Chapter 38

FRANKIE'S POV
Do something wrong, anything at all and they'd tag you a freak in Oxford Oaks, add two siblings who had strange weird blue eyes just like yourself, a mother that doesn't know how to lie properly, and the icing on the cake, an absent father and you've succeeded in earning yourself the title, freak show. My name is Franklin Swift, I am officially Oxford Oaks' freak show and I hate middle school more than anything.
I think one of the challenges I've had to face in my 10 years of being on this unforgiving earth was being born with two others. No, don't get me wrong, having lookalikes is nice, it's like having your own minions. Besides, i was the eldest, even if it was by a few minutes, we can't cheat nature, I am the eldest of the Swift's triplets.
Unlike my proteges, which I think fate was just being a bitch, I had a lower IQ. Yeah, yeah, big words but hear me out, we all have the same things. I mean, we have the same blue eyes, the same smiles, the same everything except genitals though, Maddie is a girl. But get me point here, I wasn't dumb, I just wasn't as smart as my siblings and you can't imagine how much it sucks.
It was really annoying to be so smart yet fail the simple stuff you know, it really made me question way too much about myself. Asides mathematics, which gives me hope by the way, I pretty much was bad at everything. They say it gets worse at puberty and to be honest, I was ready to skip the whole process if I could.
RECAP
'You shouldn't listen to what they say, Frankie. Luke is just a jerk" I whirled around to find my mum's best friend's daughter, Stacey standing in the hallway next to my locker. Stacey was the only one that had little access to me and it wasn't as bad as everyone painted it out to be, for real.
The boys would call what we both had, Ganging, but I felt we were just victims of circumstances and nothing brings two people together as well as shared trauma does. With Danny and Maddie a class ahead of me due to circumstances I could have avoided, I had landed my ass in Stacey's class.
I placed the books I had used in the previous class into my locker and took out my gym clothes grudgingly. There wasn't activity I hated in the school as much as going to the gym but I wasn't the one who made the rules and I couldn't change them even if I wanted to do so badly, it was very annoying.
I felt the shove strongly before I saw the person, 'Watch your feet, Swift. Are your glass eyes not working today?" A kid stood towering above me accompanied by two other kids. Along with my gym clothes, I had crashed to the ground face down.
Stacey rushed to my side to help me get up but I waved her off, I was already embarrassed and probably sore, I may had hit my nose when I landed. The kid cooed in mockery and placed his foot on my gym clothes as I scrambled to pick them off the ground and the other two started laughing uncontrollably.
After about two minutes of toying with me who was still on the floor, they were satisfied and left but not without leaving their footprints on my uniform, literally. I don't think you need me to tell you why I hate Oxford Oaks middle school at this point, that was one of the reasons though, just in case. But do well to stick with me, it gets worse from here on out.
PRESENT DAY
Ever since Jay Harley came to the house, mum had been acting stranger than usual and it gets annoying. You would think there's nothing going on between them like she had been saying but it was weird that she had been trying too hard to convince us.
My life had taken a turn with Jay Harley's arrival in Los Angeles and the fact that he had come to our place? Was way more than adding icing on the cake, it was the whole damn cake.
'Aren't you going to tell your mum about the principal?" Stacey's voice evaded my thoughts with a question I had heard over a thousand times in less than twenty four hours, as I was busy packing up the toys Ken Jr had spilled on the floor. Saturdays were usually associated with cleanings that we never ever actually went through with till the end but were always mandatory. Parenting is weird you know and honestly, mum sucked at it.
I had had a run in with the principal the other day at school and Stacey being the good girl she is had been trying to get me to talk to my mum about it. It was pointless though, she wouldn't understand why I had done what I did.
Middle school dares are almost like those dares at those 18+ parties, you would most likely not want to engage in most of them but you weren't left with much of a choice. It was either you did what you were told to or you pummel rapidly down the well of reject and isolation. Luke usually calls it, a fall from grace.
I ignored Stacey's question mostly because it was getting pretty annoying and because I had no idea how I was going to get the message across to my mum who if I was being honest was more of the other twos mum.
Amber Swift wasn't really a fan of mine and I mostly never do anything right with her, she was definitely going to flip when she finds out what had happened in the gym. But knowing Mr Sterling, he might have spoken to one of the two about it and it would most likely to get mum's ears. I wasn't worried about her reaction, my worry was about my reputation, it wasn't like I had a good one to start with.
