I wondered why my uncle scheduled a meeting without telling me about it, perhaps it slipped of his mind, I decided to put a call to him, to ask him about the meeting,I dialed his cell phone number three times, but the voicemail informed me that he was on another call, and could connect to my own.
I was running out of patience but I waited still,so that I could speak to my uncle at the meeting, luckily he ended the call and called back.
"Hello uncle,good day"I greeted him.
"Hi Erica,"Yes, how are you doing, it is obvious you are exhausted because of the previous date or whatever you were with the doctor yesterday" My uncle said .
"Uncle Anthonio, doctor Albert and I only went for a date, but that is not the way .I called you. I was informed that you scheduled a meeting of the company board and staff today , is that true?' I asked him.
"Yeah, that is true,and who told you about it." He asked me.
I wanted to feel angry with my uncle but I let it go because I loved that he has my good interest at heart.
" Whoever that told me, is not the iI was wondering why I was not informed of the meeting?" He said to him,
"I just thought maybe it was needlessly disturbing you over a little meeting" He told me.
"That is okay, uncle, what is the agenda of the meeting?" I asked him.
After hearing that he did not just want to disturb me that was his reason for not informing me about the meeting that wants to place in my father's company I felt relieved knowing that everything is fine and it was just a mere meeting. I just felt that I should be there for the meeting if not for any other reason at least to start learning the pros of the company so that when is finally handed over to me it will not be a challenge handling the fairs..
My uncle does not have a first hand knowledge of how to run a company because all this while that Ihave known him, he has not worked with any company at all.
ANTHONIO'S POV
Discovering that someone gave Erica information about the meeting pissed me off, who could have told her about the meeting, even though I did not have much things to discuss at the meeting, I just wanted to keep in track everything that goes on in the company and to make sure that I am aware of every move, I had not told America about the meeting because I did not want her to be part of it,more make friends with the company's staff.,I did not want to learn anything. Of what use is her knowledge of her dad's business when I am here already to claim it.
I checked the time of my wrist watch and I discovered it was already time for the meeting. I dropped the glass of Brandy I had in my hands and went upstairs to my room to get dressed.
I picked a nest black suit and pants to match. I have not being the corporate type of person but I need to start adjusting to my new status gradually. I smiled to myself. SoonI i'll be addressing a lot of people especially men of timber and caliber.
I left for the office after dressing up and making sure I was good to go. The drive only way to the company was such a very smooth one, the road was free and there were not much commuters on the road,except for man who wants to break the rear mirror of my car. I just had to ignore him and continues going where I was going.
I thought about my decision of not letting Erica into the affairs of the company. I felt it would be a bad idea to let her Know, at least to make her feel comfortable and around me and would not think I do no have her interest at heart. It will be better to keep involving her but I woury make sure her opinions and decisions over matters are not accepted without my consent..
'Let me go there I keep these freaking workers on their feet, they had better not mess up with me' I muttered to myself.
It will really be good if they know the kind of person they will be dealing with henceforth,I am not as soft as my brother Tyler, I will handle anyone who tries to mess up with me or who fails to listen to my instructions with a strong hand.
I got into the Company and found out there were not many activities going on there.I wonder why the workers have been up in doing their jobs, probably because they feel because their boss Tyler has not been around. Now the new boss is here, I looked around the company smiling to myself.
My brother Tyler's company has been a very big and strong establishment with a great number of staff, at a time he had wanted to incorporate it with so many other companies but I had convinced him not to. It is better to be sold as the owner of the establishment, he can just be the owner while others can be shareholders which he agreed to..
My brother really had taste for things, the company was tastefully furnished with the best furniture in the world.
While I was busy looking around ,I didn't even notice that there was the receptionist looking at me. I only got to know when she answered a call from the Telecom. A young pretty lady in her mid twenties sat behind the reception desk.
"Hello good day" I greeted her.
"Good day sir, how may I help you?" She asked me , obviously she does not recognize me.
"I am Anthonio Woods, I am the brother of your boss Tyler.
"Oh really sir, then I guess you must have been the person that arranged for the meeting scheduled to hold today" She said.
"Yes, I am," I told her.
"And how is Sir Tyler fairing?" She asked me with concern in her face.
"This way sir, I already had the board room set,soon the whole of the board members will be here, and I have also sent mails to the staff". She said pointed to a enclosed room
"Thank you" I said to her and processed to the board room.
The boardroom is one of the best I have seen in recent days. The items there were very powerful and good tools . I admired everything there.
Few minutes later the board members started coming into the large conference room , they had their private computers with them, some of them came in with someone, perhaps that could be their secretary not personal assistant, I would not know.
They came in and greeted me, we shook hands and discussed a Little outside business while we waited for the rest of the people to arrive, I remember I had met some of the people here on one or two business occasion I had attended with Tyler.
Most of them were my brother's friends, they usually attended the same tennis club. Some of them were able to recognize me , while some could not, well I do not blame them since it had being a long time, moreso I do have any business with them except for thighs.
I spoke at length with some of them, we giggled and talked about so many things excluding the matter of the day.
The ones who were very much my brother's friends asked after him and told me to send him their heartfelt greeting. I promised them I will send Tyler their regards
I wondered what could have the workers this long from joining the meeting. I used the intercom in the conference room and industry the reception to either send them another mail, or send someone to go inform them that it was time for the next already.
"I am sorry sir for the delay, I have sent another mail to them, I guess they are busy and will be able to join soon, kindly be a kitty more patient." She explained.
Few minutes later,the workers started coming in to the conference room. At them they were all cited, there were quite number of workers. 'So this are the people my brother pays salaries? I was shocked at the number of staff the company has.
When they were all cited, I briefly introduced myself, some of them already knew me while some got to meet me for the very first time.
I also gave them the opportunity to introduce themselves. I was more interested in meeting those in charge of accounts and finance that was the reason I gave them the chance to make a brief introduction about themsey and the position they are working. After their introduction I proceeded with the meeting...
