Chapter 33

I stood there looking at Albert for minutes, I didn't know what to do. I was not expecting him to propose to me so soon, even though he loves me and I love him too, I still felt everything was happening way too fast. He has been a cool and nice gentle man, and there is no doubt about it, he is a very nice guy to be with. Every girl would want to have a life partner.
There was cheering and clapping from the guests in the background. Everyone was urging me to go accept his proposal. The guests seemed to be happy with what they were witnessing, it looked like they were part of the arrangements to have me engaged to Albert because they acted so lovely.
Everyone's gaze was on me, I became the spotlight of the occasion as everyone looked to see , know and hear what my answer would be.
The whole moment, I felt like I was in wonderland. It felt like a fairy tale.
He was still kneeling, waiting for me to give him an answer. Looking into my eyes and expecting an answer from me, I know that whatever answer I give to him right now, will neither make him very happy nor dash his hopes. If I give him an answer that is not palatable,it might break his heart completely.
Everything seems to be happening faster than I ever expected..
I could not get myself to believe that I could be engaged anytime soon. A few months back I did not even have a boyfriend but right now everything is about to change. Albert came into my life and has changed everything for the better.
I looked him in the face, I stretched my hand forward and allowed him to slide the ring to the finger.
"Yes,yes, Albert, I will marry you," I answered him.
I beamed with smiles.
There were lots of shouts of happiness from the guests, everyone seemed to be very happy.

We both held hands together and danced. Albert and I were not perfect dancers ,we continued to try our best and moved our body to the rhythm of the music. What is more important is that we are both in each other's arms and we love each other.
So many people at the party came forward to congratulate me, I was filled with smiles all through the event. The people even though of their rich status seemed very welcoming, perhaps because they knew I belonged to the high class as well.
Finally the party came to an end,it was such a wonderful one, I had so much fun, I haven't had this fun for a very long time now. I can not even remember the last time I had this kind of fun-filled party. All the parties I have been attending were with my parents. I used to be very careful and cautious as one under the prying eyes of her parents. In those parties, I would just have to stand or sit sipping my drink till the party's over.
All thanks to sweet heart 'Albert'.
"Hey love, it is time for us to go home now," Albert said.
"Yeah,I have heard more than enough fun today," thank you for this.
"You are welcome dear, you know I can do anything for you," he said.
We headed to where the car was packed, on our way home we talked about the party, he told me how his friends and colleagues kept congratulating him and kept saying that I was so beautiful. He felt on top of the world. We continued to laugh at some of the things we discussed, our voices of laughter fitted into the night, the streets were less busy as so many people had retired to their respective homes . It made the ride so free and quite lovely. I wished we could continue, I wished the night should not end ,I wished we could go on and keep driving in this cool weather as everywhere became so peaceful and very calm, except for few people who were still on the road for one reason or another or those returning home from a day well spent just like Albert and I. He brought me back to the house while he went back to his own house.
Leaning forward he kissed me
"Good night baby", he said.
I went into the house, as soon as I got into my room, I looked at the ring Albert gave to me. It was such a beautiful ring, I was overly joyful. I went into the bathroom to have a bath, as I was already tired from partying. I got into the bathtub, I allowed the water to fill the whole of me.
My mind was filled with the events that happened, how my life turned from the sorrow of losing my parents to this stage of falling in love with the most cute and loving man. And now, I am already engaged to him, engaged to the love of my life. I was happy with my new status,I was happy that finally I had found love and I found it with the right person. Someone whom my heart,soul and body completely accepts. And I am ready to walk down this road of love with him.
Everything seems to have taken a whole lot of different directions and it is really turning out great for me. The things that have happened recently, I would not have believed that I could move on so fast, I could not believe that I could get everything that I wanted so fast. I thought my life was going to be on hold since my parents are no longer around to make my life what it used to be. Now my prince charming is here to make me feel loved again,to make known what it means to be cared for.
I finished taking my bath and got back into the room. I heard my phone beeping. I checked and it was a missed call from my uncle. He had called while I was in the bathroom.
I returned his call immediately.
"Hey Uncle sorry I missed your call," I said.
"Erica what is this I hear about you," he asked me.
"What did you hear uncle," I asked him.
"I heard that you and Albert are now engaged," he said
"Oh,well that is the truth uncle, Albert and I are dating, he proposed to me today and I accepted his proposal," I told him.
" You can't be serious, so after I told you not to date that guy, you still push through with it," he said angrily.
"Uncle, Albert has done no wrong, why should I punish him for something I know nothing about,he has proven to be a lovely man,so I don't understand why you are always asking me to leave him alone,"
"You should listen to me because I am your uncle," he demanded.
"Uncle, but I am human too, I love Albert and no one is going to stop me from marrying him," I told him.
My uncle dropped the uncle since he was not able to convince me to let go of Albert. I do not seem to understand why he would tell me to leave someone I love so much without a reason.
Soon I would be leaving for school and at least my uncle would be seeing me around so I might have the freedom to do what makes me happy without having to explain to anyone what I will be doing, why I will be doing it nor how I will be doing it. I would just concentrate and have my own way.
I slipped into my night wear and went to sleep
ANTHONIO'S POV
It was obvious to me that it would really be difficult trying to convince Erica to cut ties with doctor Albert, she seemed so engrossed in love with him. My efforts into making them stay apart is looking fruitless.
It would be better if I Look for another plan that will really work out well.
This Albert wants to change everything I have worked so hard for.
I called one of my informants in the company to give me the news of what was happening there and to my surprise he told me that Erica had come there to meet with the board.
"What!"
I couldn't not believe what I just heard, Erica actually went to the office to have herself introduced to the company without even informing, perhaps I have been a bone in her neck recently. So I would rephrase my steps and win her trust and loyalty once again.
I was going to allow her to date Albert but I will look for a way to damage their relationship and make it hit the rocks.
