❤️Valentine's Day Bonus: Valentine forever
**Damon**
*Everything had to be absolutely perfect today!* This was the only thing playing in my mind, over and over again as we drove down to the destination of my Valentine's Day gift. I'd spent most of yesterday and this morning organising everything which was easier than I expected, especially since Jasmine had spent most of the morning sleeping like the dead. The hardest part about everything was Jasmine's patience which had now run thin.
"Are we there yet?" She whined out for about the hundredth time.
"Almost, Jasmine. If you could please, try to be patient."
The reason for Jasmine's impatience was not so much regarding where I was taking her, but what she could do when we arrived at our destination. I'd made her promise to only give me her gift once we'd arrived.
"I *am* being patient!" She huffed and then pouted before turning towards the window and staring out of it. I chuckled quietly to myself and continued to drive on.
It took another few minutes before the outline of the ocean finally appeared, staining the horizon in a darker shade of blue.
"The sea?" Jasmine questioned, as her eyes gazed at the sandy shores of the beach outside of her window. "Are we going swimming? I haven't brought my clothing."
"No, we are not going swimming. We're doing something even better... your favourite thing to do." I uttered out with a soft little chuckle at the end.
She turned towards me and her eyes widened in excitement before she yelled out, "Eating!"
I nodded and then began parking my car into the beach parking lot. Thereafter, I got out, went around to Jasmine's side of the car and held a hand out for her as she exited the vehicle. Hand-in-hand, we began walking along the shore of the beach towards a seamless cobblestone paved off area in the distance. The strong scent of seawater and the lull of the waves crashing against the shore were enough to make us both fall silent as we relished in the natural beauty of the ocean.
Once we'd made it, Jasmine's jaw practically dropped as she gazed at the sight in front of her. A table set with all of her favourite foods from crumbed chicken smothered in cheese, garlic bread, pigs in a blanket and of course, French fries. To the dessert section was a bowl of her favourite fruit and the two giant slices of cake I'd bought the previous day. All of this lay delicately under a large wooden canopy, laced with thick jasmine vines which spiraled along the branchy, wooden poles and littered here and there with beautiful red roses, some of which, had also been placed on the table as decoration.
"Oh my God... did you do all this?" She uttered out breathlessly.
I smiled and nodded, "Believe it or not, yes. It took me ages, but the expression on your face tells me that it was more than worth it."
She laughed and then placed a gentle kiss on my cheek, before taking my hand in hers and dragging me towards the table. We were seated in seconds, with Jasmine already looking like a rabid beast, plagued with her hunger.
"I can't believe it..." She uttered after swallowing a piece of chicken, "it's so beautiful."
"I'm glad you think so," I said, and then reached for her hand. Immediately, she shot me a gentle smile, and for a moment, I was caught off guard by the beauty it radiated. As the edges of her lips raised, beautiful little wrinkles appeared on the sides of her eyes, her cheeks perked up and the tiniest little dimple formed on the side of her cheek. For a moment, I just stared at her, engrossed in the subtle little details of her face.
"What's wrong?" She uttered, quite concerned.
"N-nothing. It's just... you're beautiful." I said.
She blushed and smirked before saying, "Speaking of beautiful things, can I now give you my present?"
I nodded, curious as to what she'd gotten me. She'd been itching to give it to me the entire day.
From her bag, she retrieved a beautiful silver box and then handed it to me. I ran my hands against the box, feeling the smoothness of it beneath my fingers, and then slowly, I began opening it. When the lid was removed, I stared down at the beautiful platinum chain. An intricately designed key hung from it, and when I inspected it closer, I saw the word "Mine" engraved onto it. Immediately a smile made its way onto my face and I looked up at Jasmine to see her holding a similar chain. The only difference was that a delicate heart charm hung from hers.
"You're the only person with the key to it," She uttered lowly. Her cheeks were blazing red and she refused to look up at me. I found it absolutely adorable and leaned in and placed a peck against the skin of her cheek before saying, "It's beautiful Jasmine. I'll never take it off or disregard it. I love you."
She then finally looked back up at me and made a cute little chuckle before saying, "That's not the best part."
