion is valid. You have twenty-four hours to return Ms. Christianson to her rightful lair or face the consequences,” he said.
“And what are those consequences?” I asked him.
“The Elders will decide whether it is retribution, financial punishment or both,” he said.
“I’ll take my chances, now fuck off,” I said to him.
“Twenty-four hours Sire,” he said and turned around.
“Jay please ensure that this piece of McIntyre shit leaves our territory and doesn’t pollute our nice upper side with the stench that is their lair,” I said and Jay smirked as he looked at the man.
Preston closed the front door behind him and followed me back to my office. I sat down behind my desk and punched in a few numbers in the landline and waited as it rang.
“Elder Peter Phillips speaking,” he answered the phone.
“It’s Lucas,” I said trying to keep my voice normal.
“Ah Sire Grey, what can we do for you?” he asked.
“Listen here you senile old piece of shit! Hand Rylee over to them? Are you fucking kidding me? Your last order was six months in Aurora in my house and now you want me to hand her over to the very same fucking person that raped her?” I yelled.
“Sire Lucas, no evidence of your allegation has been presented to us,” he said in a calm voice.
“I don’t fucking care about your evidence!” I yelled louder.
“The McIntyre lair has in fact supplied us with statements from her parents stating that they have been searching for her for these past six years, she was at the time on the verge of getting engaged to JD Lange and efficient proof has been supplied to us that she is still indeed a member of their lair,” he said.
“She’s twenty-three years old, she’s an adult and living in my house as per your orders,” I said a bit calmer.
“She still needs to return to grant the Sire her reasons for leaving and getting his permission, adult or not,” he said.
“And if I refuse to hand her over?” I asked him.
“Financial repayment, retribution or exile for your lair,” he said.
“How much do they want?” I asked him.
“Sire Lucas, in case you’ve forgotten…” he began to say.
“I don’t fucking care what you have to say, as Elders of this district you’re supposed to look after everyone yet the only thing you three fucking bastards are intent on doing is sucking McIntyre’s dick the whole time. You can’t afford to exile me so don’t even think that threat will work, if they want money send me a number. I’m not handing Rylee over to them,” I said and ended the phone call.
Rylee stood in the doorway her eyes full of fear and she jumped as I slammed my fist down on the table. Preston took her by the arm and closed my office door as I picked up the phone again. It was time for me to see just how many friends I did have. I sent out a mass text and opened my laptop.
I had scheduled an emergency meeting with the other Sires within a hundred miles of us. This was the only thing I could think of to do. I knew Carson didn’t really want my money, they wanted Rylee or me in exile. With my lair in exile we’d be excluded from Elder protection and fair game to whoever, open to attacks and we’d get no assistance from anyone, lest they also face exile.
At five thirty I went downstairs to the dining room to have dinner. Rylee was quiet and didn’t even look up at anyone. The whole house seemed quiet and even Preston kept his mouth shut. Hannah glanced at me every now and then but my face told her to not even try to talk to me.
Rylee opened the bathroom door as I stood under the water of the shower. I just wanted to forget today although the conference call had gone smoothly, better than I could have hoped it would and I felt slightly better than I did.
“Lucas,” she called out.
“Are you stalking me in the shower now?” I asked her.
“We should talk about this afternoon,” she said.
“The part where you mentioned putting nothing on for me?” I asked her.
“How can you think about sex at a time like this?” she asked me.
“Well you’re the one that followed me in here,” I said as I opened the shower door and looked at her.
“Geez Lucas, cover yourself at least,” she said as she averted her eyes.
“You’re shy now?” I asked her as I grabbed a towel.
I followed her into the bedroom having just wrapped the towel around my waist, water still dripping down me. I sat down on the sofa and waited patiently for her. She sat down next to me on the sofa and took a deep breath.
“You should just hand me over,” she said.
“Not a fucking chance,” I said to her.
“Lucas, exile is not something you want,” she said.
“Rylee, just trust me on this, you’re not going anywhere,” I said as I leaned forward with my elbows on my knees.
“They won’t stop,” she said.
“I’m counting on that, now where’s that nothing you promised me?” I asked her.
“Lucas! This is serious,” she said as she stood up.
“If I were you I’d run because when I catch you you’re going to be sorry,” I said to her.
“You’re an asshole, at least give me a chance to shower,” she said and I sat back.
“Make it quick or I’m following you inside,” I said as she stared at me and then went to the bathroom.
Rylee exited the bathroom ten minutes later as I stood with my back to the room looking out of the window. I was on the phone with Jasper and I had put sweat pants on. She pressed herself against my back and her hands slid around my waist and into the top of my sweat pants.
“I’ll have to call you back Jasper,” I said as her hand went lower and I ended the phone call.
I turned around and picked her up as I walked to the bed. She really was wearing nothing and I tugged the sweat pants off as I fell on top of her. She pushed me down on my back and straddled me.
“Tell me what you want,” she whispered.
