Chapter 38
Rudolf's POV
“Where are you going?” Daniel asked with concern. I turned my face to him and smiled. “Dad is just going to get checked up to be healthy and strong.”
When we arrived at the car, Mikayla helped me get in carefully, making sure that I didn’t feel any more pain. The car sped towards the hospital, where I could see the lights gleaming in the distance. It looked like a place for the medical care and attention I would need.
During the ride, my heart felt calmer, knowing that Mikayla, Emma, and Daniel were with me. I was sure that once I got better, I would be able to continue to protect them and give them the best life they deserved.
Once I arrived at the hospital, I took a deep breath and prepared myself to do what was best for my family. “We will get through this together, and once I get better, there will be lots of time for us to enjoy together,” I said to myself, full of hope and happiness, as we stepped into the hospital.
Once we arrived at the hospital, the doctor immediately examined my condition carefully. He touched my wounds carefully and observed every detail. After a few moments, the doctor said, “You have some pretty serious wounds, sir. Some of them need stitches and you will definitely need good care to heal quickly.”
I looked at him and nodded, realizing how important this step was. “Okay, doc. Do what needs to be done,” I replied firmly. In this situation, I prefer to follow the doctor's advice as long as it is good for my health and safety.
Mikayla was beside me, looking worried but still supportive. “You can get through this, Rudolf. We’re all here for you,” she said softly, holding my hand tightly as if to give me extra strength.
Emma and Daniel watched as they stood near Mikayla, their faces full of concern. Their enthusiasm also gave me a positive boost in my heart. Seeing all this made me feel grateful, to have such a strong mother and such loving children.
“Daddy will be okay, right?” Emma asked in a soft voice and her signature language that warmed my heart.
“Yes, honey. Daddy will be fine and come home to play with you soon,” I replied, my smile expressing trust.
After the doctor finished explaining the procedure that would be carried out, he asked me to be taken to the operating room. It was a mixed feeling—I felt anxious but at the same time determined to get better soon.
Mikayla kissed me softly on the cheek. “I’ll wait for you outside. Come back soon. We need you, Rudolf,” she said, holding back tears as we parted.
As I was wheeled into the operating room, I felt the tension. The doctors and nurses around me gave me instructions and prepared the equipment. Part of me wanted to go back to my family, but I knew this was a health and safety measure.
“Relax. We’ll do our best for you,” one of the nurses said, lifting my spirits. I tried to catch my breath and calm my mind, preparing myself for it.
As I lay on the operating table, I gave myself encouragement in my heart. Encouragement to get better.
Mikayla's POV
When Rudolf arrived from Ghost Mountain, I immediately felt a deep sense of anxiety when I saw his extensive injuries. My heart was pounding at how broken his body was—wounds all over his face and limbs. I don’t know how he managed to fight off the creatures guarding him. But despite his injuries, he made it back to us, and that was the most important thing.
I waited outside the operating room, my heart pounding erratically. Hearing the sounds of medical equipment and the doctors talking made me even more anxious, but I tried to brace myself. Beside me, Emma and Daniel were endlessly curious and full of love.
“Mommy, why did Daddy come into the room?” Emma asked, her eyes sparkling with fear.
“Daddy is being fixed, honey. The doctor will stitch up his wound so that it heals quickly. He will come back to play with us after that, okay?” I answered, giving my understanding even though my worry still clouded my heart.
“Daddy is strong. He can do it!” Daniel exclaimed, raising his little hand as if to encourage me. Seeing the two of them supporting each other warmed my heart. Even in the midst of this pressing situation, they were a source of incredible strength and hope.
Time seemed to pass slowly, every minute felt like hours.
I kept hoping that the surgery would go well, and that Rudolf would soon be back in our arms.
Thinking about everything we had been through as a family, it felt like every moment we spent together was a priceless treasure.
Finally, the door to the operating room opened, and a doctor came out. His hands were working, his face looked serious, but there was a positive light in his eyes. “He’s fine. The surgery went smoothly, and we managed to stitch up his wound. Now, he is in the recovery room,” the doctor explained.
My heart swelled upon hearing the good news, and tears of joy began to flow. “Thank you, Doc. I am so grateful,” I said, feeling as if a heavy burden had been lifted from my shoulders.
Without waiting any longer, my children and I immediately stepped into the recovery room. We couldn’t wait to see Rudolf—the alpha, who had returned to our side. Emma and Daniel held hands, excited to meet their Daddy.
As soon as I opened the door, I saw Rudolf lying on the bed, still weak but his face looked calmer. Seeing him made all the pain and worry lessen a little.
“Daddy…” Emma ran and jumped into Rudolf’s arms, while Daniel followed behind. “We missed you!”
Rudolf opened his eyes, and a soft smile was etched on his face even though he looked tired. “I missed you too. Thank you for waiting,” he replied, while carefully holding his two children.