She took the box from me and got off of her chair before walking around and then to the back of me. Slowly she removed the chain from the box and ever so gently, she began placing it around my neck. When she had finished clasping the back of it, she placed her own chain around her neck and then gently took the charm of my chain and brought it to a small lock at the bottom of her own heart charm. Once she'd unlocked it, the heart split open, revealing a small photograph of the two of us.
"The two people I love most." She uttered.
The entire concept was just so mind-blowing I couldn't help but grab her and wrap my arms around her body before placing a sweet little peck on her soft lips.
"Honestly Jasmine, who said you could make me fall even more in love with you?" I mumbled.
She smirked, placed her hands on the side of my face and then placed her lips on mine, kissing me more deeply. I savoured the feeling of it all, knowing that what I was about to do could either shatter this bond we had or make it stronger.
"Now why don't you finish eating. I still haven't given you my gift." I whispered as we parted.
She stared down at me, confused and then asked, "Wasn't all this your gift? What more could you have gotten me?"
"Patience, my love." I said.
She huffed, clearly not one to be patient and then got back to her seat and carried on devouring her food. I couldn't really concentrate on mine though as the fresh and potent feeling of nervousness began to creep over me.
"Are you alright Damon?" Jasmine asked after wiping the edges of her mouth with a serviette.
It snapped me out of my little thoughts. "Oh, yes. Why?"
"You've been forking at that piece of chicken for the last few minutes. Are you sure?" She asked, now taking a closer look at me.
I smiled at her reassuringly and then nodded. "Yes. And now I think it's time for dessert."
She clapped her hands and nodded happily. I got up from my seat and began placing two saucers before me. On Jasmine's, I carefully placed an extremely small red folded piece of paper on the surface of the plate. Thereafter, I cut pieces of both chocolate and red velvet cake and placed them neatly on the note, taking special care to conceal it well. I handed the plate to Jasmine and, after cutting cake for myself, took my seat across from her. But not once did I even dare to take a bite. Instead, I watched Jasmine in absolute anguish as she enjoyed every single spoon of her cake. And then suddenly, she froze, and so did I. She placed her fork down on the table next to her plate and the picked up the red piece of paper.
She glanced at me for a second and then back at the folded piece of paper before asking, "What's this?"
"Open it," I uttered, slowly getting up off of my chair and taking my place next to her. She opened the piece of paper carefully and then began reading out loud, "Will you be my Valentine forever?"
With that I knelt down on one knee, removed the small box from the pocket of my trousers and held it up, taking care to open it swiftly, without knocking the ring off.
"Damon, what's this supposed to-" But she was cut off when her eyes met the ring which sat in the little box I held up.
I was beyond nervous and took a deep breath before saying, "We've known each other for a really long time now. I can't even begin to fathom living tomorrow or the day after, or the day after... or even forever, without you. You've taught me how to laugh again, how to smile again and most importantly, you've taught me how to love not only you, but myself as well. Life will have its ups and downs, but I'm asking you now, humbly and on one knee, will you go through those ups and downs with me? Will you marry me Jasmine and be by my side even after we die?"
I was shaking, literally shaking, but I kept on telling myself to calm down, over and over again. Jasmine, however, was not doing anything to help me feel less afraid. She just stared at the ring with her eyes widened and her shocked expression frozen on her face. Was this the wrong choice? We'd spoken about marriage a few times before and although she was reluctant in the beginning, she seemed to begin to grow fond of the idea... unless I'd misjudged every one of our marriage conversations.
A full ten minutes had gone by and, reluctantly, I began to ask, "So... what's your answer Jasmine."
"A wedding proposal!" She whispered out. "A fucking *wedding* proposal."
And that was where I began wishing the Earth would swallow me whole... until-
"How the hell was I ever going to top a wedding proposal? Why the hell did I not think of it!" She uttered to herself.
"So, is that a no or-"
Her frustrated expression began softening and soon a beautiful smile made its way onto her face before she uttered out excitedly, "Yes! It's a yes Damon. I will marry you." She then held her hand out for me and I stared at it for a moment, unable to believe that she'd actually agreed. Then, with shaky fingers, I began removing the beautiful diamond ring from the box and placed it gently on her finger. She giggled excitedly and, once the ring was on her finger, I got up from my knelt position on the floor, and pulled her towards me, embracing her tightly against my body before lifting her off of her feet and kissing her.
Now our little forever would be sealed with an unbreakable vow.
