Chapter 46

STACEY'S POV
Danny had stared at me as I yelled questions back at him without waiting for an answer.
'When did this happen?!"
'Why didn't you stop her?!"
'Why didn't you call out to me?!"
'Why didn't she just ask me?" The last question was directed to me and Danny knew that cause he just shrugged which made me angrier and more frustrated. Why did she go through my stuff without my permission? We were friends, right? She could have just asked me?
I knew there was a chance she didn't get any complete information cause I had been cautious enough to write in encryptions but I still felt horribly bad and terribly betrayed. Madison was supposed to be my friend yet she had gone behind my back to rummage through my private things.
After mum hugged Aunt Amber goodnight and tugged Ken along, I waved at Danny, gave Jay Harley a huge grin, ignored Maddie's existence and gave Frankie a brief hug. I couldn't recognize the man that had followed Jay Harley to the house but it was obvious there was hidden tension between mum and him.
She had practically glared at him, mum never ever glared at anything but she had glared at him like he was her number one enemy on the planet and as much as it was confusing, it was oddly cute. I made a mental note to ask Aunt Amber if they ever dated as we left the house.
I went straight to bed as we got to the house, Clary the maid had informed mum at the door about Dad's arrival and my heart had skipped slightly. I was glad he was back, he had been gone for days before the fight with mum after which he left that night. It was a good thing he was bad, it meant there was a chance their marriage was going to be saved.
Yes, I had overheard them talking about the divorce the other night and I know it was horrible of me to have felt the way i felt but I couldn't help it. A divorce might be what i needed, there weren't that much options anyways. Maybe there was but I still hadn't discovered it yet, I was just focused on getting through each day with Frankie's help.
Unlike the Swift's house, ours was huge, we pretty much had the opposite of what the Swifts had. A huge house, money, anything, just name it, anything except happiness. Mum was miserable and it all rubbed off on us, I for one was miserable as hell. Miserable and scared, very scared.
'What's wrong, sweetie?" Mum had caressed my hair as she sat next to me on my bed. I wanted to give her a huge hug and pour my feelings out to her but she had her own stuff going on and I didn't want to add mine.
'...And then you add the water into the acid. Always remember to add the water into the acid and never the other way around. Okay class?" The science teacher's siren like voice pierced through my thoughts as I muttered,
'No one else dumb enough to add acid into water" I raised my head up and noticed the teacher was staring at me, in fact the whole class was staring at me. Had I said it out loud?
The teacher gave me a sinister smile that reminded me way too much of my dad, fear crept in, 'Since you know so much, Stacey, why don't you come teach the class?" She said pointing towards the board.
If you've never experienced social anxiety before, you wouldn't understand what I went through as she made that statement. The entire class attention was glued to me and I felt I was going to shit my pants.
The teacher raised an eyebrow, 'Are you going to get up or what?" I shook my head rapidly and the smile returned, 'Don't ever interrupt me again" she turned around and continued teaching. What a wonderful day I was having.
Frankie usually sat behind me in class but as I turned around looking for emotional support I remembered he had a meeting with the principal and he was probably in his office at the moment with Amber. She wouldn't be thrilled to hear her son had stolen from the gym and his reason would only end up pissing her off the more. Parenting really is hard.
The bell rang to indicate it was time for recess, I usually stayed back till everyone had cleared out of the class but this time around I was among the first people to leave the classroom. I usually sat with Frankie cause duh, we were the weirdos and I had no friends except the triplets.
Again, I remembered he could probably still be at his meeting, there most definitely was a lot to talk a lot and Maddie had said the punishment for stealing was expulsion. Amber would totally flip if she hears about the consequence of her son's actions.
'Won't you like to sit with us, smart ass?" Luke was a total pain in the ass and Frankie wasn't his only target, his main target though, but I was still on the list. I told myself to ignore him as I walked past but then he stood up,
'Are you deaf as well as blind?" He asked blocking my view. No, I wasn't blind, I just had to wear glasses cause of a little condition called Myopia Astigmatism. Did I say little? It isn't as bad as it sounds though. Nah, I'm just kidding, it's quite terrible.
I bit down on my lip to steady myself, 'I don't want to, thank you for offering" I answered. Politeness usually did it right?
Luke drew closer till his nose was almost touching my face, 'Who told you I was asking?" He glared at me and brought his face an inch closer to mine. I wasn't exactly short but Luke was practically a 14 year old giant like kid in third grade.
Suddenly, he raised his head his head, looked above mine and blurted out a question that changed the course of things, 'Who do we have here?" Jay Harley?
