Chapter 94

JAY'S POV
As much as I'd rather do anything at all but communicate with my so called siblings, I was stuck with them and Peter, Peter was just a plain pain in the left butt cheek.
'Is anything the matter?" I asked as he kept staring at me in silence. Hadn't he approached the car because he wanted to say something?
'Oh" Peter blurted out like he had just remembered he was supposed to say something. 'I wanted to ask if you'd be attending the meeting at the office today" he smiled but it wasn't convincing.
I frowned slightly, 'The meeting wouldn't hold if I'm not there, Peter" I answered a little bit too harshly than I had intended to but it didn't matter. I was having a bad day already, why act like I wasn't?
I watched him flinch a bit then smiled suddenly, 'I keep forgetting you're the boss" he replied softly followed by a slight bump on my arm. 'Drive safely then. Bye" the statement was directed at Noah but he was looking at me when he had said it.
'Thank.." My words caught in my throat as he turned and disappeared around the corner probably heading back to the Cafe.
Noah sighed loudly, 'What was that all about?" He asked the exact same question that was swirling around in my head. What had that been about?
'Don't give me that look, you didn't tell me you didn't want black coffee" I said pointedly as I turned my attention back to the landscape I was viewing from the window as Noah kept on sulking as he drove to the company. I had thought butlers only drank black coffee, who knew mine was a princess by heart and just a meanie in appearance?
Noah glared at me, 'You should have asked!" His whining voice was so hilarious I couldn't help but laugh. I was rewarded with a deeper glare, it wasn't actually my fault. Why didn't he tell me what he wanted? I usually didn't use to tell him what I wanted and he always got it right.
'Because I am supposed to know everything about you, Jay. That's my fucking job" Noah responded with a glare so intense I was worried he was going to drive me over a hill. It was just coffee and besides, there was coffee back at the organization. It wasn't as good as Alfred's but wasn't coffee, coffee?
'Don't even ask me such a question" Noah answered in an angry tone and I needn't had to see his face to know I had voiced my thoughts out loud and probably made him more pissed than he already was. I knew apologizes wasn't going to cut it so I took the next logical approach.
I shifted my attention from the window to Noah, 'Let's go back" I muttered as I picked up my phone and texted Davis to start the meeting without me. Noah's face was filled with both confusion, doubt and underlining excitement.
'Do you need something else, Sir?" His tone was different as he asked the question and i knew he was testing the waters before he happily jumped into it. It wasn't just any regular person that took the role of a butler in a person's life.
All I had to do was nod my head to show my approval and not even up to Five minutes later, we had returned to Alfred's. Not willing to make the same mistake like the first time, Noah excused himself and went ahead to get the coffee by himself. I leaned deeper into the seat and dialed Amber's number.
'Hey" she said as soon as she answered the call. I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face, she had picked up the call on the first ring like she had been expecting it and it felt good. I wasn't going to admit it to her but it made me feel all giddy with butterflies in my stomach. I wasn't used to feeling butterflies, it was a very nice feeling.
Masking my feelings, I answered curtly, 'Hey" I could almost see her roll her eyes but it felt good altogether. Love was like this? Why didn't anyone tell me about it sooner?
'I've been waiting for 12 but it seems like time is messing with me" I heard her say but I could also hear background noises. It sounded like she was somewhere and I wanted to ask where she was but I remembered she worked at a convenience store. Even though I hadn't been to one in a long time, I still remembered how noisy it usually was.
Pulling my mind back to the conversation, my voice came out more hoarse than I had intended, 'Time seems to be messing with me too" I quickly agreed and then cleared my throat, 'Don't worry about it though, the meeting will start soon that's if Davis haven't started without me" I chuckled slightly.
'Aren't you supposed to be there before they start anything?"
'Yes, I am the boss anyways but I've given him the go ahead. There's no use waiting for me, besides, I still don't understand much of what is going on over there"
'You're still the boss nonetheless, they should wait for you"
'Well, I don't really..." I stopped short as Noah opened the car's door and sat down. Dropping two packs of what I presumed was doughnuts and handing one over to me, he started the car. Realizing I was still on the call with Amber, I quickly apologized and promised to fill her in on how the meeting went when she came around.
Noah's eyes met mine as I lifted my head up after placing the phone in my suit pocket. I knew the look he gave whenever he wanted to say something I wouldn't like but I also knew I had butterflies in my stomach and nothing he was going to say would ruin my mood. I thought wrong.
