Today's entry 17/08/09
_Dear diary_
This is going to be a short entry cause I have to get my ass to school, it has been a very chaotic morning. I still don't have the full details on what had happened at the Duke's mansion but whatever it is that had transpired between Aunt Mel and her husband, it had extended to the kids this time around.
Then there's mum, what was she thinking driving out into the night like that? What if something had happened to her? Was I allowed to scold her for her impulsive behavior or I was supposed to just let it go since I obviously wasn't the parent?
I know parenting can be hell but the least she could have done was to check in with us before making such a hasty decision. To think the woman can't even see without her glasses at night, it scared me to think something might have happened to her if she hadn't run into Daniel Fletcher at the mansion.
It is really infuriating to be the reasonable one in the family, you know. You get to condone actions you'd rather deal with, with a noose wrapped around their neck as they dangle to their death. Was that too harsh? My bad. Its just perks of being a horror fanatic.
Speaking of horror, I heard they recently released a new conjuring movie and it was just there, I'd probably find a way to convince Stacey to watch it with me, she's the only one with guts. I had gotten carried away just now, Stacey was the main reason I decided to input this entry in the first place.
Ken Duke had always been bad tempered but to go as far as to hit his kids? It was just being plain Maniac, for real. I have a feeling Aunt Mel would eventually pull through with the divorce she had been contemplating, she had all my backing if she needed it.
Besides, she had way more than my backing, and I'm not just talking about mum here. It had to do, just a little bit, with a certain ex basketball player with gorgeous set of eyes that sent tingles down my spine.
Maddiee!!!!!!! Get your ass out here right now!!!!!
The laptop clicked shut as the typist jumped out of her makeshift work desk, a quick glance towards the clock and she hurriedly picked up her bag. They were already over an hour late, there was no way they were going to escape Mr Curtis's punishment. Shit.
DANNY'S POV
I never really think about having my own kids that much but if I do eventually have kids, I would never allow them to go to school with such a bruise. Weren't the adults worried about the children's mental health? Ken might not have been really affected by the altercation but Stacey? She had not even said a word all morning.
If you've ever seen a nerd, you'd know one of our biggest strength, okay, that's in the opposite but anyways, one of the things we did was live most of our lives in our head. There were lonely days, I'd admit but I'd rather be lonely than be worked up but right now, I wasn't left with much of a choice cause Frankie wouldn't stop pestering Stacey.
'Are you alright?"
'Does anywhere hurt?"
'Do you want me to help carry your bags when we get to school?"
'Do you need anything?"
'Do you want me to stop asking questions?"
I couldn't take it anymore, it felt like I was being forced to listen to one of Spotify's sad playlists. It was cute but annoying when excessive. I almost wanted to tell him '
Bro, give it a rest. If she wanted you to do anything, she would have just asked" Almost. Like mum used to say _Nearly doesn't kill a bird_ . She was right, almost never quite did the trick, you know.
Stacey was somehow like Maddie in the whole _speaking your mind_ aspect, they would just blurt out whatever they wanted and I've been envious of them since forever. The only places I had such confidence was in the gallery, D&D meetings and in COD. Scrape those place out, I'm just a nerd, a very very shy nerd.
I seemed like I was the only one that found it weird that Daniel Fletcher had stayed over long enough to drive us to school. Wasn't this the reason everything had happened? The fact that he drove them back home and ended up taking Aunt Mel for a date? Make it make sense. There was absolutely no chance in hell that he didn't know she was a married woman, was there?
I shook my head unconsciously and Maddie gave me a look that was from both concern and curiosity, the look asked different questions that she didn't voice out,
'Are you fine?"
'Should I be worried?"
I smiled as reassuringly as I could and watched as her lips lifted into a smile so similar to mine, you would think it was photocopied. Everything was fine with me, there was nothing going on with me, if you would exclude the Clan battles I had to face after school and the coronation of a new leader in Dungeons and Dragons.
Almost as soon as we arrived at school, Ken clung to me and I knew it wasn't going to be an easy day for any of us, Stacey most especially. But at least she had her trusty bodyguard, would it surprise you to know the main lead usually have a thing for the bodyguard in all those romantic thriller movies? I guess not.
It wasn't surprising to me at least, I had sensed something was going on between them but when you don't have proof, you just act like you didn't see anything. But would accidentally seeing them kiss as they cuddled in the bodyguard's bed in his room stand as substantial evidence? It just might.
