Chapter 9

My dad loved my mum so much and I know it will be a bit difficult for him to adjust to living without her. He kept on smiling to list the things I said. I was happy to see those smiles on my dads face once more.I equally told him about the email I have received from my aspiring school. I promised him, not to fail and not disappoint him.
After talking with my dad for a little longer, I told the doctor we could go back to his office to discuss more about everything including payments of bills. The doctor sat behind? his office table while he offered me a seat .
?Doctor Albert told me that even my dad left the hospital, that it will take some time before he could recover fully. I told him I will be traveling in about two weeks time, that I did not know what to do with my dad when I am away.
"Hey doctor, I have got some issues up my sleeve" I said.
"What is it, feel free to share with me, you know what they say about a problem shared" I replied.
"I will be leaving for my studies in about two weeks time and I dont know what I would do with my dad"? I said ,the worry I feel could be noticed in my voice and face. Honestly I do not know what exactly I am going to do about taking care of my dad. As much as I would not like to miss my school at the same time I want my dad to be properly taken care of to aid his recovery while I am away.
"That is not a problem, it is not something to worry about". Doctor Albert said with a smile on his face.
"Are you sure,so what do I have to do?" I asked him with a surprise on my face
"There is an organization that takes care of sick people and the age,more like an old peoples home,all you need to do is to take your dad there, you will be sending them a designated out of money every month that is all." He said.
"Oh really,that is a very good idea,but then my worry is if they will take very?
good care of my dad," I expressed my concern.
"You do not have to worry about that, they came highly recommended, I would introduce something that will not be of benefit to you of course." He said, trying to convince me.
Deep down my heart I was glad I have partially resolved the issue of where to take my dad when he leaves the hospital so that I can go face my studies.
?I noticed the doctor was busy staring at me non stop, I became uncomfortable and worried,I looked at myself Tobe sure my dress was in order,but of course my dress was perfect, so why then is he staring at me without even a blink.
"I must confess Ericas,you look very beautiful." He mustered courage to speak after some minutes of stare.
I became surprised and? did not know what exactly to say to him, I was not expecting that from him, honestly I did not see it coming, doctor Albert himself is also a cute and charming to young man, but I dare not say that aloud, because I would not want to sound crazy or look like a flirt.
"Thank you doctor, I appreciate your compliment." I said to him trying not to look directly to his face?
He was still staring at me, I could not help it. I decided to change the topic of discussion.
"So tell me doctor,how long have you been practicing and what is your biggest challenge as a doctor", I asked him.
"Well I have been practicing for more than 8 years now and so far I dont have the biggest challenge, " he answered.
*Oh really, that is really good, it means you are good at what you do. I am very glad to hear that".
We both spoke for some more minutes, we talked severally about lots of things including, he also informed me that he Ill be expanding his hospital sooner, and also employ more capable hands to work with him, so that most of his vision for setting up the hospital in the first place will all be achieved.
I was really impressed to see such a cute and young doctor so intelligent and filled with wisdom. He is the dream of every woman. A man who is loving, romantic and also intelligent would not be a bad idea after all.
Sitting and discussing with doctor Albert reminded me of the decision and ultimatum my dad had given me to bring a man before the company could be handed over to me, I did not know what to do, I was still worried with my dads decision, finding a man, is not going to be an easy task.
Most especially finding true love is going to be a big task because one doesnt not force love to happen ,it is a natural phenomenon.
There was a knock on the doctors door, and he asked the person to come in, the same receptionist I had met earlier on that refused me entrance to the ward where my dad was coming in. She greeted the doctor and looked at me in an unusual way.
"Hi doctor,I brought some patient files for you to sign and document." She said placing some Heep of files on the doctor Albert table.
"Is there file tbat needs my urgent attention?" Doctor Albert asked him.
"None doctor, I have instructed the nurses to attend to them already, it needs to be signed by you" She answered.
"Okay then, thank you" Doctor Albert replied and she left.
Immediately she left, I decided to tell the doctor about my experience with her the moment I got here earlier on.
I told him of the nonchalant attitude she displayed when I wanted to see my dad. Doctor Albert smiled and I was wondering why he could laugh at such an attitude from his staff.
"Hey doctor, I just told you about your staffs attitude and all you could do is laugh. " I asked him lightly.
"I am sorry Erica, but I think I know why she acted like that towards you." He answered, still laughing.
"Um, this is more serious than I thought so tell me why she did that?" I asked him, already curious to hear the answer from him.
"Jully here, wants us to be in a relationship but I turned her down, I mean I cant be having something with staff you know, I do not compromise my job for anything not even personal pleasure". He told me.
I was impressed with what he just said but I do not see it relating to why she acted cold towards me when she barely knows me.
"That is good doctor Albert but I am sorry,I do not see your answer relating to her attitude towards me" O told him.
"Well she does that to any lady she sees around me or that she feels and I am getting close to, perhaps she might have seen us together on one or two occasions and might feel we have something going on between us." He said.
I was shocked to hear that from him, what makes her think I am a threath to whatever feelings she might have for the doctor.
"Oh my goodness!" I exclaimed and burst into laughter., I controlled my laughter, but it was really funny for someone to think that I had something going with the doctor just by seeing us standing together discussing.
"So you see the reason why I laughed, you are also laughing right now, are you not?" Doctor Albert asked me.
well it is funny though, but on a serious note you have relieve her from her duties, she can not go around thinking that every female that comes here came to flirt with you , for crying out loud this is a health organization and you honestly do not need someone scaring your guests and patients away with her insecurities".
?I told him, still trying to control my laughter, we really had a good laugh, he told me more funny things that have happened in the hospital in the past and we could not help but laugh out loud.
I reminded him, he was still in his office so we should be careful of how to laugh and joke, he told me ,he was on his lunch break, so he is free to joke and play a bit since I was around.
I discussed business with him and some office modalities of operations. He listened with keen intentions.
"Wow Erica, I am intrigued by your intelligence, you are not just pretty,you are equally smart." He said.
"Thank you" I said to him smiling.
"Please can I ask you for a favour, please do not say no to what I am about to request." He asked me gently.
"What is it doctor?"...
