Chapter 84

Rudolf’s POV
“I hope you can find a way to fix things when you get out of here, Hannah,” I finished. Right now, the only hope I could find was that she would realize her mistake and change herself.
“Yes, Rudolf. Please say hi to Mikayla if I apologize,” she said. Tears streamed down her cheeks, and even though there was a part of me that was angry, hearing those words made me feel a little empathy.
She continued, “I didn’t want it to end like this. We had great memories together, and I regret every bad decision that got me into bigger trouble. I wish I could change it all, but I know that’s impossible.”
Hannah looked so vulnerable, and there was deep regret in her voice. “The only thing I want now is a chance to make amends. My inability to control myself led me down the wrong path. I made my life, and the lives of others, difficult.”
I felt the weight on my heart ease a little. Even though she had made a huge mistake, hearing her speak with such honesty put things in perspective. “Hannah, you have a chance to make amends even though this is a difficult situation. However, you must take responsibility for what you have done.”
“Rudolf,” she continued, her voice shaking. “I appreciate everything you have done, and I am very sorry for putting you through this. I wish I could change everything I have done. Now it all depends on your decision to continue your life without me. I will always remember you.”
Hearing all this, my heart felt mixed. On one hand, the beautiful memories of our past together were still in my mind, but on the other hand, the actions and decisions she was making now had a very deep impact.
“This is the journey you chose, Hannah,” I said, emphasizing my statement. “I hope you can get back on the right track.”
We both fell silent for a moment, contemplating what had been said. Although her words made me feel compassion, I knew this meeting would not change the facts that had already happened.
“I have to go now,” I finally said, trying to close this meeting on a good note. “Remember, only you can decide how you want to continue your life.”
“I understand, Rudolf. Thank you for coming and listening to me,” she replied softly, but with emotion.
As I turned and left the room, mixed feelings came over me. This unexpected encounter illustrated how life can quickly turn around and change.
After my meeting with Hannah, I felt that it was time to return to my country. I had booked a flight home that very day, missing Mikayla and the kids more than ever.
When I boarded the plane, I was grateful to be in first class. Inside, the atmosphere was comfortable and luxurious, with ample legroom and good service. I could rest comfortably, letting all my thoughts and worries subside for a while.
Here, there were facilities in the form of fully reclining seats, allowing me to stretch out after all the stress. The friendly attention of the flight attendants also made the experience even more enjoyable. They offered delicious gourmet drinks and snacks, as well as a variety of entertainment options on the personal screen in front of me.
I chose to watch a movie that I had been wanting to see for a long time, while enjoying the champagne that was served. One thing was clear: the first-class amenities provided a sense of relief and comfort, allowing me to forget about everything that was happening behind me for a moment.
As the plane soared high in the sky, I tried to think about my next move. Once I arrived, I wanted to explain everything that had happened to Mikayla and make sure she knew I was there for her, no matter what I had to face.
As the plane passed over the soft clouds, I felt a little more at ease. Even though everything felt complicated, I knew I had taken the right step.
But then the plane suddenly hit some pretty bad turbulence. I felt a jolt that made the calm I had felt earlier disappear in an instant. Several passengers around me began to show signs of panic, and tension began to fill the cabin.
The flight crew immediately gave instructions through an announcement over the microphone. “Passengers, we are experiencing some minor turbulence right now. Please remain calm and seated with your seatbelts fastened. The cabin crew is making sure everything is safe.”
Despite the calm message, I felt a tremor running through my body. My own voice was quite panicked, especially when I heard the screams of the other passengers in economy class. They seemed restless, some screaming and holding each other, the atmosphere becoming increasingly frantic.
“Calm down, everything will be fine…” I mumbled, trying to reassure myself as I gripped the armrests of my seat, but my heart was pounding.
The shaking intensified, and the flight attendants began rushing between the rows of seats to make sure everyone was safely seated. I saw one flight attendant smile, trying to reassure the passengers despite knowing the tense situation.
Suddenly, the plane dived a little more sharply, and the others started screaming even louder. Panic boiled over, and I felt a cold sweat break out on my forehead. I had never been in a situation like this before.
“Listen, everyone,” a flight attendant shouted, trying to raise her voice above the noise. “The only way to get through this is to stay calm. If you haven’t already, please fasten your seatbelts, and calm your minds.”
Shaking, I looked around at the confused and frightened faces around me. I tried to pay attention to the other passengers and gave them a reassuring smile. “We’ll get through this together,” I said softly to the passenger next to me.
After what felt like an eternity, the turbulence began to ease. The plane had made it through a small storm. I could feel a small sense of relief welling up inside me, though my heart was still racing.
“Finally, we’re starting to calm down,” a passenger next to me said, and the previously noisy voices began to subside.
