Chapter 85

Rudolf's POV
I closed my eyes for a moment, reminding myself of how important it was to be grateful for every moment. Even though this was a scary situation, I was grateful to have gotten through it safely.
I leaned back in my seat, waiting for the journey to return to normal and for my flight home to continue smoothly.
I couldn't sleep throughout the trip, while there were still about 10 hours of flight time left. Despite the uncertain situation, the night atmosphere was quite calm, allowing me to rest a little. I also tried to calm my mind, even though my heart was still filled with feelings of anxiety and longing.
I missed Mikayla and the kids. I was sure they were thinking about me too. In my imagination, I imagined them gathering in the living room, maybe enjoying time together while watching a movie or laughing with each other.
"They must be missing me," I muttered softly, imagining their bright smiles when they saw me again. This longing made me feel stronger to finish this trip and go home soon.
As I stared at the dark sky outside the plane window, I tried to imagine the togetherness that would come. Maybe tonight, when I get home, I will invite the kids to play games, or give Mikayla a break by planning a special dinner.
The incident with Hannah may have complicated my life, but the love and togetherness that I will face at home gives me new hope. I wanted to make sure they knew how much they meant to me.
Hoping to be back soon, I took a deep breath and tried to find some peace. The plane glided gently through the clouds, and although the journey was long, I knew the destination would be worth it.
“Soon, Mikayla. I’ll be back soon,” I said to myself, hoping that the positive energy would guide me safely, and promising not to look back on the dark past.
It was still about 2 hours away, and I chatted with my crew. I asked them to come to my place to discuss what to do tomorrow. We still had to work, but this time not in the office. I felt it was important to stay balanced, so I wanted to make sure they got the same amount of rest as well.
“We can work from home for now,” I said, hoping to inspire them. “With everything that’s been going on, we all deserve some time for ourselves. Focus on the more important things going forward.”
My crew listened and offered their input. “How about we create a weekly plan or virtual seminar to keep the team together? We can still be productive without putting too much pressure on ourselves.”
I nodded in agreement. “That’s a great idea. We can lighten the load and still contribute to the company. Remember, we are human beings above all, and we also need time to humanize ourselves.”
However, in my heart, the wolf inside me was saying, “You can’t let your guard down. This job is your responsibility.”
The confidence and calmness I had created seemed to contradict that basic instinct. Ask myself how to face the demands that come in the future, protect what I have and stay vigilant. The wolf was always there, reminding me not to get too comfortable.
“Don’t worry, we will stay productive and keep everything running smoothly,” I replied quietly to my subordinates. Opening a dialogue like this made me feel powerful and also responsive to the needs of those around me.
We continued this positive discussion until the plane began to approach its destination. As I flew above the clouds, I hoped that with all this, life could continue to give rise to new hopes, dispel the shadows of the past and focus energy on building the future. When I return, I will show a deeper care for the people I love, and this is where my strength lies—something that will never go away. Rudolf is a strong Alpha, I told myself.
The plane finally landed smoothly, and when I stepped out, I was surprised to see Mikayla and the children welcoming me. They were carrying brightly colored posters and beautiful bouquets of flowers. The atmosphere was quite festive!
My heart fluttered, and a big smile spread across my face. Seeing them in front of my eyes made all the burdens and problems I had just faced disappear in an instant. I immediately hugged them tightly, feeling the warmth of love and irreplaceable happiness. “I am grateful to see you again,” I said sincerely, feeling very lucky to have them in my life.
“Are you okay?” Mikayla asked, her face showing deep concern.
In that warm embrace, I could feel the sincerity in every word. “Yes, I’m fine,” I replied, trying to reassure her. “A lot has happened, but it’s all better when I’m here with you.”
Mikayla smiled, but I could see the worry in her eyes. “We miss you. Daniel and Emma can’t wait to tell you about everything they’ve done while you’re gone.”
“And I miss all of you too,” I replied. I was determined to create beautiful moments here and now. Family is the most important thing in my life, and I wanted to give them my full attention.
We walked together to the car, chatting away. The tension and problems that had been plaguing my mind on the way home now felt further away. Every step with her was a reason to be grateful.
Once we were in the car and everyone was buzzing with excitement, I began to tell Mikayla about the trip I had just been on, including the plane experience that had experienced turbulence.
“You wouldn’t believe it, our plane experienced quite a bit of turbulence! Everyone in the cabin looked panicked, including me,” I said, trying to describe how tense the situation was.
Mikayla looked at me with a worried expression. “Oh my God, Rudolf! Are you okay? I can’t imagine how scary it must have been!” Her hair was a little messy from the wind, but her smile always managed to ease my worries.
