Chapter 93

FRANKIE'S POV
It had taken over 10 minutes of explaining why I needed to follow Stacey to her appointment with the therapist and then another extra five minutes for mum to convince Aunt Mel to allow me tag along.
In the end, the decision was up to Stacey and without hesitation, she had agreed to my proposal. She even went as far as suggesting I didn't just go with her to the appointment but sit with her through it.
'Besides" she had said as the phone got handed to her, 'There isn't anything I'd be saying to the therapist lady that you don't know about. And I need you there with me" I heard the desperation in her voice and it actually matched what I was feeling also.
Pausing for effect, I replied, 'Anything for my lady" I couldn't see the smile on her face but I heard it in her voice.
'Thank you, Sire Franklin. You're so kind" she had responded with a little giggle. I was very sure Aunt Mel's expression was the same as my mum's but it didn't matter to me. Stacey was going to be alright, I would make sure of that.
'If you're done being all lovey dovey, I'd like to let you know it's way past your bedtime" Mum spoke behind me, interrupting the story I was telling Stacey on the phone. Spending quite enough time with her had proven to be useful because as cringe as I thought romantic medieval stories were, Stacey was a huge fan of them.
We had been talking for over five minutes and as surprising as it was, our parents had left us to hold our strange conversation. I knew it was way past both our bedtimes but there are some perks to being sick after all.
I knew I had exceeded my bundle but I made another attempt, using my blue eyes to my advantage, 'Just five more minutes, mum. I'll hang up soon" I looked at her pleadingly with puppy eyes. I watched the shift in her eyes before she smiled softly,
'Alright, just five minutes" she wasn't successful in hiding the gladness in her voice. My relationship with my mum had been very rocky, very very rocky but it was mostly because of her inability to sense the obvious things.
Even though I was successful in getting extra time to talk to Stacey, I felt bad for my mum. My actions might have pushed her to believe she had a sort of leverage with me. She must have been thinking she had starting breaking the ice between us but I knew it was nowhere near any of those things.
The only chance she had at redemption was if Jay Harley could somehow find our father for us or anything related to him at all. Mum's story would have been easy to believe if it didn't sound completely made up. Maddie had given us a pep talk in regards to why mum could be lying about the whole wE dOnt have a Father propaganda.
Shuffling between Mum's story and Maddie's, I would definitely pick Maddie's story, it sounded more plausible than what Mum had told us for years. As much as parents never want their children to grow, we actually do grow faster than they can control.
'Your five minutes are up, Frankie!" Mum's voice rang from upstairs at about the same time I heard Aunt Mel telling Stacey to go to bed. It was way past our five minutes but it had been worth it. From our medieval story, we had moved to the altercations we've had with the bullies the past week and then lastly to the appointment with the therapist.
I could understand her fear, I really could. Fear of the unknown was the worse kind of fear a person could have. Would it end up eating you up or would it just be the exact thing you needed? You would never know and that was why it was the deadliest type of fear.
I couldn't stop thinking about how complicated adult relationships were as Daniel came to pick me up from the house. Ever since mum and Aunt Mel started establishing strange and confusing relationships with Jay Harley and his womanizing friend, Daniel Fletcher, things had been different for everyone.
Do you think I would suddenly take a likeness to Daniel Fletcher cause he had helped Stacey? We all know why he had done what he did. Time changes a lot of things and beauty fades along with it, I won't dispute that fact. But Aunt Melissa was a totally different specimen, totally different entirely. You could never go wrong with brunettes.
'Take care of Stacey and Ken, okay? I'll be back as soon as I can" Aunt Mel had ruffled my hair as I sat close to Ken who was busy playing COD with Danny's clan. Did I mention Danny's clan was the same as his? For people that had complained about us spending way too much time on the phone the previous night, our parents sure didn't take enough safety precautions.
'How do you intend on going about finding your father?" Stacey asked as she sat next to me on the bed that was hers in Daniel's house. I glanced at her and back at my feet I had been swinging.
'I don't" I stopped to clear my throat, 'I don't have anything else in mind asides what Jay had suggested I do" I stopped swinging and laid flat on the bed. Stacey joined me.
'And what is that?" She asked with curiosity written all over her face. Jay Harley had made a suggestion that I think would end up solving all our problems if we applied the right methods.
Smiling at Stacey's beautiful face, I lifted myself from my lying down position and leaned in as if I wanted to whisper my response to Stacey and following my lead, she leaned in too. It wasn't like anyone was going to hear us anyways but what better way to disclose a secret or a plan rather, to a princess than to make it seem ominous?
