Chapter 64

FRANKIE'S POV
To get what you want, you have to be persistent, obstinate and resilient, three words, same meaning. To get what you want or better still, to achieve your set goal, you have to know when to keep pushing and not let giving up be an option even if it made you look like a hopeless romantic or as Maddie would call it 'A fool that doesn't know when to stop being a fool"
I kept on moving from one question to another in an attempt to get Stacey to say something, anything at least but it seemed her walls had been erected once again. Danny was looking at me like I was doing the most absurd thing ever but it didn't matter much to me.
'Do you want me to walk with you to class?" That made no sense, why would she even answer that? We almost always walked to class together. Danny's look seconded my thoughts, it was a stupid question.
I gave another trial, 'Are you feeling okay?" It seemed like a more reasonable question but she didn't answer. Another try wouldn't hurt, so I tried again,
'Do you want me to help you with any..?" I wasn't even given a chance to finish the question when Maddie answered from the front seat of the car,
'Will you give her and all of us a break?!" It was more of a command than a question. Apparently, Danny wasn't the only one that was tired of my questions, he shrugged as I looked at him.
Maddie wasn't done with me, 'Why are you looking at Danny? He'd end up walking with you to school if you don't stop pestering the poor girl!" She almost yelled and I flinched as both Ken Jr and Daniel Fletcher burst into laughter. There was something called a man's pride and my annoying sister knew absolutely nothing about it.
As if she hadn't just disgraced me in front of my princess, Maddie turned and went back to the conversation she was having with Daniel. Danny shot me a sympathetic look and went back to the game he was playing on his iPad. Were we even allowed to take our phones to school? It wasn't technically a phone phone but you get my point.
Maybe a bruise to my pride made Stacey feel pity for me cause at that moment, she whispered, 'I'm fine, Frankie. You can do whatever you want" then she went further to put her hand in mine and wrap her fingers around it. Maybe having an annoying sister isn't so bad after all.
The bell had already rung as Daniel pulled into the school yard, without waiting for a go ahead from Stacey, I grabbed her bag, held her hand as we got out of the car and raced into the school. Danny followed closely behind but it seemed like Maddie was more focused on her crush than her education.
MADDIE'S POV
The look Danny gave me as he got out of the car wasn't pleasant but it also wasn't going to stop me from getting my point across to Daniel Fletcher. Who said a 10 year old couldn't experience love so early in life? If I could experience early puberty, what was stopping me from experiencing early love?
'You're going to be late, Madison. That's if you ain't late already" Daniel was making sense with what he was saying but his amazing lips were moving, that made more sense to be honest. Danny, Stacey and Frankie had raced out of the yard but somehow Ken had ended up waiting by the side of the car for me.
'Take care!" I screamed as Daniel pulled out of the yard, I waited for him to wave goodbye and almost as he completely drove out of the yard, he pulled his hand out the window and waved. I knew he had seen me from the rear view mirror and what did they say about consistency again? Yes, it gets you the man.
I needed that same consistency to get me better grades because I was failing mathematics terribly. Don't even ask why I had a genius in mathematics for a brother and yet still failed woefully. Franklin Gerald Smith was just so awful at tutoring, you'd end up being more confused than convinced.
It wasn't just his tutoring skills that were awful, his ability to get the girl of his dreams was twice as terrible. I knew Frank was the one Stacey had talked about the other day but I wasn't sure, there wasn't proof and the little peanut had been blushing way too much to confirm my suspicions.
Danny looked like he had an idea about it but as long as it doesn't have anything to do with D&D or COD, my big brother (with a few minutes, duh) mostly never involved himself in people's affairs, such a devoted introvert he is. I had decided to trick mum into doing an anime subscription for him as a way to bribe him but fate had other plans for me.
Catching people in the act of doing something they do not want to be seen doing is one of my specialties, if I do say so myself. I hadn't exactly caught them kissing, I wish I had though but I had overheard something I apparently, wasn't supposed to hear.
It wasn't as exciting as catching them kissing but it sure was going to be something that was going to change the course of things. I wasn't exactly the expert in keeping secrets but this wasn't mine to tell. Well, for now, I'd have to step in and do something if they don't reveal the secret soon enough.
